it's sort of obvious i guess, but one thing that helps a ton with base class viability is getting cats with pumped con, and other stats but con in particular helps survive until they come "online".
I'm not newely as far in, but I've been finding that as long as my cats have at least 5 con and 6-7 speed that I can usually force whatever hand I get dealt to work even if my skill rolls are awful. You can supplement most everything else with items and levels as long as they can survive a round not tied to your clerics hip.

Finally managed to pick up the game, played a couple hours and cleared the Sewers. Almost got screwed when my Fighter got Depression from cracking an egg open and having a fetus die in front of him, but managed to pull through.

I made it to act 3, and I enjoyed the fakeout credits. I'm going to attempt some side quests before continuing to actually doing act 3. Zaratana's coming, and I need a good rock eater...

But god fucking damnit can a bitch get some +comfort furniture? I keep getting -comfort, or just neutral with +stimulation. I've got 4 rooms, 80 cats, and all my rooms are at around -4, with my one breeding room being the only one with big stimulation numbers.

CON definitely makes a lot of difference to a cat's survivability. I taken to hoarding any and all CON+ items. That +4CON, -2SPD one is especially good on druids (who don't typically need to move much).

Fighters and Tanks benefit the most from depression because they massively reduce the stats of anyone next to them, so ideally enemies get their damage, health, and movement debuffed while your emo musclehead beats them to death.

>the Censor bar quest has been an absolute breeze because my team is so cracked that they just don't get hit
feelsgoodman

I'm probably jinxing it, as I've only just reached the Sewers boss, but here's my retarded pack of feral beasts:

Diablo is very aptly named, he is fucking insane. Feral continues to be a stupidly good passive, letting him essentially attack for 5-10 damage four times in one turn while in Wolf form, and his crow is nigh unstoppable. Thorny Step is also great for positioning, and when paired with Mom's Knife it means he's usually killing 1-2 enemies a turn no matter how beefy they are.

Siren is the real fighting force of this game, though. Her insane speed means that she always goes first, can jump to basically anywhere on the map, and will almost always be able to crit-backstab anything in her vicinity thanks to Marked. Most Valuable Cat also means she essentially gets two turns a round, given that only Diablo ever threatens to take away her Alpha status, so she can clear half the map in a single turn. I've beaten most bosses in 1-2 turns thanks almost exclusively to her. The meat hook and ridiculous Constitution bonuses I've gotten from level ups have essentially made her into the world's flightiest Butcher, which is invaluable in a run like this.

Tugan was lagging behind like hell up until a battle or two ago, but now that he has Mountain Form and some acceptable speed he's an absolute killer. All the positioning and debuff spells he got really helped him out, as did the healing buffs (Chomp and Slack Off), and when paired with his gear it means that Tugan can take a pickup, run into someone with his basic attack, use Gore to pick up another pickup, then destroy a corpse with Stun/Chomp and move again thanks to the Fanny Pack.

Zelgius is unfortunately only good for being my sole form of Ranged support (which I'm now realizing would have been a death sentence had I come across any Daddy Sharks, but thankfully I didn't see one despite taking the hard route), debuffing the enemy on turn 1, and doling out pickups for Tugan. His healing is okay, but 6 speed really isn't enough to catch up with the rest of his team and he's often left behind within a turn or two. Emergency is a lifesaver (and the only reason he's not entirely useless), but still a risk given that it usually ends up trampling another team member. I would use him to just sweep up enemies, but there usually aren't enough left for Zelgius to ever be of much use.

I'm keeping track of everyone's health bars and statuses in a notepad on the side, just in case, but god damn does it feel good to barely edit that thing. I have yet to end a single battle with more than one damaged member, and I think I've only ever ended one battle with less than half a bar. Watch as I immediately wipe upon returning to the game after this post lol.

EDIT: I jinxed nothing, this run has been fucking insane

As a side note: has anyone noticed that Mountain Form increases your cat's size? Kind of like how Hamster Form shrinks it to the point where I keep mistaking my Hamster Form Fighter for a kitten when organizing my cats. I thought it was a glitch at first, but I guess it makes sense if you think about it. It's pretty cool.

EDIT: it's more obvious in the upgraded form of the ability. Your cat gets fucking huge

I got a shit-eating cat that would eat shit and then smile, showing the shit between his teeth he got from eating shit. Got to Flushmaster and barely got to take a drink of my Monster before the shit-cat walked right over to him and killed him in one hit. I judged shit-cat too harshly.

Peta made a post on Twitter about Mewgenics, it's as stupid as you think it would be

We're honoring Mewgenics' Tracy Newkirk with a Hero to Animals Award for her advocacy for the cats of Boon County. Tracy is the only ethical option for where to send your cats (we have nightmares about Baby Jack). She fearlessly educates players on speciesism and using the term "animal companion" instead of "pets." Well done, @edmundmcmillen on creating such a passionate animal advocate!

♫ Tasty legumes and crispy tofu, on her mind! ♫

speaking of the ribbon, take it with salt, but apparently the wiki says if you have a cat equipped with it, it skips a phase of the final boss in the infinite. pretty sure it actually just makes it harder with how the boss works though, unless it skips the ENTIRE standing phase. that's the only known use of the ribbon and seems to make sense with the "it shines great in the light" >most light in the game
There an achievement for that?

You think Edmund could add a soy cat to make fun of them again, or would Tommy raise a shit fit over that?

Ok here are the completion marks for acts bosses that grant rewards:

Chapter 3:

* Beat with full collarless team
* Beat on Hard/Crazy/Impossible team comp doesn't matter, requires Steven unlock

House bosses:
* Beat once for quest item

Other bosses:
* Unlock next chapter when defeated, but give no items

Current run had managed to turn one of my shit tier cats into a Menace. Ranger with spread shot, mana steal, and the skill that refunds mana on kill means I cleared every single Boneyard encounter in one round because I'd just throw him into the middle and hit skill until the board was clear.

Unfortunately this is my first Boneyard adventure so now I have to figure out what to do with the boss. "Takes revenge on the killer" makes me think my best bet will be to set up a kill with my healer in case it gets possessed or something, I'll have to try and block it with my tank and some traps so it can't roll out of the way. I am pretty unprepared but if I know games like this it's that nothing is impossible of you treat it like a puzzle.
