I actually had to
look it up too just now. Apparently it's a call back to how during the American Revolution the entire active forces of the US never was more then 3% of the population. Also for others to "never underestimate the power of a small group of committed citizens to change the world". It's basically just a bunch of dumbasses taking a term from history to increase their personal clout. Sort of like when political groups adopted the Tea Party name.
These guys are serious losers who fantasize about the glory of war. Most of them probably have never served and fantasize about hand to hand fighting where they win every time or picking off targets from miles away. I've never looked into them but everything they do looks like a tactical gun club.
While I was looking up what 3% was I found this photo.

This is from a patrol/contact class (
page). What are they even doing here? I don't know but if they did this in the field they'd get wiped by competent soldiers who know to space out. At least the dude in front will look cool when everyone dies.
Another photo I found was this one.
I'm not sure about the rest of you but if I was organizing a serious organization that might end up in a firefight I'd standardize a rifle caliber. That way resupply is easy and if you run out of ammo you know that your buddy is shooting the same stuff you are. Here you can see 3 or 4 different sizes of cartridges being used.
Ok sperging is over.
