Minecraft

Someone leaked the other two mobs already.
They are a seagull and a jellyfish.
I have no idea why Mojang thought that these mobs will generate any hype. They all sound lame.
(Also I'm certain that Mo' Creatures had them since Beta)
Looks like the leak was fake
waiting for someone to mod this mob in less than a day

That was 10 years ago. Crazy how predictions that the game would get shittier under Microshit's direction were completely right.
We all thought that sheer bad things that might happen in the future was gonna be nothing but coincidences. But a wise anon said best, if only we knew how bad things really were

Wolf armor and extended reach are features that have been begged for by the players for over a decade but typical Mojang will find a way to make whichever one wins so weak and situational that it’s useless in addition to being tedious to get.
So based on this the third mob will probably be some inventory expander or something, but in typical fashion only one of these things will be added then the rest will be thrown out forever and never used ever. I'm with Null when it comes to these retarded mob votes, just don't vote.

Is the Better than Adventure mod for Beta 1.7.3 any good? I'm so fatigued with the new updates that I'm starting to look backwards.
Otherwise it's pure bloat that only exists for one small purpose, just like almost every other recent new feature in the game.
Shit like this has been the bane of this entire game since 1.6 (or 1.0 if you really think about it). It's actually kind of frustrating how every single feature just feels like it was ripped from a sub-par modpack and retards seem to lap it up every single time.

BTA is very good at giving a vanilla look that manages to feel natural to the game. This is wonderful if you're not used to clashing art styles.
A lot of BTA's features try to laugh at modern Minecraft. For example, devs added fireflies and firefly lanterns just to lol at 1.19. It may get really repetitive when most of its content is just "[new shit] but actually good!!".
A lot of "small" stuff BTA adds is just bloat. Amount of decorative block variants is just crazy. List of quality-of-life stuff added is insanely long and features (mostly) useless things like PvP HUD.

IMO just play unmodded Beta.

Speak for yourself. I frequently played in what was a big server at the time and after the announcement that M$ would buy Mojang, the chat would frequently "derail" into a bunch of people who had clearly put a lot of time and real life money into the game (as denoted by their very colorful ranks) freaking out about what kinds of development laziness or general disrespect towards the playerbase would take place afterwards. Personally, back then I really wasn't equipped to know enough to draw an honest conclusion on that or to even understand why Notch didn't want to be there anymore. I suppose Mojang would've done a lot of the same crap on their own eventually, but it's still disappointing looking back after nine years.

Better yet, play Beta with old mods from 2011, just like everyone used to play it. Maybe even install the old Aether mod to remember just how ambitious that mod was for it's time.

And also relive the nightmare that was pre-Forge modding. Install Risugami's Modloader into minecraft.jar, remove META-INF, replace .class files, and if you make a mistake do it all over again because you didn't make a copy of minecraft.jar before adding the mod that caused incompatibilities.

Speaking of, it's pretty shameful, but I completely forgot how to properly mod Minecraft Beta. I was able to learn how to do it when I was 10 years old as soon as I discovered the game, but over a decade later I completely forgot how to avoid and deal with conflicts. I tried adding some mods like SDK's Gun Mod or IndustrialCraft via BetaCraft and it wouldn't work. :(

Multi/PolyMC made this process MUCH easier. All you need to do is to click on "Edit Instance" and "Add a .jar mod".

Perhaps it is, however BetaCraft also includes very specific fixes for older version that MultiMC doesn't have, and I don't know how you can port them to MultiMC. I also won't touch PolyMC or Prism Launcher with a ten foot pole, I've switched to ATLauncher for 1.12.2 modpacks and only keep MultiMC as a more rudimentary option.

But I can give it a try to see if it works well enough. I found this video where the guy goes over modding Beta via MultiMC, and he also gives a nice refresher of how it looked like back in the day.

PolyMC, despite its name, is based and redpilled. It's the one that the owner kicked out all the trannies and they all left to form Prism while doing as much damage as possible to Poly on the way out. I still just use MultiMC, but PolyMC is good if you want to piss people off.

New leaks were right. The last mob is the penguin.
"What’s that splashing around in the dark? Oh! It’s a penguin, one of the three new mobs that wants to join Minecraft! The penguin is a social mob, and you'll find it waddling around the stony shores biome. A little clumsy on land, the penguin is a strong swimmer when it's in the water. It's helpful too, because this amphibious mob can help your boat travel faster!"

Looks like it'll probably just function like dolphin's grace but for boats, which is disappointing given how much better ice is.

Of course it's a fucking penguin....

Edit: Ninja'ed.

This mob vote is just another proof of Mojang's lazyness. These three mobs are simple in concept, you kinda wonder why they wouldn't add all three :).

So its just going to be a vote for crab or armadillo then. Expanded reach seems infinitely more useful than dog armour, but all these choices suck and you know that this will be the only thing the mob does, because you know mojang isnt going to give them any drops or add a new food item or anything. All the new mobs don't even fit the visual style of the game and they all have weird overdone custom animations for everything.
