Mojang still hasn't patched it despite it trivializing all other transport methods.
You mean the thing the elytra + rockets does without even needing to set up infrastructure to use?

Theres no need to "patch" methods of transport that require you to build infrastructure to use, the point of survival was meant to put pressures into building infrastructure.
In old minecraft, you walk slow, night is pitch black, and mobs were dangerous, so you set up minecart tracks, lit up the area, and set up walls or builds to protect yourself and set up mines.
Now you can sprint as fast as a minecart with no need to spend hours building railways, you can fly anywhere at the speed of light, and you can easily "minmax" your armor enchantments and get to diamond in like an hour if you're "speedrunning" so mobs are trivial.
All the new "bosses" and features seem to attract a part of the current player base which thinks minecraft is like terraria and needs "progression" and "balance patches" and "nerfs" missing the point entirely. The point of survival was to pressure you into building/give reason to build. Instead people are treating it like a boss rush game. They add features which attracted a certain type of player who wants to play it like terraria and "progress" and become strong and get the "best" everything as fast as possible and rush through bosses, but that was never the point of the game, its not Terraria and honestly terraria was better played when it copied minecraft more and encouraged automation and infrastructure instead of loot progression.
The hunger bar was supposed to incentivize you to build food farms, instead eating just becomes an annoyance, but that was the idea.

If anything, they need to remove the rocket flying with elytras, this way people would have to set up towers to use them and maybe use their creativity to make cool floating islands. They don't need to remove ender peal stasis chambers for teleportation, you can make really cool builds around those things like the star trek transporter. They need to incentivize building things, make minecarts faster to encourage players making them, make horses travel faster on trampled dirt but slower than minecarts to encourage building paths, stop elytras from using rockets to infinitely fly, etc. Also remove phantoms or change how they spawn because they discourage players from making large builds without taking a break to sleep through the night every 3 days, "if you don't like a feature just don't use it" is what they said when they made beds, then they designed around that and force you to sleep once every 3 days or deal with an enemy that hits you, then flies up and circles till they hit you again. They're annoying. They need to stop encouraging the zoomer brained dopamine fried types of players who play for 2 weeks and quit after fighting the ender dragon or getting "the best" gear.

The one thing I did enjoy was the copper golem, it bridged the gap between hand sorting and making mega item hopper sorters which almost became a necessity with the million block types they added. They're fun to torture too, speaking of, its stupid they switched from having the "optimal" way to farm animals be unethical, then when they added other animals decide "we can't let people kill armadillos or turtles for armor because they're real animals" ignoring the cooking chickens alive or breeding animals in minecart thing. It marked a symptom of Minecraft marketing towards kids and trying to "encourage environmentalism" instead of you know, fun. Seriously, they started having a design philosophy of "if its a real animal don't incentivize the player to inhumanely farm it" and "everything bad in the world that happens must be due to the player doing something" meanwhile Notch just adds in exploding dick and teleporting tall black man who steals ur shit.

just play Terraria
I think the game having more challenges and combat is perfectly fine as long as the reward is creativity (like new blocks for example). I recall people saying that the old nether had no reason to travel to, but I always thought that glowstone, netherrack and inifite lava were extremely rewarding on their own.

Glowstone is a great fit for modern builds where torches look out of place, netherrack is perfect for roofing while inifite lava allows you to smelt large amounts of items without wasting any coal on it.

Ghasts gatekept those precious new things behind having better gear (a bow, since deflecting fireballs wasn't very reliable and was also time-consuming and annoying). I suspect pigmen were supposed to just be creepy husks that would roam the land and ignore you to make the nether seem more like hell and not as desolate, but you being able to hurt them without them fighting back (or not being able to interact with them at all) seemed like a bug if you didn't know it was a feature, so Notch gave them a little more life.

I don't think the current game can be saved in any capacity but if we were starting over from beta 1.7.3, I think adding more combat and exploration to the game is a good idea as long as it promotes creativity.

Deep Dark is a good example of a badly implemented exploration/combat addition. The only item from it which promotes creativity is a sculk sensor, but to make an entire big content pack around such a simple thing is just ridiculous amounts of bloat, all the while adding another item (recovery compass) which actually dampens overall creativity by cutting the need to mark your path, create pathways and navigate properly. (using coordinates is cheating btw)

A hypothetical exploration/combat addition which would promote creativity are biome-specific monsters with unique abilities, forcing you to adapt your builds to whatever biome you're in. For example spiders should naturally pose more danger in the jungle than in the plains. Giving them a jungle variant (or just buffing them there) with better pathfinding (including walking on ceilings) and also increasing their spawn rates would render simple walls and fences useless in that region. Of course, as with any such changes, being conservative is a must.

Instead of making yet another modloader, someone made a tool to help port fabric mods to neoforge with as little headache as possible. And here's a chart someone posted that shows the most modded MC versions:

Any cool new modpacks for fantasy fags
Funny I was just looking at some. What modpacks have you tried? There's many a fuck ton of them and I don't know your tastes. Do you want a modpack focused on dungeon crawling? General exploration? Heavy on magic? Sitting in a tower brewing potions too strong for mortals or slinging spells at whatever comes your way? Heavy on combat? Big combat overhaul or additions to vanilla combat? Low vs high fantasy? Lots of quests or freeform? Your main interest can make or break a modpack, no matter how good it is. Anyone looking for mod(pack) recommendations should always specify their main interests first or else you'll be thrown a bunch of shit you might not like. Hell even version preference is a big factor.
A modpack called Fantasia got a spotlight by CurseForge recently, has a bunch of classes and seems to have some races too. Looks more like a modpack for a dungeon party.
Prominence 2 is a "classic" that is inspired by Diablo iirc. Same with Craft to Exile (and Craft to Exile 2) which are straight up diablo inspired.
Guild Adventures is one of the first(?) modpacks to take advantage of that isometic camera mod inspired by MC Dungeons (optional).
Nightfall blew up a while ago due to it being one of the few mods that actually use and tweak the shit out of the Epic Fight mod, unsurprising since the developers have been messing around with that mod for ages. Lots of custom made content specifically for the pack, but there's a lot of weeb shit in there too so that might be a deal breaker.
Abyssal Ascent where you start from the Undergarden and have to collect resources from each dimension to grow stronger, breaking the ceiling of each dimension to move on to the next. One of the few modpacks to actually do something like this, the only other one I know of is some gay speedrun modpack made by that popular tranny (funny enough the only recent reviews of that modpack is by a tranny too) who made ROTN. I do not many people who plays these two packs often that isn't a tranny, but I digress.
Blightfall is an absolute classic and still one of the best modpacks out there. It's technically sci-fi fantasy, lots of machinery and tech with Thaumcraft being the big magic mod this pack is focused on. You can only play on the custom map made for it so if you want your own world, nope.
Hexxit. Yeah just Hexxit.
The Hubris of Magic is a hardcore magic modpack that didn't really reach up to the stars other classics but I remember having fun with it. Simply Magic is made by the same author and was the last thing he worked on before disappearing, it's more focused on learning mods.
Stoneblock 4 is a pretty good one, it has lots of custom assets that's technically fantasy, but has lots of tech. Like the other one it might be a dealbreaker.
Chocolate Edition is advertised as Minecraft if the Terraria devs got to it (though I hear it's more if the Calamity mod devs got to it). Never tried it and it's in active development, but I have been recommended it myself a few times. Surprisingly it doesn't use the mods that are heavily inspired by Terraria itself (Prodigium, Confluence, Terramity), then I realized it was on 1.19.2 (I believe it was in active development for most of 1.19 and the author didn't want to redo everything for 1.20).
Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons and another classic that is surprisingly still getting updated, even after the author made 2 (which I think is abandoned) and now 3. I don't know how good these updates are from what I last played it so check for yourself. Last I played was 1.40a.
Reddit Space
I could list more but eh. A lot of fantasy modpacks tend to be derivative of each other due to everyone using the same popular mods and a lack of customization (or custom anything really), making it hard to find a modpack to stick with if you disliked another one. BTW is that the KF server made by @Hakase Shinonome?

And here's a chart someone posted that shows the most modded MC versions:
So 1.20.1 is king now ? I wonder if this chart takes into account any mods that were duplicated between forge / fabric for support, and how many mods on 1.20 have made it there from earlier versions of the game.
Anyways, I recently opened multimc for the first time in ages only to find that the newest versions of the game follow an even more retarded naming format than before. WTF is wrong with Mojang lmao. Using the odd '1.10' naming format for years only to switch over to whatever this is.

BTW is that the KF server made by Hakase Shinonome?
Yes it is.
And for what shit interest me i honestly have no idea and that is the problem i kinda have no idea like im 100% sure i dont like combat overhaul ones and ones that focus on 3rd person (like Nightfall it is kinda shame for that one or i should just try to learn it)
I guess i will try Abyssal Ascent and Hex (man i remember when i was younger and i tried Technic launcher and since you had to have premium acc i was just fucked and idk if back then they had shit like Poly where you can just download shit throught them this was when 1.8 was new version)

I believe one of the earlier charts was taken from modindex, which someone said:
The numbers may be quite a bit inflated because it would include, for example the number of 1.21.1 mods that have a neoforge version and have a version for 1.21.1, but not necessarily a neoforge 1.21.1 version, so it would also include all mods that have, for example a fabric 1.21.1 version as well any neoforge version, but not necessarily a neoforge 1.21.1 version.
ModDex.gg, a new site someone made in response to a chart that added the chart feature to it supposedly fixes this by allowing you to filter these out:
1785440231827.png
You can mess around with the stats here, dev seems to be updating it to be even more accurate from what he said.
Here's the original chart based on modindex that was what got the new chart made that I forgot to mention:

Anyways, I recently opened multimc for the first time in ages only to find that the newest versions of the game follow an even more retarded naming format than before.
You mean you don't love going from 1.21 to 26? It was already retarded that it didn't go from 1.9 to 2.0, this is just especially retarded. Now they're going by yearly and just adding a .1 to each update in the same year. Whoever thought that was a "fun" idea should rope.
Yes it is.
Got to ask that guy to whitelist me later.

Here's an idea that I thought of since I tend to run into people just like you, give individual mods a shot. Very small mod lists to try out a specific mod (for example make a modpack based around Iron's Spells and maybe some addons for it and nothing else), see if you like it, and search for modpacks that add/don't add that mod. Or make your own based on mods you actually like and cut out the bloat.
Alternatively smaller quest modpacks may give you a focus to try out one thing at a time while also introducing mods you may find interesting along the way.
man i remember when i was younger and i tried Technic launcher and since you had to have premium acc i was just fucked
I remember seeing that as a broke youngin' and just went "oh wait, I could just get a crack like my normal MC launcher." This was back when Notch still owned MC and thus we had the OG launcher.
1785441299300.png
Oh shit, Scrolls and Cobalt. Haven't seen those in a while. Someone actually made a launcher that mimics it a while ago, it's dead but people forked the shit out of it. Anyway, try out popular technic modpacks from back in the day now that you can.
idk if back then they had shit like Poly where you can just download shit throught them this was when 1.8 was new version
We had MultiMC iirc, which is what Poly and all its derivatives are based on. Hell most launchers I see are based on MultiMC anyway. Technic also downloaded mods no problem iirc (haven't used Technic since years for obvious reasons) because this was before mod authors collectively became such massive tools that treat their mods like the second coming of Christ, eventually leading to that retarded opt-in/opt-out for automatic downloads and making modding more tedious (among other things).

Personally, this makes perfect sense. 1.20.1 is probably the last version of Minecraft I’m going to bothering changing to, even with mods. As far as faggy nu-Minecraft goes, it has a lot of benefits. It still uses the superior old version naming structure, it’s modern enough to not feel like you’re missing out on many features (I actually like the cherry groves, bees, mangrove swamps and archaeology even though all of these features are extremely underbaked and full of missed potential), but it’s not modern enough to have the new “features” that I’m mostly unfamiliar with outside of what I do know leading me to believe that they make the game significantly worse both from an aesthetic and gameplay standpoint (those retarded overworld ghasts and the new baby animal models)

The few things I find interesting in the modern versions have already been backported if I want them, 1.20.1’s existing catalogue of mods is massive and it grows every day. It’s a good version to stay on. I would recommend it to anyone interested in dabbling in modding a newer version without completely cucking to the total slop Mojang has been pushing out over the past year and a half.

ETA: Apparently 1.20.1 is the last version without the social interactions screen (skin/username reports), which also probably helps to explain its dominance.

Here's some hot takes I know will get some shit: I enjoy 26.2. I don't hate the update name scheme. I don't hate the "modern" additions to the game. Nothing they add takes away from your ability to enjoy the older versions. You can go back and play Tekkit or Better than Wolves, and never have to hear Pigstep. Let them add whatever, it's the #1 children's game.

Do i need to go get the list of things that they've done to make the older versions harder and harder to even play?
Let them add whatever, it's been corrupted into the #1 children's game.
That's the problem. It's just a kid's game now in the public perception. Not something for everyone, just for the ten-second focus subgroup of humanity.

Quite literally everything has been backported to 1.12.2 at this point and even that is only the cutoff because Create Legacy refused to go to older versions, save for some of the more obscure mods. If i want nujang slop i can just install Et Futurum Requiem instead of base Et Futurum or something.
If i had to choose a modern version, yeah, it'd be my target, but that precludes me from vastly superior versions to begin with.

I understand, and by no means am I saying 1.12.2 is a bad version, but I never preferred going back to it. Some of the features are too new for it to be nostalgic (1.8.9 is the real cutoff) but it's also too old to have many of the modern features built in. I understand backporting exists, but if I can play on the version where the newer features I want are already in the game than I'd prefer to do that. If I want an older, more nostalgic and more cohesive version, I'm going to play pre-combat update or even something like Beta.

Like I said, I actually enjoy some of the modern additions. The cherry grove biome is a feature I wanted in some capacity for years, bees were a pleasant surprise when they came out and archaeology has the potential to fit the game perfectly. My biggest issue with modern Minecraft versions is how they add these features that are cool in concept but only implement them in the most lazy, half-baked, uninteresting ways imaginable. They added a cherry grove and didn't fucking add cherries. The foundation for a good feature is there but the execution is retarded and underwhelming.

it's the #1 children's game.
you spelled roblox wrongly.
(I actually like the cherry groves, bees, mangrove swamps and archaeology even though all of these features are extremely underbaked and full of missed potential)
it's made as a modding frame, a good chunk of the nu-versions content is basically them picking mods that people have used for eons and making it native to give it better mod support.
"but we totally won't add mod ideas in the game so pls don't suggest them" - nujang

Hi!

Yeah, DM me your username.

That's the problem. It's just a kid's game now in the public perception. Not something for everyone, just for the ten-second focus subgroup of humanity.
I feel that, I currently am how people felt about Minecraft in the mid 2010's. I feel as if the people still playing it are overly annoying, ADHD-driven faggots who I cannot stand. But at least when Minecraft was at that point in its life, it was actually fun to play on third party servers that weren't Hypixel, at least 90% of the servers I played on are now either dead or gone. RIP Shotbow. - I often played on Dutch servers, pride in my country and all, and the literal last remaining one got completely fucked up the ass in microtransactions, faulty administration and the owner completely ditched clean from the server as a whole. Combined with the globohomo pattern of the entirety of Europe becoming anglicized means you won't ever see native servers anymore, I absolutely despise it.

I miss minigame servers. Every server now is either survival, factions. “SMP” (I still don’t know what the fuck that means), and maybe a Sky Wars, Bed Wars or UHC mode if you’re lucky. It’s all sweaty compnigger shit. One of the best parts of playing on servers years ago was browsing through and sampling all the unique games. Even when I find a server with a handful of minigames, they’re always dead. I’ll never forgive the current Minecraft playerbase for killing some of the game’s best multiplayer modes so that they can pretend to be “competitive” Twitch streaming speedrunners.

making a tower. dont know exactly what to do with it yet, theres just a primordial urge in me that makes me build a tower every time i play this game

Just don't build too high or else Deus nos omnes devovebit.
“SMP” (I still don’t know what the fuck that means)
SMP means survival multiplayer, literally just people on a server but it's a term used to separate large public servers with hubs and shit vs a bunch of people playing Minecraft (for the most part).

Isn't Hypixel just that? Minigames? I don't play on it so I don't really know. Most independent minigame servers are dead like you said which is sad, I think any chance of a minigame server like the "old days" will probably be on Bedrock since Java has a monopoly on that.
Semi-related, rip console minigames.

the funny part is the faggot saying that both notch and microjeet are bad, like my nigger do you even look the guy above you saying that notch is far better than a bunch of sovless corporate drones? still it's funny seeing someone with ancient lore reminding players that they made this bed, TIME TO LIE IN IT.
