Buckley is a lesser version of Tyrone Woodley. Good on the feet, useless when pressed up against the cage. The difference is that Woodley’s shots actually hit their mark clean. Buckley clipped Usman good several times in that fight, and if he would have thrown caution to the wind, he might have scored the KO a la Edwards in the final round. He was largely swinging aimlessly and missing throughout the entire fight, which allowed Usman to pressure him into unfavorable positions.

Credit to Buckley’s stamina. Didn’t expect him to be able to make it the distance. Still not a great performance by either guy. Average striker with power versus elite, albeit older wrestler of questionable durability, and the wrestler is going to win 9 times out of 10.

Didn't turn out that way, was total domination by Rico.
The highlight of Glory for me was the Nigger Wolf guy blatantly fouling his opponent twice in quick succession, chimping out so hard that security had to rush into the ring after his opponent had the audacity to complain about said fouls, then promptly getting heemed by a flying knee and falling out of the ring while stumbling around as the ref counted him out. 10/10 fight, would watch again.

Damn, heinous matchmaking for this one.

Anyone post a link to this? Sounds crazy

They confirmed Ben Askren is on ECMO, which is basically life support. Fucking sucks all of this stemmed from a staph infection. I’ve read that once you’ve entered the phase of requiring ECMO, mortality rates are pretty high. Any Kiwi’s with medical know how able to chime in?

Not basically life support, ECMO is life support, and probably one of if not the more serious ones, especially compared to something comparatively simple like a ventilator. For those that don't know they basically pump your blood out of your body and use a machine to filter out CO2 and add oxygen before pumping it back in, essentially replacing your lung function

While I'm not a medical expert, many years ago I did almost end up on an ECMO for something not entirely dissimilar to Ben's situation. The mortality figure we were quoted at the time was not far off 50%, which kinda makes sense. ECMO is a last resort, only used in the most serious of cases and it has it's own host of potential complications.

Damn. I’m glad you were able to pull through.

There's also talk of him needing a lung transplant, and that's if he survives. Fucking sad situation if you ask me, whatever you think of his fighting abilities, he is/was one of the more chill and humble UFC fighters and seems like a generally wholesome dude with a wife and three kids.

UFC 317 Main Card is looking pretty good:

Imavov got dropped as the backup for 319. So he's calling out Caio Borralho.

This may be Borralho's golden ticket to a title shot...or his first UFC loss.

Gooby took a break from stepping out on Lady D with bogged skanks in Ibiza to knock out some schmuck who he thought said his Power Word (Khabib).

I was reminiscing about how O'Malley, when he was champ, was talking all loads of shit about how he'd love to do a super fight with Ilia Topuria. Lol. Merab might have just unwittingly saved Sean's life by beating him the way he did with minimal damage. Ilia would have ruined his career.

Speaking of which, I've seen some people talking about Sean moving up now that he's locked out of the title picture, but I gotta say, I think that'd be a terrible idea. He's getting grapple fucked as is, going up a weight class is not going to help with that.
The matchup that I'd be interested in the most is an Aljo rematch, and that might be the most winnable fight for him in the rankings. Yair would be interesting as well but I do think that Ortega would sub him, and even Allen has a good chance to beat him. These are the only winnable matchups I can think of, however.

Diego Lopes would walk through him without a care in the world, Movsar could just replicate what worked for Merab, and Jean Silva would absolutely eat him alive. Even Volk I think would piece him up and possibly break him.

McGregor tried to purchase a soccer team and was turned down by the club. So he got drunk and started fights in a nightclub to make himself feel better. His private security guards must have mental heath professionals on standby at all times to deal with the stress of babysitting this retard.

King of Ireland brawling? Shenanigans? A donnybrook? Surely not. Send for the Paddy wagon. 🍀
On the other hand, that kind of crap will get you shot in the face and buried in a shallow grave, up here in the backwoods.

Effortposting on the MMA thread

Found a new local spot to watch fights. The only downside is that it’s full of a bunch of college aged BJJ (probably blue belts at best) LARPers who constantly mimic what they’re watching on the television. They seriously grab each other every time any hold is applied to someone on screen. They said it wasn’t a gay bar…. But I get different vibes. Whatever. They have a two drink minimum on numbered events, and the wings are pretty good. Still gay.

Prelims for tonight’s event are kind of odd. I only knew a few if these fighters off-hand, and felt like a casual fan. Weird to see Oban Elliot on the prelims, even if it is the featured bout.

The main card is a wrestlefuckers wet dream. Not much to say about the first three fights. If there isn’t any egregious wrestlefuckery that goes on for all three bouts, I’d be surprised.

Hoping Blaydes scores the KO against Kuniev. I don’t really have a horse in this race, but I really do think the first three fights have the potential to be absolute snooze fests (like the Wetzell v Gutierrez fight on PFL last night). Control against cage. Do just enough work to not get sic’d off the other guy. Then again, Curtis may just pancake this dude for a couple of rounds… let’s hope not.

I love Fiziev. Awesome fighter with an awesome style. Just a pleasure to watch. That being said, he allows himself to telegraph his shit so much. Ignacio is a hard counter for someone like him. He put Jalin Turner in a sick triangle choke back in March. If Fiziev can land those body kicks early on and frequently, I think he will pull off the decision.

Some of the most fun I’ve had watching any MMA bout was when we were chimping out during the Jiri and Hill fight earlier this year. I could very well be wrong, but I think this fight is actually razor close. I think the name of the game here is resiliency. Rountree got absolutely battered Alex and was still standing before he was shown mercy and the fight was called. Comparatively, Hill got dropped on his ass clean by Alex, and just kind of faded in the third round against a sloppy Jiri, allowing him to get pounded out. I think Khalil is more durable than Hill, but I’m not sure if he’s more powerful. I’ll be aping out against Hill, hoping for a second round KO from Rountree, but it’s likely going to go all 5.

Phew, that illegal knee had me worried a fight might actually not go the distance. Glad the crisis has been averted and our 5 decisions in a row streak keeps going, UFCbros, but I'm still gonna need a double dose of nigger-filled commercials and zogbot recruitment ads to get me back in a proper #UFCfightfan mood.

that was a good finish. i can’t stand people from countries i can’t pronounce ruin my sport

im genuinely so annoyed that dagestan niggers can just cheat, and it’s perfectly fine

edit: i’m starting to see that all baku fighters are cheaters
