I’m on the fence because I feel like if this *was* fake, the person who made it would have taken greater care to get that right. Whereas I can kind of see an employee of the courts just thinking that was the correct spelling.

Misspellings are actually making me inclined to believe it (though I don’t want to). Not only did they saddle the poor girls with those names, but “Rekieta” is also fairly commonly misspelled in known official documents, with “ei” instead of “ie”.

Legal Kiwis, would this make any discernible impact on the case?

That scanner/printer isn't one you'd have at home. This could all be done at a kinkos or at OP's job, but it's still interesting.

Let's say it's real. There is a cursor on every page. The person screenshotted each page, printed the form, then scanned it as a PDF on the printer? If this was done at the courthouse they are probably fucked. Those printers keep logs of most everything.

Then again, podunk Minnesota town. Maybe not.

It's been explained to me that hair follicles are like tree rings and that's why those tests can go so far back in time. Surface contamination won't produce a false-positive.

That's not necessarily true. Hair can absorb compounds through contact with various different surfaces and follicle tests are notorious for environmental contamination and false positives from things as simple as hair products, which has gotten police officers who handle these cases in trouble in both Australia and the US. Apparently blacks are more susceptible to it (because of course they are), which I guess further conforms Nick's theory that's he's a real nigga.

Seriously though, assuming it's not a false positive, I think there's a reasonable explanation beyond the fact that they were feeding their 9 year old cocaine. First of all, she goes to school, so somebody would have noticed an abrupt shift in behavior if they also recognized the other sighs they were facing neglect. The Rekietas weren't cleaning their house at all and were using regularly, so it's possible that this kid had a chore or an activity that got her contaminated, like she was tasked with buying something with a used bill or handling their clothes or something.

I buy carelessness, arrogance or neglect from the Rekietas, and it's still really fucking back that the kids are in the position at all, but I don't think they're at that level.

Given the information concerning Balldo's lack of care concerning exposure of minors to his cocaine, I would find it easy to believe that Nick left shit out where children could have access to it either out of laziness, lack of real care, or by accident.

The only thing that I find hard to believe is that upon being exposed to cocaine, the child sniffed it up—either inadvertently or purposefully—with such a dosage that it would show up in the concentration that it did. I think it's more likely that a nine year old child could have messed with it or touched it. I could also see the child ingesting it because it was mistaken for another substance, like a sugary powder.

Either way, it's dire.

Don't forget there was the incident where he had to cancel a stream because someone in the house needed to be constantly monitored. If she saw a pile of "sugar" and swiped her finger through it to eat it that could be the cause. I'm assuming it'll show up in a follicle test no matter how it enters your system, but I'm no expert.
