My God the story was so fucking trash, not surprised but also sad

I'm so pissed they turned the Kamidogu into fucking INFINITY STONES, they had awesome designs & the Nexus is one of my favorite fictional "abysses" of all time.

Also where the fuck is Shao (Kahn)???? Isn't he supposed to be brutally raping Outworld as this is all happening, waging an entire war, & not even a single showcase?? Also, WHERE THE FUCK IS ONAGA????? Why bring him up like 20 times only to not mention him even ONCE in the story?? They made him seem like he was gonna wreck total shit & possibly be the "true" villain, but nope. Imagine if they had Onaga come & buttrape everyone like in Deception, gutting Havik in-front of everyone & inheriting all the Kamidogu power PLUS HIS KHAOS, that would be 1000x more enjoyable than whatever this garbage is.

The only good thing out of this was Havik, he's a pretty enjoyable villain, I just wish his power level made sense, btw WTF happened to Havik lol?? Is he dead or what?? They showed what happened to Noob more than Havik.

Yes. Originally he was supposed to be the final boss in MK2, and was supposed to be menacing, badass and cunning to match with his Konqueror role. He poisoned Onaga, the strongest MK character, and in his MKD ending, he conquered Outworld after he defeated Onaga; and even fused all realms with Outworld in MKA, but was driven to madness. Nothing's bigger and more menacing than old era Shao Kahn.
Until MK11 fucks him up and botched his character, and turning him into a brawn over brains brute force jobber that has daddy issues for no unknown reason. And MK11 degraded him into a retard general jobber with Reiko. It's a huge shit in the meal for what was one of the most iconic character of MK.

Doubleposting, but when I was a little kid; I got hyped and laughed when Cage punches Goro’s balls when he breaks his 500 dollars sunglasses. It still stuck in my memories a lot, even with my enjoyment of the original 1995 movie, in spite of its low budget. Christopher Lambert Raiden was the precursor of the long white hair design of Raiden, and why it’ll always be a way to instantly recognize him with his ajirogasa and glowing blue eyes/lightning. MK2 Raiden is what I remember Raiden as when I was a kid; but his default MK11 skin was nice for referencing in my drawings too.

I would also keep mashing buttons in the MK2 and UMK3 arcade machines; especially with Raiden and Stryker. Even in MK3, I do occasionally main Sonya, Liu Kang, Ketchup or Mustard. It’s always a childhood memory to me. Wanted to hear the thread’s childhood with MK for fun.

My first ever MK game was Armageddon on the og Xbox. and my favorite characters were the ninjas. I would always pick Sub-zero and Ermac and spam their range attacks like a little shit. I wouldn't get a new MK game until 2011, when I got MK9 and the original trilogy on Xbox Live Arcade. Ermac and Sonya were my mains in MK9's online mode, but I would always get my ass handed to me.

Grew up with MK since first one. I'm not going to lie: this series, while it was my favorite. was very hit and miss. MK9 was fun when a local comic store had fighting game nights (I would beat people with Smoke and Raiden, but a good Ermac player would bitchslap me). UMK3 is probably my favorite, but Deception wasn't bad.

You guys should look into Mugen MK games, and by that I mean the ones that only focus on the pre-9 story, have no shitty custom made characters, and only go up to MK4 or Armageddon. I think there is a 2D version of MK4 if you look around. I wish you could play these online.

I got introduced to MK through my cousin, he had a few of the games and my brother and I would play against each other when we visited him. We'd do the fatalities and brutalities on each other, and I remember being scared of the moaning trees in the Living Forest in MK2. Baraka's face also used to freak me out.

Another problem i've always had with nu mortal kombat is how the series lost it's downright horror, eerie atmosphere and dark aesthetics that was one of the many things that made it standout among other fighting games and i'm glad someone really pointed it out
MK Armageddon's menu theme never fails to unnerve me when listening to it for too long
I could rant all day honestly about how much the atmosphere and identity that made OG mortal kombat so great and special is just gone now, another case of throwing away something cool and special to chase the marvel capeshit crowd
