I really can't help but feel Netherealm was blindsided by Street Fighter 6. Feedback has been unanimous that SF6's story is a monumental success. So incredibly ironic that Mortal Kombat had pioneered the basic concept of that mode with Deception's Konquest mode. I have no doubt that Mortal Kombat 13 is going to have Konquest replacing the interactive movie. Hell given how long game development takes it's probably in the planning stages.

All of em look like shit. NRS is a tranny dev studio and they've turned all women into flat cardboard with no sex appeal or muscle and all the dudes into either monotone soys or Joss Whedon-esque "witty" comedy relief.

Ed Boon seems to have either forgotten that "not taking yourself seriously" doesn't mean your characters shouldn't take their universe seriously, or his tranny underlings have rotted his brain with AGP smut.
The franchise should've died with MK9 as the love-letter goodbye.
I'd say it should've stopped after MKX, mainly because it led to many good things & is a fun (at least above average) experience despite it's flaws.

But yeah, MK11 shouldn't have existed honestly. It's the true beginning of the end for this series.

It really feels like the facial scan technology somehow scans an accurate model of the face but I dunno it's like it's like centimeters above leading to some fuckery.

I mean those cheekbones the game model has, that's not like the woman. And it looks like the woman's nose is actually bigger and yeah that alteration alone might give an uncanny valley effect.

As many have noted it's just bizarre how women game models come out weird while the dudes look fine. Also they're so scared to have the girls wear makeup and it's like why? Women put on lipstick & cosmetics because it makes them pretty.

To play devils advocate, makeup doesn't make much sense, generally speaking, if you're planning on or are likely to get into a fight like most people in the MK/Fighting game world. No reason to put any eye shadow on if you're just gonna get dropkicked in the teeth for lunch.

You don't need to try too hard to justify not having makeup on some characters based on their personality/design, but half the fucking women in MK are some sort of royalty or generally a femme fatal type. Of course they'd be wearing makeup. Of course they'd be above average at least. Also why the fuck do all the men look like faggoty twinks now?

And Im not even the type who whines about "muh waifu" in vidya, but the very obvious ugly-ing if real women used for the game models is just insulting to the model herself. The recent Fable example is a good one.

I don't understand why it's so acceptable to have these ultra ripped, handsome male characters but God forbid you have an attractive girl to play as. It's no wonder that it seems most people make their own sexy chicks in a game if given the chance. Devs sure won't fuckin give em to you now.

Ubisoft recently admitted online that they purposefully make their women models ugly to cater to the special snowflakes on twitter.

The create-a-character story in SF6 has been a unanimous success? I've only heard people saying it's a shallow grind fest that does the bare minimum of teaching you the controls, with a preference for modern, that really only ends up being a "jam as many goofy supers into the toon as you can" mode.

And let's not pretend like it takes much to be better than NR's story modes in the first place. Konquest was fuckin shit, and only worth doing for unlockables. Then they fucked it up more in Armageddon. We also had Shaolin Monks which was a glorified beatemup.

So considering that competition, and the failure that was SFVs story mode, calling the 6 one a success is like saying your shit stinks less than the other guys.

Plus I'd argue NR is constantly caught off guard by their own shadow. They haven't gone one fucking game without changing everything up. From the character designs to the gameplay. The only constant since the 9 reboot has been x-rays, and that's largely considered a shitty addition because it's like Ultras in SF4. Either you do it raw and chunk the enemy, or you combo it and the scaling fucks you while you waste your meter as well as just padding out game time when used.

Well all I know is you can look at this painting of Joan of Arc from 5 centuries ago and notice that the artist made her lips red and added rosy cheeks. So even back then there were artists who were making girls prettier in art.

Like Mortal Kombat is supposed to be hyper violent and sexualized. That's the whole schtick. All the characters are supposed to look cool like capeshit. But the weird thing is that NRS can make better models. Sonya looks fine to me, she's got her green jumpsuit back as the default (it was DLC in MK11). So it's just weird. As a positive I really like Sonya's Kameo Fatality, it's just an old school fatality and MKX/11's overtly long fatalities have grown stale.

I had a blast with MK9's story/movie. It was a CGI retelling the classic trilogy which nerds my age certainly have nostalgia for. For this game doing that again but in a universe where everything is different is kinda weak to me. Although I guess I can't blame them they're pretty much admitting the MKX-11 lore sucked dick.

But anyway Deception's Konquest mode was fun for the weekend I played it for. And hell I remember having a blast with Armageddon's story mode. Street Fighter 6's Adventure Mode is like a budget Yakuza and I think that will work well in a Mortal Kombat. Also you using beatemup as an insult offends me Shaolin Monks may not have been as good what Japan makes (DMC, Ninja Gaiden) but it was a fun little game. Sometimes you just want a mindless action game I miss when AAA studios did stuff like that hell one of my favorite PS2 games is The Warriors.

As for X-Rays/Fatal Blows it's apparently being retooled quite a bit. These two MK nerds talk about it.

Instead of being proud of their Nubian heritage that the media always forgets exits even though history states that they were more feared in war than Egyptians (you could pay a small fortune to have their archers fight for you). I understand that changes can be made because Liu Kang now controls the timeline, but there's no reason why everyone has to look terrible. This just comes off as some stupid political statement along with every other game making their characters look ugly. If I want to see ugly people while playing a game I'll head to one of my LGS.

That game was hella fast now that I remember, got MK11 right after playing X and Tekken 7 and it felt way too slow, zoney and clunkey. Mortal One Kombat feels the same, plus nigger looks and a weird ass tag assist system no one asked for. I know they won't do it, but I wonder how a modern 3d MK would work, Tekken could finally get some 1v1 rival.

I'm half-tempted to post the concept art I have of her, because she does not look like that in it. It's the same design, but the way it looks in it and the way it looks here are nothing alike.

But then, it hasn't been published anywhere yet that I can find, and I'm wary of outright leaking things.

BUT SHE JUST DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THAT IN THE CONCEPT ART. I guess what they say about uglying them down for "respect" is true.

I won't rehash all the bullshit I've already posted, but I'm glad they're stepping on the gas with this shit. They already got shit for MK11 with covering all the women up and Jax's woke ending. Keep making all the women ugly and make all the men faggots with mismatched boring costumes.

The fact they're already showed the kameo roster before the game is even out shows how creatively bankrupt NR is that they're padding the roster of every game with this nonsense shit. But even the MK characters they DO have all look awful lol. MK11 had some good designs, but this top to bottom is all around god awful character designs.

I don't like the drastic changes in SF6 but at least the characters themselves are unmolested for the most part and all the classic outfits are excellent.

She's got a Xbox360/PS3 Unreal Engine 3 type body model with a faux-realistic high-poly head. Disgusting.
And that's not a knock on old graphics. Jade's pigtail outfit from Deception is low-poly yet looks dreamy.
