Shang Tsung comes across as an old sassy bitch in this game, I don't think it was intentional but its irritating because there's not really any menace here. When it does pop up its by accident and its a shame cause the voice actor is doing a wonderful impersonation of Tagawa, but the shit writing doesn't give him much. I don't know why they went more with the mad scientist version of Shang Tsung in this game but the classic sorcerer variant is more interesting.

Titan Shang Tsung doesn't get much of anything to do other than go "nyah-nyah, mine now". Gods, titans, whatever in the MK series keep getting neutered to the point they're just power ranger villains. There's nothing special about them anymore.
His VA claims the sass wasn’t intentional.

I get what you mean though, was disappointed at how non-menacing he was in comparison to the announcement trailer.

It amuses that even with the pandering to SJWs by no longer "sexualizing" female characters in the games that came after MK9, most of the female characters still fight in heels :story:

They implemented it purely for the EVO pedophiles to cum to.
Or Maximilian Dood to rate on his shit streams with his shit friends for their shit consoomer fans.

But that's not skin, so that's totes okay! They are women so they can step on the patriarchy with their feminisit heels!

After all, "Who's your queen?"

Kidding aside, I continue to fucking hate that Sindel quote. I hate that it's on the top of her wikia page too like it's some memorable piece of dialogue.

Adding to that is that from what i’ve seen they want to eat their cake, too. Watching through some of the story mode there’s a couple of instances where they portray these characters as attractive enough to have the men notice and go cartoon over them, freaking Johnny Cage of all people going bonkers over that plain faced blue fridge Kitana wearing a hijaab and side shaved painfully average looking Mileena

It’s very hard to believe these are supposed to be attractive women when you take away everything that makes a woman attractive from them

What baffles me is the likeness of Sindel and Li Mei are both based off of Kelly Hu yet she is voices Li Mei, not Sindel when it would have been more fitting for her to voice the latter. Also, while Li Mei appears to be younger than Sindel, both of them look worst compared to how Kelly Hu currently looks.

I still don't understand why they decided to bring back all the shit tier characters no one ever gave a fuck about from the PS2 trilogy. It's almost as if it's a fuck you to the fans. We're supposed to pretend these characters were always good, when they just look like generic bullshit you'd see in every Star Wars game right now.

So Tanya wasn't the only woman that got buttfucked in the mocap department. That's "nice", I guess.

Why couldn't they just create stylized renders like Tekken and DOA?

Would be less expensive too because they didn't have to spend money on mocap actors and could instead funnel it into a proper looking Switch port.

Thats so baffling to me because a lot of western devs do it, "No woman looks like this!" then they proceed to uglify the face models they get and call that "realistic"

A small channel on YT actually did an interesting look as to why the bad scriptwriting makes the game look even worse than the repetitive gameplay known for the latter half of its series output.

Dude thinks he's God's gift to the FGC despite being a washed out, never-was pro, who did nothing behind the scenes to get the shit going, and is solely known for "Boss Rage" and "Rate The Super" videos. Faggot acts like he's Gootecks or James Chen and was on the ground floor helping build the scene by filming and organizing events, shuttling players to tournaments and letting them crash on his couch and shit. He's a meme and nothing more.

He is and always was a hype man; and while a hype man may have an edge in the early days, he is eventually edged out by others. He's a friendly face to draw attention, for the era where you won't be called a nigger and didn't risk having Mike Watson show up your house with a baseball bat. I wouldn't be surprised if he makes his millions off other games and stuff now, since he's shown what a good little boy he can be (on top of being Twitch popular); I'm also shocked he hasn't moved on from fighting games, despite being a multi-millionaire.

My knowledge of the anything beyond the character's looks is very limited, but I didn't realize the Kameo system worked like that? It makes perfect sense to just expand the moveset. Why make it a separate thing?

Reminds me of Armageddon where they cut the balls off all the fighting styles everyone had and gave everyone one, and a weapon and spread it out across the new part of the roster of returning characters.

I just don't understand why these games are beloved like they are. It's very baffling since it's so alien compared to what MK was. I'll die on the hill that the PS2 era was still good, albeit different. I loved it's gameplay system with the multi styles and in game pit fatalities in Deception.

This, is the textbook definition of goyslop. The way these retards talk about the story in YT comments is like a collective psychosis. They're the same way with capeshit. They think everything made for man babies is so deep. It isn't.

It's quite clear that MK cannot function, with a heavy handed story mode. Text boxes and spread out cutscenes with mid ladder of arcade and ending should be all it has. Even as far back as MK9 I thought the "story" was too much. I did like the idea of rewriting the past, but it was done so fucking poorly.

They never explained what causes Tarkot or what Mileena's fate is as queen or exile...

Liu Kang's timeline sucks, give the big hourglass back to Kronika, slope.

The storyline for the MK games seemed to take center stage once they released exclusively for home consoles. Rather than using the Konquest mode that was featured in Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon to advance the overall plot (and the gameplay varied between games), the story mode played out like an movie that lets the player participate in via the fights. The more I think about it, that is really boring for this entertainment medium. While Shaolin Monks was criticized for how some characters were depicted and it being non-canon with regards to the events of the first two games, at least having it be an action-adventure beat 'em up was an interesting format and replay value, especially if you did not unlock everything.
It was good when MK9 did it though, since fighting games as a whole were so barebones yet demanded the $60 premium like other genres did. Capcom put no effort into their games outside of the interests of the FGC no-lifes, who only wanted VS, arcade, and a practice mode. MK9 at the time of release felt like it had infinity+ more content by comparison.
A fighting game where the lore and story take priority can work, but that requires the story to be good, which MKX-12 most certainly haven't been.

But we live in an era where standards are fascism and mediocrity is praised, so we get these half-asses stories with more holes than swiss cheese and no resolution or substance.
And even then, I'd never call MK a game with much substance, but at least it was genuine in it's exploitation-film-like gore and style fueled by a horny nerd called Ed Boon. Today his tranny employees and DEI paymasters have nothing genuine about them or their intent.

Or Maximilian Dood to rate on his shit streams with his shit friends for their shit consoomer fans.
I can tolerate Max whenever his friends are not onstream, particularly Simmons. That fat tranny-chaser loves to spout his word as law and gets mad and demands Max's mods ban anyone who either challenges him or says something he doesn't like (like when they banned Daigo [yes, that Daigo] for a brief instant because he "mis-gendered" a tranny which sent Simmons into a rage and only calmed down once Max realized it was Daigo and made up some bullshit excuse for his tranny audience why a pleb gets the banhammer forever but Daigo has to be unbanned) He definitely has CP in his hard drive.

- He makes millions on millions. To the point he stopped using a consumer ISP and had an industrial-tier ISP add his home to their network, something reserved for hospitals and airports, all because no consumer ISP could deliver gigabit internet in his neighborhood. The dude has extremely high-tier internet and pays out the ass for it, yet he's admitted most of his donations cover the monthly costs. It would be literally cheaper to buy a second home with access to gigabit internet or a high-rise apartment downtown and stream from there, but he's so loaded he can just pay for a company to install industrial-tier infrastructure for his home instead.
- He has the ear of a lot of devs at Capcom and NRS to the point his ideas are often implemented in patches. He is fully onboard with the Islamification of NRS' characters and has suggested to Capcom to follow suit. His friends even more so and go so far as to call sexy women like Cammy or Chun-Li "outdated and harmful".

- He has major influence at EVO despite not being much more than a hype man for the event. He's also shit on Gootecks for the awful crime of voting for a politician Max doesn't like and applauded EVO and the FCG's decision to shun him.

- He mostly streams Capcom slop these days or whatever publishers pay him to promote for the evening. Outside of Street Fighter he's only really into Tekken. I guarantee you once the NRS checks stop coming after the MK1 DLC he'll stop caring or playing the game at all, just like he did with MK11. He doesn't care about any fighting game very much besides these. He stopped playing KoF XV, Guilty Gear, DBFZ, etc.

Damn, I didn't all that about Max, but I haven't wandered into his streams or watched a video since... ... ... Probably around Benny's passing, and that was taken up mostly with DSP's retardation.

Please tell me there's a highlight or something of this. I need a laugh, and the thought of Simmons dropping the hammer on Daigo is just... ... ... Holy fuck, hahahahah.

That aside, Gootecks was done dirty. Dude was literally around since the days of IRC and had a good show with Mike Ross. He gets a light case of red pill tourettes about Corona and Politicians, and now he's unclean and unwelcome. He didn't even insult women or drop the nigger word.

I played for a few hours at my local. It's hard to explain and i would kill to learn more about what went on behind the scenes, but the game and the kameo fighter system gives me the feeling that this game was tugged in several different directions during development and left us with an unsatisfying compromise.

It all feels like they overestimated how much of an impact kameos have in terms of complexity and tried to tone down the lead characters to compensate? Or someone on that team really wanted to revisit tag fighting from 9 and got shot down. I'm not exactly sure but it left me wanting either a full out tag team game ( or hell keep Kameos & go the marvel vs capcom 1 route) or just having better rounded lead characters

i dunno, I stopped being interested in MK since the ones on the Gamecube (what's that? 6-8?) everything since then seems a DLC infested shitshow and I'm not going to pay 60 bucks for half the experience.

Unfortunately, I feel since the first reset in MK9, NRS realized they have a "get-out-of-jail-free" card with time travel/multiverse stuff. Anything goes at this point, and the suits understand that the more you can milk a product from a business standpoint, all the more for it. So... as much as it's sad, I can see and understand the why.

A LOT of people wanted MK11 to be about Dark Raiden and Onaga, myself included. Since MK9 was the original trilogy "minor remix" and MKX actually sticking to such changes, MK11 was a big wtf with how cheap it felt as a story. Gameplay-wise, MK11 was like a bastardized Injustice 2 with a block button and muddy input with the default being "long" for appealing to casual-casuals.

Been playing MK1. When you take into consideration the prior "modern trilogy" of MK9-MKX-MK11, this one feels like a hodgepodge of all three. Visually, it's a combination of MK9 and MKX in MK11's fidelity, while the combat feels like MKX (when you change input to short over long, fuck casual-casuals).

The story, while serviceable, wasn't as bad as the new Kharacters beating established ones or defeating new power players (Baraka and Mileena death, Kotal beaten by Kombat Kids). MK1 was entertaining without being overindulgent for the normie, which MK11 had that in spades.
