The fans have bitched about what skin colors humanized members of the cast should have. Go back a few pages to see some racist comments about a black girl cosplaying as Twilight. There are multiple interpretations of each character being a different ethnicity as humans, but some racist assholes always have to raise Hell over it. Equestria girls wrote around that by giving all the humans the same skin colors as their ponies, so the bomb was sidestepped. THEN they release this video, implying all the main cast are either the equivalent of white girls or lighter-toned girls.

Now, this has to do something with the stores that sell the product. With cases such as Barbie, stores want less dolls of color because they claim "they don't sell." Now, I'm not going to spend all night looking at Barbie sale's figures (I like to believe that I have some form of life), so I'm going to just post this news article.
