Name a game you hate but everyone else loves - Because you have opinions too <3

I've tried so hard to get into stuff like Hearthstone and Gwent, but I can never get past the nagging feeling my personal ability has very little to do with the game. I never felt like my losses were borne from mistakes, or that my victories were the result of skillful play. Watching more experienced players doesn't help either, as I can't follow what's going on.

More annoying than anything as I really wanted to get into them.

I lament the fact that every game nowadays needs to be an open-world sandbox to be considered good. I personally like being given objectives and accepting missions in a linear order. I just miss the days of doing what I need to do in one stage and the anticipation of moving on to the next one.

That's a lot of CCG type games tbh. Tabletop based games in general tend to have some element of chance in them since they're turn-based and not real-time and player input doesn't have anything to do with the game. Knowing the game system and how everything works is pretty much how "good" players play them. A lot of CCGs/TCGs are in casual play more about just enjoying the theme and having fun. I played Magic mostly because I liked fantasy and that's what there was back then.

What don't you like about it, out of interest?

It's a really generic horde shooter that is getting tons of positive attention because of mob mentality and that's about it. It just blows my mind when you have some simplistic mediocre trash like that getting 98% positive ratings on Steam and then games with so much more effort, time, skill and heart put into them getting 70's and 80's. It's not the worst game ever made, but it's not anything special either.

there was DayZ and H1Z1 King of the Kill
I might be wrong, but the game, that shaped this god-awful genre was Culling. You start unarmed, weapons from droppacks, the area is getting smaller, because of poisonous gas, the last survivor is the winner - everything is there. H1Z1 was more like a clone of DayZ before that.

Yup. Sadly I wanted a colorful team-FPS to rival TF2 since Valve is a bunch of howler monkeys.

I hope you didn't add the part about the dev team constantly breaking the game with updates as a reason to like it, though.

Sad really. I enjoy Overwatch as a TF2 replacement of sorts since every fucking mainstream shooter is either a twitch reflex shooter or another battle royale.

Any of the Civilization games, to be honest. I know that VI is getting hate from most everyone, but I'm talking the earlier games too. I know that not everyone wants to play full on history sperg games like Paradox games and modded Total War games (for the battles) and prefer more casual history based games, but I've never found any of the Civ games mechanically fun or remotely well balanced.

It's weird, too, because I like Alpha Centauri.

Seconded.
  • killing randy NPCs gives you bad alignment.
  • donating the money you took from the randy NPCs' corpses to your camp gives you good alignment.
The game is basically an anarcho communism simulator wearing cowboy clothes. Think about it. Gotta "earn your keep" and pay into the camp funds. Everyone contribute! We all succeed! Steal from Cornwall! Pit the wealthy families against one another! oh yea and killing people randomly is bad unless they're the evil klan members heh take that racists ;)

This game makes the previous one that much better. Thank God John killed all those commie scum
Calm down nigga, a lot of that can be applied to pretty much anything with a basebuilding mechanic, by your logic Phantom Pain is Philip Vincent Haskins-Delici Simulator 2015, hell Venom Snake even wants to make an Australatina for soldiers. Also, I’m pretty sure the Van Der Linde gang was portrayed as kinda cultish on purpose, Dutch likes to fancy himself as a charismatic leader who can do no wrong and only has everyone else’s best interest in mind.

For me it's gonna be CSGO, GTA V, and Overwatch.

CSGO I used to dump many hours into after high school, but the game slowly started to crash and burn for me after a while. Then my friend I went to High School with that I played with just came out of the blue as a gigantic asshat, got his main account banned because he decided to install an aimbot and wallhack software, and DDoS'd his entire team during a crucial part of a competitive match because he got bored of playing at Gold Nova levels and wanted to go back to pissing off silvers.

GTA V was an alright game, the plot wasn't bad, but it was far weaker compared to the previous games imo. I tried out the online part for five minutes before leaving and uninstalling the game from my hard drive because of all the cheating 12 year olds screaming in the mic.

I never played Overwatch, but the day they announced it all the way back in 2014, I already knew "this game is gonna be hot fucking shit". All my friends begged me to buy it and play it with them, so I just dumped another 600 hours into TF2 just to spite them. Now nearly 3 years later, my friends begging me to play Overwatch with them won't even touch the game with a 10 mile long pole.

Calm down nigga
No. There was a lot of trash in that game and it fell short of its predecessor. It featured a black gang member who (while talking to Dutch at a campsite) recounted how his ancestor was a slave but oh he was the most educated in town... but still a slave. WHAO THAT'S SO NEAT HE WAS SMARTER THAN HIS SLAVE OWNERS BUT HE COULD'VE WENT TO LIKE COLLEGE I BET, ISN'T THAT NEAT?? a major character in the game was a woman who wanted to be a cowgirl gunslinging outlaw. OMG WOW WOMEN CAN BE STRONG LIKE A MAN TOO I MEAN SURE THIS IS A PERIOD PIECE BUT I BET THERE WERE A LOTTA FEMALE OUTLAWS FOR SURE!!!

we are currently one rockstar game away from a female playable character. now I want you to sit there and think about defending this game and by extension the direction rockstar is headed. think about what you're doing. the next GTA game is going to have a female playable character because muh feminism and here you are defending this trash. Shame on you.

Bottom text indeed, buddy. Because reeeing about the problem a forum of fat men who make fun of lolcows will just magically turn RDR2 into Ethnic Cleansing 2: Springtime for Dylan Roof
