And sure, Texas is bad, but turning it into Mini-Dega 2 would mean IndyCar never goes there again, and that would piss me off.
Borderline Indycar thread material but this was also my thought, and that it might be part of the point.

I'm actually impressed at how much NASCAR and the SMI/ISC duopoly want to hold down Indycar.

NASCARbros, we are so fucking back. Daytona is always a good time, extra fun in person, but the second straight finish under yellow was a definite wet fart for a decent Superspeedway race. Really cool to see the stands packed on a Monday but the weather up until 11 on Monday was a definite bummer. We follow that up with a race of the year contender from flag to flag (Even with an excess of wrecking in stage 3) and the definitive finish of the year, it's gonna be hard not to be spoiled for a while. I wonder how many people coming from the Netflix series were tuned in for that.

I want to spotlight Chase Briscoe. Indy RC, Bristol Dirt, Coke 600, and tonight, he has been hellbent on wrecking the field for position on a consistent basis. If there's anyone in the series that's been asking for as ass-kicking, it's him, and I'm a little shocked it hasn't come his way yet.

On a selfish note, I had an extra ticket for Daytona that I can get a ticket for another race thanks to the rain delay. From the tracks that are available, I've been trying to figure out what would be the best use would be, including taking the free ticket for next year:

The options I'm looking at, in vaguely preferential order:

Chicago:
+ One of the most interesting options, probably not going to be on the schedule for much more seasons, novelty and nice backdrop
- Probably the most expensive options for a hotel, etc.

Martinsville:
+ Fall Martinsville has consistently delivered since being the penultimate race
- I don't trust the short track package to not be ass, I don't know anything about the surrounding area as far as a place to visit

Watkins Glen:
+ Bucket list for attendance, history of good races, looks like a fun atmosphere
- I don't trust the RC package to not be ass again this year

Darlington:
+ Probably the best track on the list, free ticket to a crown jewel
- Probably the worst outside the track, I haven't been to Darlington but I've heard it's BFE

Daytona 2025:
+Save a couple hundred bucks
-No extra race this year

If anyone has experience at these tracks or any I haven't looked at it'd be appreciated.

Any updates for Las Vegas tracks for next year?

I looked up Breidinger when I saw the controversy. My first instinct was 'bitch you're from Marin, no way are you uwu poor girl'. Still don't know what hed family does. But more importantly it was 'uwu I'm not rich kid' and then mentions the absolute avalanche of sponsors she has because she are gurl and... Honey, you too are the a pay driver. Just someone else is writing the check.
Speaking of that, I saw a Raising Cane's billboard with her on my way back from work. It's the first Nascar ad I've seen in years. There's no Chase Elliott ads at Napa, there's no Ricky Stenhouse displays in Kroger, there's no #43 inside Dollar Tree, but this girl who took 4 years to run a full-time ARCA schedule gets national media attention.

Hey, at least Honda might be here! ...And they might be gone from Indycar.

Yeah, uh, I don't get it. I mean, I get it but I don't get it.

Also if we're going to have calls to Atlantify 1.5 milers every time there's a good finish, I guess we need a term for this type of track. I put forth: Cookie Plate tracks.

Overall...good race, even if it got a little boring in the middle sector. Ford has nailed the plate track package, not so much the intermediate one. The race was dominated all day by the Chevys and Toyotas, and the battle for the lead at the end more than made up for the lack of action in the last 100 laps. Kyle Larson takes the win, beating out the smug California liberal at the line, and racists everywhere rejoice.

Caruth actually won the Truck race. Maybe I've been hating too much, and he does have talent. Or maybe he doesn't. It seems a little too early to tell. Regardless, having Bubba Wallace in his ear 24/7 is not going to be a good move for his career (and fan reception). The DEI drivers have gotten to a point where I start automatically hating them even if they've done nothing to deserve it. I hear "first X/Y to race a car" and instantly start hating. Heck, I've even started getting mildly pissed at Daniel Suarez, who is white as snow and has done absolutely nothing to deserve any hate.

"Will this be the year Daniel Suarez breaks out?" No, it won't.
"Will this be the year Bubba Wallace breaks out?" No, it won't.

Unless I'm missing something why are there no good NASCAR games? With Racing such a broad genre of Gaming you think we would have something better that is more recent than Dirt to Daytona and Nascar: Thunder.

It would be a niche title aimed at the American market. Brian France likes money so he will happily just go for the most cost-effective solution of a yearly edition cashgrab, in the style of EA. There is little desire to improve because the primary market for them is a tired parent who wants to surprise little Timmy with a wholesome wroom-wroom game for his gaming console. The ultra-sweaty racing nerds who actually want this game already have iRacing and about 8 zillion mods for NR2003. They will inevitably nitpick the game to death and it won't appeal to either the bottom line or little Timmy can't figure out why he keeps losing in the wroom-wroom game his parents bought him.

You are missing out. Any NASCAR game before 2010 are kino. And, if it technically counts, DAAAAAYTONA

It has benefitted/suffered from also being just about the only motorsport (along with F1 and sometimes WRC) to have enough of an audience anywhere to do a yearly cycle.

MotoGP also is capable of doing this, but only because there aren't exactly a lot of games about motorcycle racing in the first place.

Oh for sure I loved Dirt to Daytona and the old NASCAR Thunders, used to play it a lot back in the day on PS2. I just mean more recently, as in within the lifespan of the 8th Generation of Consoles.

Aren't you forgetting about one of the greatest games of all time?

There was another neat NASCAR game that appealed to normies and legit fans alike: NASCAR Rumble for the PSX.

It was basically the 2000 Cup season roster going full Mario Kart in gimmicky tracks. Fun as hell, especially since you could also unlock stuff like new tracks, NASCAR legends, new tracks and even new and harder racing modes.

They should do something like that again, but I'm afraid nobody would want to race as Kyle Larson or fucking Bubba Wallace. They aren't Dale Sr. or Jeff Gordon.

I unironically liked this game, but the other 360 Burger King title, Sneak King, was a disappointment

Turns out all Nascar needed to do to have a good short track race was have the tires shred themselves to bits. Wow. I've never seen Nascar tires drop marbles until last Sunday.

NBC wants Leigh Diffey to be their play-by-play from now on. Nothing against Diff, I love the man, but the Nascar booth is one place where foreigners shouldn't be.

I was literally out in the woods when I read that the other day. Though I am Diffey-neutral, I cannot imagine the Cup audience taking a cotton to Mr. Screechy. No Dale and (related) probably remote commentators, I do wonder what NBC is doing here, riding out the contract they just got?

Cup fans (sometimes) gripe about Junior and DW gettin' too worked up. What's the reaction going to be when it's not a beloved ex-driver doing it but some gut'damn furrin'er?

On the tires, I fear this result. I was listening on the radio and immediately thought 'welp they're going to go 100% self-destructo tires like F1 now'.

Never understood why Short Track Racing exists, people are turning so much you can hardly see the cars crank it on a straightaway.

Welp. Road course racing time for NASCAR (even though that weekend has been wrapped up). Also, might as well spark up some discussion since this thread has been somewhat dead for almost a week.
