Well yeah, a lot of titles suck because they offer nothing a random DOOM/Quake custom map doesn't offer (and often have worse weapons and/or enemy rosters) while you get other games that are just Something Else like the three or so Retro Grafix NuDooms.

Edit: I thought it was my potato PC acting funny at first, but no, the Kingpin remaster is hot trash, avoid it.

The Kingpin remaster is yet another example of why nu3DR is a shitty company and Fred being an absolute hack.

In 2014 he claimed to be in possession of Kingpin's source code, but when the remaster released, he started to claim that it got lost and that the remaster is a reverse-engineering work based on Unity.

And of course, the remaster is an absolute mess, like every nu3DR/Slipgate/Interceptor product, it's so bad that it made ShillmanLives (almost) produce a good video for once.



And the game is getting shitted on by everyone on the Steam reviews and forums.

The remaster itself doesn't have any multiplayer, but the game does come with the original version as a bonus that has the multiplayer, so i expect some spergs to go full ACKSHUALLY about it.

It's good but barren from what I hear. Literally just the main campaign, which is incredibly short as it is, and that's it.

Wait for a sale, unless online multiplayer and/or bot matches get added.

That reminds me; Since this isn't an explicitly boomer shooter thread anymore, are there any good modern (i.e newer than tf2) deathmatch/CTF arena shooters ala UT99, preferably with decent bots and/or high mobility? Quake Live's the only one I can think of that even comes close, and I remember it feeling weirdly off the last time I tried it.

Toxikk and Warfork comes to mind but both games are quite dead:
Xonotic gets updates more frequently and seems to be the most content-packed of the bunch:
There is also Splitgate, but it is quite different with the portals gimmick:
There is the single player focused Ghostware with "heavy lore", but most recent reviews claims the newest updates are deviating a bit from the original "arena shooter" idea:

I can't really put into words my annoyance at 'arena shooter' being the primary tag on both unreal tournament and every vampire survivors clone ever.

Regardless, this caught my eye in the sea of sprites. Big UT vibes from the map design, might give it a shot.

How’s the early access for Forgive Me Father 2 going? The first game is perfectly competent but something never quite click in it for me.
