That dude shows up everytime there's a well-voiced complaint about the community at large or the moderation. He always takes this dumb viewpoint of "Well I've never had any problems here.....I've never felt scared about the repercussions of posting my opinions.....therefore there is definitely nothing wrong." I don't think he's a troll. More likely just a very well-polished bootlicker. Many people on the forum are in a weird bubble even about the quality of the moderation. The sheer volume of posts makes it difficult to read about what goes on and dissenting voices are silenced almost immediately. Half the lunacy that happens on the forum I wouldn't even know about if it wasn't pointed out here.

Anytime there's a thread about a left-wing mob dogpiling or abusing a former ally, the thread inevitably gets locked. Anytime they're wrong or go after the wrong person, the thread inevitably gets locked. Anytime a good point or example is made about the harmful effects of shame-dogpiling, the thread gets locked. Some people just have to be able to stick their heads in the sand and say "Na-na-na-na-na-na cancel culture doesn't exist."

There can't be any logical or rational discussion about Girlfriend Reviews or Lindsay Ellis, because they made a couple short sighted comments in the past. It's probably also worth noting that there have been no new Bayonetta games released since 2014. Trying to present the character as an example of a woman in "leading titles" is intellectually dishonest at best. The franchise wasn't even popular when it was seeing regular releases, and during its 7-8 year hiatus has become less and less prominent.

But if we were to replace every anime sex goddess and busty videogame heroine with a chubby chipmunk-cheeked tomboy like Aloy, the critics will still be ugly, undesirable, and self-conscious. Even if they were given the power to regulate every character design in gaming, it wouldn't change their own personal flaws. They will still be bitter and unhappy, because everyone in the real world will still prefer attractive people over unattractive people.

Their dogma is entirely dependent on the idea that people's standards, desires, and perceptions will change if we can simply alter representation in media......but at the end of the day the media is only reflecting the public's desires rather than affecting or influencing them. Seems like a pretty obvious fact-of-life, but these dumb-dumbs still don't quite get it. I hope these idiots can manage to stamp out every game character that dares show off more than 15 square inches of bare skin -- when they accomplish that and absolutely nothing changes, the disappointment and alienation is going to hit them like a ton of bricks.

That was actually a result of improperly recorded mocap data imposed on the model for the first reveal and they just had to roll with it due to time constraints and corona shit it seems. They were using a pretty advanced mocap system due to the skin deformation the model was able to achieve. Mocap requires a ton of different people to get a single session's worth of data compiled in the first place. It looked like the points for the mocap's animation were taken at a different angle which can fuck with the model if it's supposed to work with weights/envelopes of the rig. Mocap also takes a ton of hours to clean up before it's even viable.

you are 100% right and it exposes the fact that the complete basis of that argument is false and is completely narcissistic. "we only view skinny/muscular/busty/etc as attractive because of the media" and then they post pictures of gross fat black women, the argument that aesthetics are learned is so disgusting and it's not even just with how we see people, it's seeped into architecture and other forms of art as well and its upsetting.
