I know this isn't a topic of particular interest on KiwiFarms, but I've genuinely been amused watching the PSVR2 Hope Squad assemble over the past couple months. Ever since this $600 dud of a product debuted in November, people have been bored and unimpressed with the featuresless hardware and its boring launch game lineup. Since that fateful day, there have been a contingent of people desperately GameCounting (tm), hoping that if they simply say "It has 115 games planned" then that will somehow convince people that this overpriced toy will somehow become a success. All the while, unsold product has been available for pre-order on Sony's site without much interest. It's the first major 1st party hardware release that hasn't sold out in years.

Some portion of this narrative involves the desperate hope that Sony will somehow swoop in at the last minute with a press conference or State of Play, and announce titles that might actually make people consider buying a $550 peripheral. Even after Sony's tiresome CES presentation, there are folks that still think they still have gas in the tank, and will suddenly announce some world-changing exclusives. SPOILER: They won't. This thing is now weeks away from release, and if there were any major projects that they could still talk about, they would have announced them already.

I bought that original PSVR for cool shit like Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect. The games I played were all good, but the product was pretty shit. The headset drifted like a motherfucker, and Sony never really acknowledged the problem or offered any solutions. After about 30 minutes of play, I'd have to crane my neck 90 degrees to the left or right just to stay faced forward. The only reliable solution was to reset the whole fucking system and start from scratch.

Even without those issues, it was still not a great purchase and wound up collecting dust after the first year or so. I have a hard time buying into PSVR2 when the Quest 2 is wireless and much cheaper.
