No you don't understand, Imgur geoblocked the UK due to legal threats by ofcom. They weren't blocked by ofcom themselves and therefore they have nothing to do with it (also their investigation is ongoing because banning brits won't cut it).

Never did, Resetera is basically built on the most meager of shoestring budgets. even their mailing is done by Zoho jeetware.
I'm pretty sure with the state of their parent company's financials that the costs of a few SSDs and a container for varnish-cache would be prohibitive.

- Ofcom tries to fine Imgur for thoughtcrime or something
- Imgur doesn't want to pay and realizes they have their dick in a hornets nest so they geoblock the entire country to prevent future fines while this gets worked out
- This has nothing to do with Ofcom
