The fact they signed up for an LLC right away and had immediate intentions of monetizing it was the interesting bit for me. ResetEra is a clearly for-profit site with a bunch of cult of personalities at the top. Shinobi is an administrator, and I believe is tied up in the corporate entity, meanwhile he's PR for some indie game studio.

People have long joked and rumored about NeoGAF being some Sony shill site, with known ties to active PR people. Now ResetEra is literally operated and partially owned by a PR shill/cult of personality hiding behind an overtly for-profit LLC. It's hard to call this a community endeavor, rather a poaching of membership from NeoGAF for business purposes.

ResetEra feels more like a business project to me than a genuine attempt at cultivating and maintaining a community. The fact that they have and are still fighting dirty via DDOS/porno threads..etc confirms it.

This is one thing I find shady about ResetEnema, they set up very, very quickly, almost like it was pre-planned. The fact that someone registered here and tried to use us as a PA against GAF supports that there were more machinations at play here than it initially seems.

The account suicides are still ongoing too, which I find surprising considering that ResetEnema is already up and running, any person who would switch forums would simply up and leave their account with no need for such theatrics.

TL;DR: There's clearly more tension bubbling under the surface here, with some shady as fuck actions on ResetEnema's part.

I'm still not convinced they were ever DDoS'd, there's barely a technical distinction between a DDoS and basically everyone interested in gaming or political drama all trying to get onto your site at once. NeoGAF would go down during E3, and that was expected high load. Based on the age of NeoGAF and it's unkept state I'm pretty confident in stating they're not on a scalable cloud service, but rather a dedicated server.

Has the LLC public registration record for ResetEra, LLC ever been pulled by one of you autists? Just curious because I'm not finding it.

I was looking into starting a thread on somebody a while ago that I just dropped out of boredom, but one of the things I did was set up a Google Sheets spreadsheet linking to the the Secretary of State business registration pages for 48 of the 50 states. (New Hampshire requires registration to view -- which I ain't doing -- and Indiana is just exceptional, at least on Chrome.)

I've tried about 20 states so far, with no luck. If anybody wants to match my :autism: you can view the Sheet here:

Should be viewable by anyone, but not editable. Click on the hotlink for Alabama or whatever and go to town. The search capability on each state's site also varies wildly. Some only seem to allow it from the start of the business name, etc. Some need old school * or % for wildcarding stuff. A few are actually pretty good.

Lots of Reset, LLCs, Reset Your Heart, LLCs, etc. in a bunch of different states. But no ResetEra, LLC that I can find. Maybe they're in NH or IN or maybe my search skills are as bad as I think they are. Or maybe I'm just not finding it because it isn't there.

FWIW, this /v/NeoFag thread says their WhoIs is proxied in Arizona. First state I tried. Needless to say, no dice.

I figure since all this is all very public and on governmental websites I'm hardly being the HaX0r king here.

edit: Also, running a business as an LLC is not cheap. California has a minimum annual Franchise Tax Board fee of $800, the Massachusettts Dept of Revenue will charge you $500, etc. And it is something you're going to pay every year of the LLC's existence. And that's above and beyond any organization costs you spent using a lawyer who knows what they're doing to set it up. Which, granted, is a one time cost, but that can also run to well over a grand, even for a single member LLC.

We're already starting to see how Gen-Z is shaping up, and while it's a bit too early to say they're the best of both worlds, they're pretty goddamned liberal on social policy and extremely conservative on financial policy - and they fucking hate Social Justice. It's gonna be real interesting to see how shit shapes up in the months and subsequent years to come.

This Isamu Fukui guy has been mentioned before I believe.

He appears to be something of a prodigy, and wrote a published novel at the age of 15, receiving a lot of publicity for it. He's currently a student at NYU. All this is right in any Google search and unlikely to go away so I won't bother including a big data dump.
