The scene in question was likely removed because it was tacky as shit and basically had you get raped (off screen) if you fucked it up, and the dialogue was pretty cringey, and while Japan isn't opposed to drag jokes, this particularly scene likely was cut because it makes Kazuma Kiryu look like a bitch, and the Yakuza devs have worked pretty hard to keep his character from sinking below a particular baseline dignity level, and this sidequest went past the threshold.

So it was more done out of respect for the protagonist character portrayal, not because a bunch of lunatics on a forum for Two Minutes Hating anyone to the right of Stalin had any say in the matter.

Sega hasn't had a trend of censoring Yakuza games for moral busybodies. The most egregious cuts usually occur due to the following;

1. Certain IRL people they no longer have the right to use a likeness of ingame or can no longer use for other legal reasons.
2. Content too specifically Japanese to properly localize that was removed for ease of translation.
3. Content not localized due to time restraints.

The only game the latter two apply for is Yakuza 3. They cut a Japanese trivia minigame for being too Japan specific for non Japanese players to get into, and they also cut out a hostess/strip club sidequest for reasons of time.

The others are remake specific, as they use IRL people as many models for ingame characters, and changes in rights to use likenesses force them to change up models depending on if they are still legally renegotiated for use in the remake of the original Yakuza release in question.

Peak gaf was when it was a constant dick-measuring contest over who actually worked at Nintendo/Sony and could prove it. A lot of announcements got leaked early due to a couple really dumb Nintendo posters, and the ultimate gaf event was when someone on the Metroid Zero Mission QA team was goaded into dumping the rom 3 months before street date (for ‘admin verification’) just to make people stop doubting them.

The rom was predictably forwarded to a scene release group and resulted in a glorious meltdown from the QA guy.

How much worse could it be then the time he picked up a girl and went to a hotel and it cuts to him after doing his panting injured animation with her taunting him and revealing she was a dude with a dong and causing him to fight a yakuza that was actually a woman and the prostitute that was actually a man?

It wouldn't be the first time he got dragged into a scam, exposed it, then gave the scammer a beating, and it's one of the few times he can fight a woman and not feel like an asshole about it, even admitting afterwards the girl of the two is just as much worthy of getting their ass kicked as the guy.

The content cuts went beyond just minigames and the hostess club, though. They also removed a slew of substories, including stuff like the ongoing Akimoto story and, hilariously, a much more nuanced story involving a transgender woman. I'm not sure if that one made the cut to the PS4 release, though I assume that ResetERA would still get upset over it, if only because the woman involved actually passes.
