The Ion Fury Forum on steam is really ban happy right now. You just need to mention ResetEra and you get the hammer.

It was a stupid idea to cave. It wins them next to no credit with ResetERA because they just moved the goalposts to "well they didn't really MEAN the apology" and "well they didn't fire any of the -phobic devs!" while also now pissing off the autists on /v/. But I guess as long as NeoGAF isn't happy then there's no reason to be unhappy either.

My sympathy is with the devs, even if their publisher 3D Realms acted like a bunch of fucking morons. It's clear that the Devs' opinions haven't changed with this gesture, and, as long as there's no firings over a concept as non-controversial as "minors who can't consent to sex should also not consent to life-changing sexual reassignment" then I don't care much about a change to an Oil of Olay reference.

I mean I'm still gonna wait a couple of weeks because there's still plenty of time for the publisher to double down on their retardation. Admittedly, a donation and a brief mea culpa is probably a decent way to avoid the ire for what passes for Gaming Press. But I'm pretty sure Warhorse and Kingdom Come sort of conclusively proved that the Gaming Press and ResetERA don't count for shit as long as the game is fun.

I get why devs/pubs would capitulate a few years ago, but today? It's been proven time and time again that they have absolutely no power, they will never accept apologies and they don't buy your products to begin with. I get that it's 3D Realms that are totally shitting the bed here and the devs are basically muzzled against their will, but it's such a horrendously awful decision it boggles the mind. They were super liked just a day ago, and now everyone thinks they're spineless hacks.

In re:Ion Fury "controversy", not happy to see Voidpoint made a big mistake and "apologized" in a rather grovelling fashion, and the sort of people who get really upset easily are now screaming that it is still not enough. It must have been someone close to 3D Realms that led them to cave. Otherwise there wasn't really any reason to make a donation that huge from a few Twitter tards? The developers certainly aren't other than tossing out a texture and some stuff you weren't supposed to see anyway. Plus they're moderating their discord a little tighter simply because people are reading it. It is kinda odd. Steam forums are often moderated by non-developer fan morons so I'm not going to ascribe anything to that necessarily. I'm more focused on that donation as an apology. (plus the sensitivity training lol)

The Respawn thing by comparison was in a pretty public manner (as Reddit is) and the apology is directed specifically to people and ideally would settle everything about the kerfuffle to get back to lootboxes or whatever led to it.

Once ResetERA is gone it will be dancing crabs all over the gaming and weeb communities as they are the source of many doxing and censorship campaigns. When the day finally comes that ResetEra and its community finally falls apart and implodes then that will then be the final blow to the lefty culture in the gaming community and a huge blow to lefty gaming journalism in all.

A lot of gamers (and this include many of the normie gamers) that have at least heard about ResetEra know who they are and why they have such a really bad reputation as being one of the worst online communities out there.

The truth of the matter is that ResetEra needs to rely on bullshit outrage culture in order to survive and in order to make a lot of noise they need much of the help from bullshit video game journalists to push their ideals on everyone else.

Now almost everyone knows by this point how much of a joke that established video game journalism really is in this day and age because what you really see in the many of those established video game journalists are a bigger joke than the people that write a bunch of obvious bullshit articles for many of those supermarket tabloids that you can typically find in any retail store or supermarket out there.

Whether ResetEra realizes this or not, they cannot sustain themselves the way they are now. No one outside of ResetEra really likes ResetEra all that much and they're already loathed by the rest of the gaming community in general. Both ResetEra and established video game journalists really don't have that much power outside of their own circles and all they can do is keep kissing their own asses for them to continue to survive.

When the day finally does come that ResetEra and its community implodes for good then it will be a real positive on the video game industry in all. Those video game develoeprs will have a huge weight lifted off their shoulders when they don't have to deal with manufactured outrage culture from the likes of ResetEra anymore and many of those established video game journalists will lose even more of their power and influence since they really do need places like ResetEra for them to capitalize on.

When ResetEra finally dies off then nothing of value will be lost by that point.

To hear the autistic chimps of /v/ tell it, the reason they caved was the european branch of 3DRealms, deep in the land where entire marketing campaigns get cancelled because literally a single person claimed it was offensive. Dunno if I believed it but given personal experience and the fact that the very same groups cancelled 2 advertisements over a similarly infintessimally small number of complaints, it'd make sense.

The overall review status was "Overwhelmingly Positive" earlier today and has degenerated to merely "Very Positive" after these dumb motherfuckers decided it was a good idea to suck some troon cock.

Also, there were 60 bad reviews earlier today, but after they deep throated that greasy ass troon cock, about 100 more negative reviews have rolled in.

Nothing says playing yourself like Ion Fury slipping out of the Steam sales charts. The reviews are one thing but just a day or so ago Ion Fury was in the top selling chart.

Posting negative reviews only works if you purchased the game first, but just like that Ion Fury's hype balloon has deflated. SJWs are out for more blood, the "diehard gamer" types are avoiding it or are posting bad reviews criticizing the censorship, and only a handful of troons are happy.

On top of that the $10,000 donation plus refunds are going to be a financial dent. But at least there won't be the word "gay" in it anymore.
