Did the "walking simulator" primarily spawn from Gone Home? That's the only one I can think of that was abject trash but I haven't played many, I remember the Edith Finch game was kind of cool if only for the interesting environmental graphics stuff they were doing. Do the Telltale games count?

Gone Home wasn't the first, but it did make the genre popular. In a way, Gone Home was Resident Evil, and Dear Escher was Alone in the Dark.

As for abject trash. There were so many walking simulators, often with stock assets, that didn't go anywhere. The most famous failure was Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, which was shit even according to walking simulator fans and essentially killed the genre.

There's two, there were actually four brothers though the media only ever focused on two.

Turning Point USA isn't "funded by the Kochs" anyway. They gave a small amount of money to it once, but later criticized it. I guess that means the other 99.9% of their money is Koch money somehow.

I have no idea why people are always so hung up on the Koch (and Soros) conspiracy theories other than it makes them feel like they just need the bad guy to go away and it will be utopia. These things are funded by networks of tons of donors. There's a lot of stupid rich people in the world!

Funny thing is if anybody actually knew about these they'd know both the Kochs and Soros backed off their political funding in recent years because both of them came to realize how much of it was pure waste and grift. The Kochs especially withdrew after Trump came to power because they disagreed with him politically too. Soros pointedly refused to donate to Black Lives Matter because they had no plan or operation, a view that many BLM supporters (such as on ResetEra) were criticizing as racist when voiced by others!

The Koch brothers are neoliberals who are in it for themselves. They're not really going to support socially conservative causes like the pro-life movement if there isn't something in it for them, which from their point of view there isn't.
