Yeah, the Japanese still live in that baby boomer-esque mindset of "High School is the best days of your life" because the moment they graduate theyre forced into either college or a job that is nonstop stress and overtime and busywork. Most people on resetera (and likely the US) at least enjoy being an adult. College is generally fun and you can do whatever you want as an adult in 2025 with the internet and video games and whatever normal people do. The japanese just work 90 hour work weeks and drink themselves into alcoholism at 17. So of course their video games and anime romanticize high school.

Also, high school in america is pretty traumatic in 2025 compared to what japan has, so no one likes it and no one wants an unironic american high school rpg
