I really wish someone who's on Discord would start getting these people user id's so we can find out. Like just go into developer/ debug mode. It's what I do. You can change your name as much as you like on Discord, but you can't change your id.

The main reason behind that was A Hat In Time was basically done by the point Neogaf woke up and realised JonTron was still in some form of video game.

At least that's the excuse given by the devs themselves, which was a tiny team of 8 people across the entire planet.

CD Projekt Red still has the best response to NeoGaf crusading though, which was "The games are based on 12th/13th century Silesia. There were no black people, fuck off."

I feel you kinda missed the point here.. The fact that a small studio is not kowtowing to their demands to swap out JonTron and rerecord a mere 2-3 lines of dialogue is a big piece of evidence that NeoGAF's influence is long gone.

Keep in mind that this studio had everything to lose here, being in the process of launching their 1st game on a shoestring budget, which is a Kickstarter game btw. If NeoGAF cannot pressure this studio into anything, then what makes anyone think they have any level of influence over gaming companies?

Well in Gears for Breakfast's case they'd already seen the blowback was far far worse than if they kowtowed to the demands.

Playtonic and Team 17 cucking out then fucking up the subsequent PR did way more damage in the short term and likely turned off a slew of hardcore gamers (again, the game shifted about 100k units on steam and only 45k a piece on Xbox and PS4) who would've been the key week 1, week 2 crowd. A lot of the nostalgia and hardcore crowd were banging on about this game and a lot more backed it.

Gears for Breakfast reasoning was exactly that; That to take him out would've caused more harm than good to the game and it's own PR. The entire incident became a wet fart in a hurricane because the devs basically shrugged at NeoGaf having seen what happened to YL.

To be honest a lot of crap NeoGaf tries to do actually falls flat if you just outright ignore them or tell them to fuck off. The Last Night is still going ahead, nothing happened to CD Projekt Red and there's probably a load more whining spergry from them we simply missed or ignored because devs went "lol, no." at them.

I think neogaf will resuscitate eventually... in form only.

It'll be the same crowd of ultra-marxist bullies jerking each other off, they'll still rage and send hate and death threats at devs/people they disagree with while claiming harassment is bad when "gamergate" does it, they'll still proudly promote a divisive atmosphere of racist and sexist prejudice and blindly call it progressive, they'll still call for violence and suppression against people who express their opinions peacefully while pretending they oppose fascism.

But their teeth will be gone. JonTron still goes ahead with his cameo. Tim Soren isn't listening to them. Everyone they hate isn't being hated by actual sane and valuable communities. Everyone knows now to disregard the impotent threats of a forum who calls for a fatwa on your head because you dare to critically examine themes like ubi in your sci-fi game. Neogaf used to command respect because they earned it. They lost that mandate of heaven years ago, and committing mass suicide because "listen and believe" is worth more to them than actual facts is making it obvious.

Remember when your mom used to tell you to just ignore the bullies, because if they couldn't get the reaction they wanted then they had no ability to hurt anything? Neogaf are those bullies. And the gaming industry is finally taking mom's advice and not giving them a reaction. Comics will follow. So will cartoons.

In the meantime, I love that this mighty bastion of women's rights losing its power likely means it will be easier for rape/abuse victims to get justice, not harder. One less SJW tinpot tyrant running the asylum means one less hateful hypocrite doing their best to bury every victim who happens to be inconvenient to the power narrative.

Right, if NeoGAF comes back up and it's already fucking done with having any street cred. It'll become more of a lolcow in itself than it was now.

If anything, it'll have a Chris-chan style reputation to it: a horrible mistake in life, but still fascinating to laugh at and follow.
