They're always going to have moles, that is the nature of more people interested in trolling you than legitimately joining your forum. They needed to have their forum up 2 days ago, while NeoGAF was down. This is such an embarrassing shit-show of a forum launch, by any standards. Hilarious that Polygon and buddy gamejournos are pushing this place.

Holy shit. That is some ridiculous stuff. You know what, forget just being out there with the rest of the internet and seeing if that gives those folks a wake up call on how tight their hugbox was. If the fact that you have to treat getting on a Fucking Forum like you're camping out to get the newest electronic toy, staying up and huddled in a tent for just the chance that you'll be allowed in, AND you have to have a letter of recommendation and the know the secret password just to get at the door... How is that not ringing any warning bells? Does that not strike them as fucking odd? Mayhaps even irrational? I know they don't cross paths with Logic very often, but fuck me.

Does anyone even have to actually troll them at this point? I think just everyone sitting back and laughing was more than enough to keep them paranoid for ages. Don't even have to do anything more than put out a tweet that you're thinking about maybe having a peek, or that you're looking forward to seeing the continuation of this dumpster fire, and they'll immediately start turning on each other. Their lives must be utterly exhausting when every shadow is a looming ghost of a threat.

It doesn't matter because there's gonna be next to nothing to actually support. SJW horseshit aside, NeoGAF's only real claim to fame was that industry types leaked shit onto it, once upon a time. That was in decline even before EvilLore's happy shower adventure. Requiring people to register with identifiable information is a issue because of NDAs and shit.

But a simpler answer is that they'll probably trumpet ResetEra... for a little while. Until nobody gives a shit about this story anymore.

EDIT: And, of course, giving them personal information is bad in a forum that severely punishes wrong-think.

Gaffer will until their dying breath blame Gamergate for everything. They will not admit that Gamergate was not behind the downfall of Neogaf. Neogaf was behind it's own downfall.

The irony is that gamergate could have prevented this. They were the ones that kept bringing up Malka's treatment of women, which many gaffers tried to ignore or bury. If they had taken it seriously instead of sticking their head in the sand, this whole dirty business with Malka could have been prevented or at least handled differently. The site's reaction to gamergate also highlighted how much of a raging hugbox/echo chamber the site devolved into. If the mods took a step back and realized the toxic "The Crucible/Scarlet Letter"-esque environment they were fostering, perhaps NeoGAF wouldn't have become the raging dumpster fire everyone in the gaming industry is gleefully dancing around as it burns into ashes.
