You know, I can see why ResetEra considers Aldous Huxley to be "alt-right" because Aldous Huxley called out people and groups like the ResetEra community long before the Internet was invented.

This says it all about them.

The strategic reason to make every argument moralistic is you can cast any dissent as defending immorality. There’s no practical or principled objection to giving everyone a free unicorn. Only malicious ones.

Which is why their idea of a "utopia" would be one of their worst things to ever happen in the history of humanity if ResetEra's ideas were to ever be put into practice in real life.

To paraphrase Dr. Alan Grant from Jurassic Park III, some of the most evil and horrible things imaginable were done with good intentions.

We all have our own ideas (myself included) of what an ideal society should be; but most of us don't sit down and think about what would it take to achieve those goals.

If one tried to establish a utopia, what would it take to achieve it? Would it be possible for one to use peace to establish this new way of life or would they have to use oppression and force to make their "utopia" a reality? Would everyone agree to this new way of life or will people have to be purged from the "utopia" that refuse to accept this new way of life? Would everyone be treated fairly or would there be an oppressive hierarchy where everyone loses except for the elites in power? Would there be even free expression and free expression be encouraged in this "utopia" or would free expression be banned to make sure that everyone is "happy" in order for people to not get uncomfortable over things that may be too "problematic" for some?

If ResetEra were to ever establish their own "utopia" in real life then it would quickly turn sour very fast when they realize that their shitty ideas will turn their ideal way of life into the classic dystopia setting that is commonly seen in both fiction and real life as well.

It's easy to see shades of 1984 everywhere since technology makes it so much easier to track everyone, but I believe that it's had a far great democratizing effect than it has a suppressive one, at least in the West. Even as much as YouTube or other video providers try to clamp down on people they don't like for political reasons, there's just too many for it to be humanly possible to stop it all and the algorithms just aren't good enough. The mainstream media is constantly being exposed and people are leaving in droves. I also think that 1984 is the easiest to see as coming true because it's the most straightforward.

Brave New World has a lot going on, but my take was that it explores how a lack lack of adversity leads humanity to mindless escapism through pleasure seeking behavior. This in turn erodes individuality which is expressed in the stratified caste system where humans are just clones of each other and lack any distinct characteristics. Any of the characters who do express any shred of individualism are alienated and miserable. It's a very clean and shiny society where everyone can take drugs and be happy, but it's really just unadulterated hell from our perspective. It has some of the same tones as Fahrenheit 451, but I think that the way Brave New World presents itself isn't as prescient in terms of how humanity arrives at that shared point.

With 1984, it's a controlling government that attempts to control people, and China certainly looks the part, but it's the same kind of communistic entity that Orwell was writing about. The west has not succumbed to such a fate and the characters in the story were trying to resist that government control. In Huxley's novel, humanity is too far gone to redeem and is its own prisoner. The government doesn't need to control them, since they control themselves. Bradbury's world is a mixture, but it's still ultimately the people who are prisoners to their own selves, as evidence by the ending where humanity comes to its senses.
That's interesting. I know "big brother" was a big aspect of 1984, but that part never really stood out to me. I guess you're right though, the constant surveillance was a big part of it. My biggest take away was the idea that if you get enough people to agree something is true, it might as well be true.
The theme of doublethink was what really stood out to me as prophetic. Saying and believing a falsehood while also believing the true version of that thing. That is so perfectly representitive of the trans stuff. You can see the process when you talk to an "ally" of trans causes, the hesitation before "he" or "she", or "trans woman" or "trans man". You can practically see the find and replace algorithm running, first they think of the person's actual gender, then tell themselves they're the other gender.

I guess I just found a small part of 1984 to really stand out, and it wasn't the modification of the language, or the constant monitoring, but the part where they got people basically running the process in their own minds constantly. That's the part that feels real to me, it sometimes feels like people embrace the counter-intuitive instead of the intuitive now, like people believe things just have to be complicated and not make sense.

I guess I’m imagining a Stalinist scenario wherein the slightest offense is an excuse to imprison you in a work camp, which are also vital to maintain their economy.

There’s no need for a police state to enforce the delusion because it’s done out of habit and enforced by people trying to stave off cognitive dissonance by mobbing anyone who remembers the war with Eastasia.

All you have to do to see how a society run on REEEEEE principles would operate is look how they act right now. Look what the deeply mentally ill degenerates who mod it do with the minuscule, insignificant power they do have. Imagine them with actual power.

Even the mods weren't having this stupidity despite the OP risking a Discord ban for his covert ops to expose the unpaid moderator's uncouth comments:

Imagine unironically accusing Poland, a country that has been at the mercy of fascists, of being a fascist country.

A ResetEra poster said that Poland needed to have forced race mixing because the country is too white ("They need to have some black blood injected into their lily-white veins") the last time CD Projekt Red came up, so I'm not surprised.

So a country needs to be forcibly racially mixed just to please a bunch of lily white assholes?

And they call OTHERS bigots.........

So apparently they think having black people imported is a punishment.

That sounds pretty fucking racist.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say that bit of authoritarian thought is a bit misogynist. For all their talk of supporting women, that sounds suspiciously like they want to override Polish women's desires, all for the sake of "diversity" and "equality".

But hey, they think Poland is fascist, so I guess fuck those worthless white bitches, right?

As a mentally ill degenerate I am deeply offended by being compared to REEEEE mods

Yeah, it sounds a whole hell of a lot like corrective rape. I think it comes from their repressed incel tendencies and weird blacked fetishes.
