Here's the thing, Rockstar could probably write awesome female characters, but when you see the demands and crying like you do on Resetera you almost hope they don't do it.

When things don't happen organically intersectionality arrives, then it becomes... Why aren't they gay? Why aren't they trans? Why aren't they furries? Why aren't they Muslim? Why aren't they disabled? Why aren't they fat? Why aren't they non-binary? Why aren't they Mexican? Why aren't they niggers from outer space?

Hello, this is my first post as well.

About the "why do sane people still stick on that shithole of a site?" question, i would just say that the it's not as simple as it looks.
The thing is, there's kind of a niche of about late 20s/30 years old people that don't want to deal with imageboards and Reddit's layout, and only want to talk about videogames on an old-fashoned forum. And that's what Resetera still somehow manages to be: a decently sized videogame board with a decently large userbase, fast paced activity, a bunch of comunities that appear to be actually populated, and updated gaming news (yes, they're censored, but i guess that most people either don't know that or just don't care about a bunch of tiny, niche weeb or indie games anyway). So, if you avoid all the exceptional outrage ban-bait threads (and there's even a specific tampermonkey script that allows people to istantly hide every kind of dumb shit), there's still some kind of unironical "enjoyment" to be had from it.
It's kind of the same shit that happened with NeoGaf: the mentally ill lunatics have infiltrated and hijacked a traditionally appealing product and they're now forcing normal people to eat their shit up if they still want to be part of it.
Or just like what's happening with modern american focused entertainment, isn't it? "You want to see your favourite capeshit movie, isn't it? Here it is, but we've also shoved a bunch of cringey feminist and woke scene in it and shut the fuck up". "You want Star Wars, right? Here it is, but it's filled with diversity quotas, purple haired tumblerinas and monodimensional stronk womyn as protagonists and shut the fuck up". "You want your AAA western game, right? Here it is, but it stars a TOTALLY BADASS strong black woman with a giant afro, or some puropsely ugly white dyke as protagonist anyway so shut the fuck up". Etc, etc.

I don't know how good this place is for discussing videogames, it looks to be a fun place anyway, so i might give it a try i guess.

With NeoGaf I understand, but ResetEra was, from day 1, the crazies that said NeoGaf wasn't progressive enough and other progressive forums told to fuck off. You had to know going in?

I would like a forum like that and might take @Charlie Delicious up on his offer, but these days I just browse the game sub board here and whatever my friends are talking about.

Preach, brother. I've been explaining this to people myself for a while now. Matchmaking systems are the bane of multiplayer decorum. If you want to end "toxicity", return to the era in which there was no single, monolithic "community" but rather a plethora of subcommunities for all possible tastes, places where people actually got to know one another and respected one another as friends and equals.

There are some things I don't like about the gaming community becoming more fractured and niche driven, but it does raise a contradiction. Why does every game have to be for everyone (Sekiro needs an easy mode, every game needs a female protagonist) only to turn around and scream "it's not for you!" when people don't like The Last Jedi or Femghostbusters.

These toxic cunts don't want that, though. Having their own server where everything is done their way does nothing for them. They don't enjoy things. That's for "Nazis."

Their only joy is knocking over and wrecking shit other people are enjoying to force them to be as miserable and joyless as they are.

There's one very big problem with that system. People will tell them to fuck off and that's not allowed.

There was something involving the Xbox One party system where they straight up said that feminists should be allowed to be ban people from their groups, but other groups shouldn't be allowed to ban feminists. Why feminists would want to be in a group that doesn't like them is a mystery.

Most of these journalist, if not all, did not mention anything about the gameplay. Just the genre and setting, which everyone already knows. It's one thing to state your own personal bias in your reviews, but it's another if you leave out one of the main features of the game.

I only guys I know of on that list are Hbomberguy and Innuendo Studios. Both of those are almost lolcows if they weren't so boring. I hear contrapoints name thrown around a lot recently but I'm not familar with their work.

What's interesting to me is who's not on their list. No Jim Sterling, Moviebob, Extra Credits, Feminist Frequency, Giant Bomb, Waypoint, Rooster Teeth, or Superbunnyhop.

Some of those fucked themselves over to virtue signal, but I guess your only as good as your last viral twitter post. Either that or they've failed the ResetEra purity test at some point.

There was a comic series, and I can't remember the name, which depicted a young black woman in the LA ghetto. And she was something of a mutation -- she had a natural knack for tactics and strategy. Which she turned on the powers-that-be, by organizing the gangs into an outright army and essentially carving out several square blocks of LA into her own personal fief. It ended with the U.S. government giving her followers amnesty in exchange for her coming to study and work for them.

I bet Rockstar could do quite well with that one.

From what I was told by one of their former mod, Resetera activity is declining big times since the beginning of 2019. It was already declining in 2018, but 2019 looks even worse for them. Most of the staff aknowledged Resetera will never be as big as Neogaf. It seems they had a virtual "meeting" about that earlier this year and it's the reason some mods and admin left. Resetera wasn't big enough for them.

I also learnt that they kind of allow alt-accounts to boast the numbers and the activity, under one condition : it's shouldn't obvious. As long as you don't make it obvious and you behave, they'll give you a pass for creating an alt-account after being banned. Some VIP members also have alt-account, to "protect" them, whatever that means. SweetNicole has one for exemple.

The staff also has some spare accounts to hype things up when a big annoucements is coming. It seems they're easy to spot, they only appear during big announcements and are mostly one liners "yeeessss!" "reset the clooockkk"...

I always wondered why you would always see the same 50 persons participating despite them boasting about 45000 members. Now I can figure why.

Did you play it? The game isn't literally about bullying kids 24/7, it's a character-driven story of a high-test teen boy coping with private school policy, the pubescent irrational drives of the school cliques, and coming-of-age while having a sociopathic beta liar befriend then sabotage you so you start a long campaign of revenge. And there's some open-world bike racing and collectibles to gather, and you can pick fights with strangers.

A typical story mission is being tricked into visiting an abandoned apartment building/shithole under construction & renovation that the auto shop Greasers hang out in because the aforementioned beta sent you there to prank them, but you're being setup by him and they know you're there so you escape climbing and jumping scenery to get back on school grounds.
