It could have been very cherrypicked stuff I saw but one of the leads behind the game seemed to be espousing a lot of ideologies that ree would align with. I imagine they will find someone involved saying something slightly indicating free thought though so give it a little bit.

Japan smaller games often gets a pass with them. Resetera prominant members are heavily into those games and they're close to Cerium, who's also japanese.

Wayforward is doing it though and they are a Cali based company. I know there was a Rivercity game that did have the original creator involved to a degree but I don't think it was this one.

The problem with that is that many of the best "black" characters don't have "black" as a personality trait. The fact people ignore characters like Louis, Rochelle, and Coach from Left 4 Dead isn't a bad thing. It means people don't see them as "the token black character" because they have more going on than "I'm black". And like @BesadaDontStarve said, the standards of what makes a "PoC" character are insane. Shen, Turok (technically a comic character, but most know him from the games), and virtually every JRPG character are ignored for not being "PoC" enough.

It's like how "gay" has changed from "man who likes cock" to "flamboyant progressive democrat voter: liking cock optional".
