I love that even when they go on a YOU MAD BRO style of defense they can't help but propping themselves up for moral superiority.

Resetera doesn't live rent free in anyone's head. Resetera is like a mild headache, it's annoying at best but not something you lose any sleep over. The entertainment value is high enough that multiple communities have formed around the internet to mock them. And yet that tells them nothing because like this very website is a unequivocal testament to, lolcows have 0 self-awareness. On top of that they try to fish the hypocrisy angle like 'we're not the snow flakes, you are!!!' which fools nobody but those who were already on the fool train. These people shouldn't be allowed to breed but thankfully they haven't found a way to get pregnant out of ass sex yet so it's all good.

For any claims of "we live rent free in their heads" that a Reset Era member makes, that rent free living is more of "they live in the head as an annoying neighbor you'd wish had moved out." The difference between a community that can be for the wellbeing of another and Reset Era is that the former would have better things to get a beef with than some video game dev following some political tards on Twitter. If they wonder why we even talk about them, it's about whatever it is they're sperging over, whether it was one guy trying to go on some sarcastic diatribe about politics in vidya to "own the gamers" or some people being buggered enough by some dev on the team leaning right of them that they think the whole game is tainted.

Much as LGR is buying into it at first glance, I doubt it would stop him from enjoying the game since he sounds like he's more capable of separating the art from its many artist compared to some ResetERA spergs. As for Vinny, I can imagine him being deader inside in having to deal with more spergings when all he wants to do is relax before having to do another vidya stream.

It uses the same engine. In fact, that engine hasn't been used to make a NEW game in roughly 20 years, and it looks fantastic for anybody that played those old school shooters. It's actually relatively uncommon for new games to be made on old engines, even after said engines become open source. Usually "retro influenced" FPSes will be made on modern engines (Strafe, Doom 2016) or modern engines trying to imitate older engines (Dusk, DOOM for the Nintendo Switch). To complicate matters, many studios won't even sell you licenses to old engines or will make it a pain in the ass to get a license (the Unreal Engine comes to mind). With the rise in using off the shelf engines and the "write once, click to export anywhere" philosophy to game development using old engines hasn't been too common.

Ion Fury is one of the first FPSes to be made and commercially sold using an old engine, and Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is coming soon with the Quake 1 engine. That's one of the reasons Ion Fury is such a big deal, it's far more authentic than a lot of retro influenced games are. It's not trying to clone the Build engine feel when it's running on the Build engine itself. It's also in a genre of games that hasn't been milked to death yet by talentless indie developers trying to clone the classics. Plus it had marketing from all the right YouTubers, showing that YouTubers carry more weight than game reviewers at this point. Civvie 11, GGManLives, and Lazy Game Reviews were praising this game when it was still known as Ion Maiden.

This whole meltdown (along with Kingdom Come Deliverance selling well despite the mob hating it) is proof that aside from some big names in the industry using ResetEra, that forum is far more bark than bite. Literally only one small name gaming blog has whined about this. Kotaku and Polygon aren't covering the game much at all, but the game is #8 on the Steam topseller list right now. The steam review bombing is fucking failing along with any attempts at review bombing metacritic. Gamers and even some people within the industry loathe ResetEra and don't take their opinions seriously.
