Not surprised. SgtMarkIV is an autistic scumbag. I don't think there's enough material on him to make a thread though.
"I was in a game developers mentions once!"
The one reason I doubt that is a library won't let some unwashed troon sit at the computer surfing Twitter all day. Maybe they are stealing a neighbors internet?View attachment 901295
Came across this interesting post on the IF steam discussions.
It's a good point. They don't actually play video games, but use it as a way to make other people miserable. And if they are that broke they can't afford a fairly cheap game that says a lot.
I can't answer the second question, but I can answer the first. Why the fuck are publishers even needed? Just upload to Steam and start selling. What the fuck did these 3D Realms exceptional individuals contribute other than a giant scandal?
The big reason why indies still flock to publishers is because they can get money and the backing of a publisher. After quite a bit of hype in the early 2010s, Kickstarter crashed and burned. There have been so many failed kickstarters or kickstarters where backers got fucked over in some way that it's a lot harder to get funded if you're not an ex industry professional with a big game attached to your name. Why the fuck are publishers even needed? Publishers aren't "needed" in the same way that you can technically print your own novel, but good luck trying to sell it. As much as we don't like it, publishers are good at marketing and handling the minutia of getting your game "out there".

Another journalist is also very happy to see someone of this quality get the boot. Seems like a popular guy.

“Super sad to learn that Imran Khan got laid off. Not only did he lie about me after I committed the crime of asking him to source a claim he made, he also gloated over Tim Soret's game running into development problems. Enjoy the breadline you bellend. https://t.co/nCQWCsHCrQ”twitter.com

Publishers ensure that you can get your game funded and more easily marketed. Of course when publishers backstab you they become as much of a joke as YouTube MCNs were once YouTube's policies changed. Even then so many indie games come out these days that if you're not a known name in some community or know exactly what gamers are interested in, you can expect it to not do so well.
Ion Fury's marketing consisted of having organic popularity, it had big names in the retro FPS scene endorsing it and gamers happy they were seemingly telling Era to pound sand. Then this happened and now Ion Fury is going to be a forgotten about game that might end up in some YouTuber's dumb gaming moments video 5 years from now.
Except that doesn't work. Look at what happened to Harebrained Schemes Battletech or Nightdive's System Shock remake. For non-kickstarter examples, Wokenstien and Dishonored collapsed despite the same people working on the sequels. Unless there was a Bioware level mass exodus I don't know about. There's an old joke that all you need to do to know if a KS can deliver is who's in on it. That's a comment that's proven prescient over the years.

Which is why there is no real reason to even pander to these people in the first place. Why pander to these people if they are broke as all shit? Just for once let me play my first person shooters and let me play my anime games in peace.View attachment 901295

It's a bit off-topic, but the day I learned about John Money was the day I started writing off all "muh gender" activists and weirdos as crazy and dangerous.
This whole thing is like an excerpt from a /pol/ copypasta or something, yet it really happened and caused an innocent person to have a horrific life of a test subject that led him to suicide. Here are my "favorite" bits about this thing (I'm surprised Wikipedia hasn't edited this article to play down the event despite it having pretty interesting pieces of info):
The latter paragraph is really familiar, eh? I suppose that's not surprising, as the people that subscribe to Money's view of the sexes also find his arguments to be amazingly stellar and worth repeating.
Back on topic though, I agree with Night Owl, this didn't have to happen. Nothing was controversial about those statements, yet apparently everything was. The longer this enabling madness continues, the more kids will suffer at the hands of these john-moneys because nobody will ever tell them they're wrong.
But hey, they're just removing "OGAY" soap dispensers, right?
While this is some crazy accelerationist trolling if true (and not a channer LARPing considering how hard it is to get a ResetERA account), it also highlights everything wrong with the gaming industry at this point.Pretty efficient trolling, but it seems he made the classic mistake of using the same username for all his accounts (or he just doesn't care).
Okay, okay, hold up. Tell me more, please. There's already enough paranoia on Twitter about fake black person/antifa accounts
In late 2016 there was a fear that Nazis were making fake Twitter accounts pretending to be black people, and Andrew Anglin even posted a guide on how to do this on his website. Since then there have been several scares including one in 2017 with said trolls and another in 2019 when trolls pretended to be black Trump supporters. It's such a fear among Twitter activists that some worry that fake ones will drown them out.Okay, okay, hold up. Tell me more, please.
This tactic later expanded to other groups, including fake Antifa accounts being made by both Proud Boys members and Nazi Telegram group members. It works because even when these accounts are unmasked as fake, the disinformation fear is real and continues to linger. The other day 4chan flooded Twitter with fake Jew accounts, so this still continues.
Via @sophnar0747, the person who created the IF thread was apparently a troll (also the same person behind that CTR watermelon thread):

“1- Was the attack on Ion Fury a false flag? Here's an internet message board post that is taking credit for it. Anyone could just claim that though, right? Well, let's look at the twitter account that helped push the Era thread. Not much here, but hey, look at those 'likes'”twitter.com

Plus it discredits them even further that they didn't even do due diligence in their reporting; they can't win in this scenario especially when it was this fucking easy to find out it was a bad actor.Operating in the open. You almost want to get caught as the outrage mob and journalists always act first think later.
