This is why background checks should be mandatory for any healthcare job that involves directly interacting with patients. At least we could head off some of the lunatics before they do any real damage. Incidentally, this is also why you should never tolerate more than two failed attempts by anyone to draw blood, always ask for someone else more competent to do it if they can't, and go somewhere else if they cop any attitude about it.
