This surprises me, you'd think that from an ergonomic point of view you would optimise the most often used and obvious moderation procedures first (e.g. throwing a tantrum and banning people). I personally envisioned their interface being like a ban button next to the report and quote ones leading to a panel where you can check offences like "severe posting", "Low post count/fucking junies" or even "Stepped on Excel's dick" from a grid of checkboxes, and maybe a few extra/manual options "Mail posting history to employer", "Mark post from history with offence to justify perma" in case the poster really pisses you off.

Makes me wonder what other things are tied together with gum and shoestrings about their forum, part of me suspects that they don't/can't maintain a searchable rapsheet on people so they have to rely on Crunk's banbot.

How many lolcows are banned or censored for signing up to the farms to defend themselves? Very few I'd guess. It's part of why they're so big on deplatforming. Not just because they don't want to even see the horrible words that murder and kill (and honestly, I have a little sympathy with that position, if only because if I could mute the entirety of identity politics from the internet I would do so in a heartbeat) but because they regard the viewpoints as dangerously alluring.

Not to them, of course - they're pure as the driven snow, perfect examples of wokeness. But all the unwashed masses? They could be convinced by the arguments being offered by those of opposing views, rather than simply accepting their True and Honest word.

I think it's partly because they regard everyone not in their bubble as stupid, partly because they don't want to bother with counter-arguments and just want to declare their enemies unpersonned and therefore an easy target for ruination, and at least a little bit that often they've been more aligned with these views, and see themselves as having freed themselves from the wrongthink but that the ideas are still seductive.

And, of course, there's a lot of projection about uncritical acceptance and cultlike thinking and threats of violence. I saw it described as the difference between incivility and post-civility; incivility comes about when you think, 'Well, being polite isn't getting me anywhere', while post-civility is, 'Being polite is heretical'. SJWs love being post-(x), and that includes being post-reasonable.
