I believe ResetEra's income is two-fold: (a) is running ads, (b) is selling a premium role which is ad-free. It's very old school but if you have a XenForo that can run on any webhost in the world for maybe $40/mo with traditional AdSense monetization you're easily making tens of thousands of dollars a month.

It's definitely the most money they've ever seen in their life and they want to keep that gravy train going as far as they can.

Based on many former NeoGAF admins, Tyler Malka cleared several hundred thousand dollars for many years for nothing more than a few hours a week of “work” if that. Isamu Fukui likely clears similar numbers. Making a couple hundred grand with little effort likely explains why he’s not willing to make any major changes other than reshuffling the deck chairs.

Tyler changes his stance depending on where the shekels are. He once sent revenge porn to Amir0x to jizz on and then posted a picture of it online. The man has always been a degenerate shekel chaser. As I said above Isamu comes into this with a cleaner reputation and having done some work as a young Asian to get some wealth.

He's got far further to fall than Tyler Malka, but his troon zoo will make sure he hits the ground painfully. Everyone else will be there to laugh at them all and say good riddance once Resetera burns and is away from the gaming industry.
