It's become kind of cliche to say, but I have drifted further right as I've gotten older, though I feel like I'm still solidly democrat/liberal outside of identity politic bullshit. And it's these fucking psychos and the vocal minority that have pushed me more that way than anything else. It's embarrassing to call myself a liberal when I know I'm associated with these lunatics. It does make you wonder, though: what kind of person would willingly stay in a forum where literally only one opinion may be voiced? I mean, other forums (including this one) certainly have their political leanings, and if your opinion is in the opposite direction you're likely to get piled on/down voted or whatever, but you can usually at least voice that opinion without being banned for months on end.

I suppose that's why Era is the way it is. It's full of the kind of people who see that sort of thing in a forum and think, "yeah, this seems reasonable and healthy".

It's a widely accepted (by the left) estimate of deaths caused by austerity in the UK.

The actual number is likely to be a lot lower, the method of estimation is crude and doesn't stand up to proper scrutiny. In particular you can't just extrapolate mortality rates in the manner they have done. It's so crude as to be professionally offensive.

Weirdly, when Japan imposed austerity the population mortality rate went down. Weird that doesn't get enough of a mention. Personally I'd say the deaths caused by austerity in the UK is 'some' but not 130,000.
