Crash 4 is one of the harder titles out there, most people rate the difficulty an 8 or 8.5 out of 10. Those Platinum time trials for 100 or so levels is indeed punishing because you only have fractions of a second of wiggle room if you mess shit up, there's about 40 or so levels like this where everyone winds up with the same time because you either nail it perfectly or you don't.
Leave a game unfinished? No everything must be crushed beneath sandaled feet
besides you go for the bare minimum and it's like only 13% of the game shows as completed.

It's on par with the old G&G games it definitely feels like they tuned it high. It's entirely reliant on muscle memory for each stage and you also have to swap box physics mid jump for many levels so you don't fall to your death.
It's not a game geared towards the general audience so most kids wouldn't be the main target for a game like that.
