Era is not super popular. It's niche like all old forum based sites and is slowly dying. Reddit, Twitter, Facebook and Discord are fast replacing them as the main homes of internet based discussion.

For instance the fast growing r/GamingLeaksAndRumours has 142,000 members whereas Era only has 54,000 members and is stagnant.

It's a massive chore to read the content, but since I actually participated on it for about six months in its early days (and can hence save you the torture) I can say that Era seems to be the catch all for every video game message board that has been in constant decline since the rise of Twitter and Reddit. Since the admins / mods are themselves and cater to the lost, broken, and performatively woke, it attracts all of those kinds of dorks. Seems like there's a lot of them.
