Neopets and Virtual Pet Sites

Who played Neopets back in the day? Who plays it now? Do you play any other virtual pet sites such as Subeta or Flight Rising?

Back in the day I played the fuck out of Neopets, all the cool kids were hanging out on Neo. My favorite pet is the Hissi and the Bori except that seems to change every time I think about what my favorite pet is.

Discuss Neo and it's rich lore and weird art that thy had back in the day like when the Bruce was actaully a dude in a suit named Bruce instead of a penguin.

I was on and off with Neopets for years. Eventually I'd get bored and stop playing, then feel like playing again some time later. I always forgot my usernames and passwords, though, which led to multiple accounts. Aside from exploring and playing games, there really wasn't much I did.

That said, I still think it's a nice site, even if it's mainly for kids. My favorite pets are the Gelert and the Lupe.

Dude they took away the habitarium? I'm totally butthurt too that was a huge source of income.

Neopets related: the first fan art I ever posted online was Neopets related (not my first fan art ever, I drew pokemon religiously since I was at least in preschool, several times throughout my childhood I attemtped to draw every pokemon but I got to Squirtle and forgot about it)

And then many years later I did this and submitted it to the Beauty Contest (essentially an art contest for drawings of your Neopets) and it got rejected because they thought it was unedited official art

I played neopets until I was 12, and then stopped because I stopped being 12 hurr hurr. Actually, mostly gave up on it because my username contained the word "organism", a staff member misread it as saying "orgasm" and I got banned.

I do have a flight rising account, although I'm pretty lazy about level of involvement with the site.

I think the last time I played Neopets was maybe.. six months ago? I have a friend who's played since pretty much the beginning and is still avidly into it despite having his account hacked and his massive 'fortune' of Neopoints taken by someone and Neopets staff doing... more or less fuck-all to help him.
I guess my favorite pet is probably Shoyrus, but I also like Grarrls and Chombys. Chombies? Whatever.

I have a Subeta too but never play, I feel like its community is just a bunch of annoying hipsters but the pet designs are all pretty cool.

I kinda did that with NeoPets except it was more of somehow my account getting logged off. Always went with a Scorchio and things with it have pretty much been a sort of repeat, just trying to get points to buy stuff and even losing many battles against some clown (I think it was called a Chia Clown). Always wanted to get a Krawk but the pet needed to get it was sold out.

I may as well thank NeoPets (along with trying to look up information on Jackie Robinson and playing on Newgrounds) for getting me more into the internet.

I have a couple accounts at some. I got a Neopets account but most of what I do is Flight Rising. I'm pretty invested in dominance for my flight (Shadow flight best flight).

I remember beating the Clown once after getting handed to it many other times. If I fought anything else, it'd be like having myself stand before an oncoming semi. As for limited edition pets, one would wonder how much luck would be needed to get one. One thing I can remember with Neopets, my scorchio never wanting to eat some jar of marmalade I gotten. It was the one thing it would never eat.

Neopets is actually pretty much a monopoly of several high end players who have been outbuying literally everything from day one.
There is absolutely no way in hell you can match their prices and if you do they mark up their shop prices from the items you have collected.

Lol yeah, pets are picky about certain things. Not just food, but toys too, and even petpets. I bought a Puppyblew one time and my Gelert was scared of it.

But yeah, I was huge on Neopets when I was nine. Neopets was the shit. It went downhill once it was bought out by Viacom, and all the Neopets started wearing clothes. I swear that in the newer "plots" the artwork of the characters made them look almost furry.
