So we get it we are overreacting and we should watch it even though we have the books and the games and we are all just whiny babies and get woke go broke isn't real and Gillette didn't recently lose $8billion due to it got it.

Not necessarily, the doom and gloom could be 100% on the money. And I wouldn't be particularly surprised if it was, either. It's just the nature of media right now is that this is exactly what the show would look like at this point even if it turns out to be good.

He/she/they're/I don't fucking know saying that despite the 'tism the show might actually not be woke at all, outside of the casting. It might follow the books completely faithfully. It's not like the trailer was particularly woke, it was just extremely generic and a Game of Thrones rip off.

There is no way that the show will have the same spirit as the games. If the games are faithful to the spirit of the books, then they won't be faithful to the spirit of the books either.
Witcher, like 007, is very much centered from the 'male gaze'. The netflix show has a female showrunner and she literally said at ComicCon that she wants to move away from the male gaze. She was almost embarrassed to say it in that room. In saying that, she literally admitted that the show will have a feminist ideological bent.
You can see it in the characters. Cavill is meant to look like a hunk, whereas they actually tone down the hotness of the female leads. They look more attractive during interviews.
This completely goes against the spirit of the games.

It might still be good. I am still looking forward to it.

My expectations are set firmly on the ground.

The games are only sort of faithful to the tone of the books. They're a lot more fanservicey. Which is not to say the books don't have sex but there's not gonna be a threesome with two nuns in the middle of a city that's on fire and a bunch of race riots. I'd prefer Yennefer be hotter and Geralt uglier but the James Bond analogy doesn't fit at all.

I don't think you have any clue what these terms mean, and you have the audacity to call my post 'dumb'.
The showrunner literally said that she wanted to move away from the male gaze with the Netflix show. She also alluded to the fact that she will turn elves into a stand in for people of color.

They were basically already native American stand ins, just white looking ones. Kinda. They were actually described as a bit weird looking in the books. Gotta give the black people their charity though.
I'll believe it when I see it but if she does, good. GoT had way too many gratuitous titty shots. And I like tits. It's just...too much.

Shit I just realized something. Yennefer being darker actually makes sense in the context of the show. If all the elves are black, Yennefer has to be darker because she's 1/4th elf.

I agree that a lot of this thread is full of terrible points and some people here very obviously haven't read the books, but fuck that noise. If the males and females aren't equally hot and fanservicey I'll be annoyed. The books absolutely involved appealing to the lowest common denominator at times, including extremely gratuitous sex, it wasn't like it was some high intellectual fantasy.
In fact I'd say the books were worse, at times, than Witcher 2 and 3, which actually heavily downplayed the horndog part of Geralt's life. It's really only the Witcher 1 that's absurd.

Dude, it's HBO. This is what HBO does, from fucking Deadwood to Sex in the City, this is what HBO does.
Netflix is going down and the Witcher hype will sink fast. I feel sorry for Henry Cavill, he's a good actor. Didn't deserve that hit to his career.

I would also point out that when the Game of Thrones showrunners began addressing complaints about "sexposition" scenes and gratuitous nudity in general, the show stopped explaining much of any of the characters' decisions and the plot became increasingly contrived.
Getting what you want can sometimes backfire horribly.

Yeah that naked miner in Chernobyl really got me going.
Him fucking jailbait Shani within 5 minutes of meeting her. Literally. Even Dandelion thought that was a bit much. Witcher 2 and 3 aren't usually all that excessive I'd say. Their fanservice came from areas besides T&A. Though they had it where appropriate. I think it's Witcher 1 people mean when they talk about that. Although I still don't get the problem with the sex cards. It's just some very well drawn cheesecake art.
And I agree really, on the point of hot actors and actresses. I just gave up on that a long time ago and I can live without it.

How about the naked women of Westworld? Did that get you going? Maybe Lake Bell in How to Make It In America, or countless of other shows where there is nudity just for nudity's sake rather than as an interesting plot element in a HBO show. It's fair to just say that this Netflix show is a piece of flaming garbage compared to the Witcher 3, despite the latter's unfaithfulness to the book's content.

Naive of you to assume I didn't mean that in earnest. I also got a stiffy from the tiny-dicked customs officer getting tarred and feathered in John Adams.
It's not out yet, and while I love the game some parts of Witcher 3 are basically pissing on the themes of the books and the character arcs therein, so we'll see. Granted standards for writing in videogames are much lower.

My friend, they made soldiers wear dickhead helmets and scrotum armor. WE WUZ ELVEZ and Yennefer looks nothing like her depiction on the books, let alone Triss. I just want to know how does it feel for Gerald that he's the only white person in the entire face of the Netflix-pozzed Witcher earth.
