Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

I love lost media, but I am so tired of every video I find of it being mostly "OMG guys I remember this lost bumper that aired on Nickelodeon in the 2000s and it scared me! We have to find it, it's part of media history!!"

I hear rumors that the Lost Media Wiki is a bit like TV tropes where if it's not popular they don't care about it, and mostly they care about cartoons from the last 15 years.
The LMW definitely has that kind of problem but I don't know what you'd expect, they aren't an organization dedicated to uncovering every lost creation neutrally they're a forum of random people, mostly autists, children, and autistic children. Much more bearable than TVtropes generally but the community does have a left leaning bias, as is to be expected. Their go to on what people will put effort into is mostly if it's something "mysterious" enough. Cracks, that wizard cartoon, the day with spongebob squarepants search that went nowhere. I can't say they have a bias to the last 15 years of media, due to when the LMW started gaining attention the audience is mostly zoomers that find media before their time more interesting because they know less about it.

this is the same generation that threw a pissy fit over a mid tier horror movie, and also got extremely terrified over the gmod burnt face texture
Don't know which movie but I could guess. Considering the face which is really from HL2, to be fair to the reaction I think you're referring to the aftermath of people finding out it was ripped from a photo of someone's actual mangled corpse.

At this point analog horror has become the gayer version of creepypasta
the whole analog ARG has been getting real stale and done too much, it was great at first with local 58. gemini mandela catalogue, but people keep making them just because its the new "trend" of horror

people add static, "liminal" rooms and such just because they recognize that gets a reaction but dont actually understand why they were innovative or scary in the first place, the backrooms original /x/ posts were spooky because it was an ominous warning about this impossible concept of glitching out of reality, it worked as a small post, now people ruined it by adding monsters and calling any set of similar rooms "liminal"

horror is probably the genre in any media games, movies, anything that suffers most from its trends, horror is hard to make properly but god dang it is so creatively bankrupt from the very start, so many franchises that copy eachother that always have so many garbage sequels, and nowdays people think filling a few checkmarks of that the public considers scary based on the current trend is enough

Hearing this shit about the Mandela catalog is groan worthy. Horror is supposed to be “problematic.” There’s a difference between a Stephen King underaged gang bang and using suicide as an element of horror. You can be shocking with problematic elements and it’s clear the Mandela catalog wasn’t doing anything too crazy referencing suicide.
Anyways glad I never liked le spooky face catalog in the first place.

It's true. I used to lurk the discord and it's just a bunch of autistic fags wanting to see some random old commercial from Cartoon Network or some kiddie shit instead of anything of significance. There's like 30 different articles about The Wiggles on the LMW. Don't even get me started on all the retards that were shitting up the wiki because they needed to make a page about foreign dubs of American cartoons.

You should see the shit that's on their actual forum site. It's not as active as the Discord, obviously but it's still fun to see the most mundane things people want a personal army to go look for.

What the fuck happened to embracing controversy
People still do it, but the vast majority of people who get popular for creative shit are really weak willed and unable to stand up for themselves, its why we see countless stories of people cucking their own content or having breakdowns because of internet hate.
I have this opinion that the worst thing the internet has ever done is let people who were never built for popularity get popular over night, because it always ends with that person becoming a shell of their former selves.

What is everyone’s favorite lost media? Lately I love seeing game collectors seethe when an unreleased or rare rom gets dumped online. I commend people who pretend to repair rare cabinets and just steal the rom it always makes me lol
I think my actual favorite was the wicked witch of the west sesame street being found. Though I enjoy the gaming footage that was lost. I really wish i had known how to archive before crashmanexe DFE'd he was a great resource of bootleg video games.

in terms of media that was lost and then found I really liked the search for Ready 'n' Steady the fact everyone thought it wasn't real and then boom it turned out to be real and as a nice bonus the song kicks ass
However in terms of media that remains lost, I'm most interested in the lost japanese king kong films from the 1930's, that and London After Midnight is another one that I'd like to be found one day because the plot sounds too interesting for it to be lost forever.

The movie in question is Megan is Missing, zoomers on Tiktok were talking about how scary it was, but it turned out to be a rather bog-standard horror movie. But I will say that the corpse model being an actual corpse is fucked up at first, but then when you realize that taking stuff from books and images was pretty standard from the 90's to early 2010's it isn't all that shocking especially when you look at the model more closely.

The 8-hour cut of Greed, the 1911 film version of The Jungle, Megan Wants a Millionaire, and the third season of I Love Money.

The last two are interesting because they're only lost because the winner of that season of I Love Money, and also subsequent contestant on Megan Wants a Millionaire was a serial domestic abuser who strangled his wife death, and then mutilated her body so badly she had to be identified by the serial numbers on her breast implants.

Let's just say Megan dodged one helluva bullet.

Speaking of everyone's favorite lost media, let's talk about everybody's most hated or least liked lost media. I feel like for me it would the search for saki sanno bashi, it just sounds to fake and why anyone would want to find is beyond me when it's basically baby's first edgy lost cartoon creepypasta.
The Basement Tapes, the Armin Meiwes videos, the Sandy Hook surveillance, and pretty much any other video that depicts an actual gruesome crime, or criminals raving about the shit they're gonna do.

Mostly because those kinds of things should rightfully never see the light of day, and almost always never do anyway, and because the people who seem eager to find them for "archiving purpose" are definitely not in it for that reason.

It's one thing for a criminal to accidentally end up on a gameshow, or whatever, but it's a completely different story when it's actual lost media of the sick shit they did, or them bragging about it.

definitely agree I remember when DD was lost media and hearing from Scaretheater that it had been found, I was mortified that a video that horrific had been discovered. Anything like that needs to stay lost for good.

I was gonna say that if I remembered it's name. YMS is a sperg with his own thread but his old reviews are great showcases of the worst of cinema. Megan is Missing seems to be a modern case of media made to be serious that ends up being so bad it's good comedy.
(Probably can't see it on here because Youtube's sensitivity policies marked this as "disturbing content")

I'll be totally honest, I want to see Christine Chubbuck's on-air suicide.
They actually used to have a dedicated "NSFL" lost media group in the Discord, I don't think they openly advertise this side of the community on the LMW or even the forum, because obvious reasons.

Besides pedo shit I too am tired of autists obsessing over old ads. Who cares, they’re advertisements they’re not works of art.
My favorite lost media moment was Izzy and the Quest for Olympic Gold being found.

I want to see Christine’s suicide as well but if we don’t the reenactment in the movie about it is pretty good. When it comes to lost gore I understand the curiosity behind it.

Ngl but when I find old family TV tapes I get more excited to see the commercials instead of the programs…just something about advertisements make them perfect little time capsules and I remember more of them than I expect to.

And yes, I still have a working VCR.

The G4TTV show Portal, which I watched as a kid religiously from start to finish as it was coming out. Last I checked most of the episodes are archived but enough are missing that I'd rather wait to see if its archive is ever completed than rewatch it piecemeal. The show is corny as hell but I'd love to see what I remember from it.
