NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) - Files as crypto currency

So how did it go? did you mint it? did anyone bought it?

I mean you could say that about 99% of the shitcoins out there but there's still money on it
Its still in progress. I’ll have to walk thru the minting process with the artist and transfer to the client. Keeping most of the money just as USD and the transaction thru wire transfers. I’ll just have the artist transfer it to the clients wallet. Ugh, but first gotta teach them both about crypto wallets.

Wait, so the client commissioned a work and now he's pretending to be the one that made it?

No, not at all. He commissioned it. The artist is creating it. I’m the middle man connecting them and handling the work becoming an NFT. The work will be attributed to the creator, but the client will own it. There will also be a physical piece to accompany the digital NFT as well.

How many NFTs are tied to a physical item? most I seen were just a jpg or an mp4

I haven't seen consoomerism this bad since trading hats in TF2. It's an actual cult. Remember when NFTs were new and the general discussion was "I want to monetize my artwork"? Artists wanting to be able to make money off of their hour-long projects? Fuck that, now we hit 'generate' on an engine and sell it for $500.

Not many, but if you look thru what's coming up at Christie's/Sotheby's you'll see some where it's a digital file AND a physical artwork. Mainstream collectors need something physical to own, otherwise they don't get it or feel comfortable.
I recall that meme artist banksky selling an original+NFT then burning the original so the NFT would go up in value or something

Anyway, how you promote an NFT if you're not famous anyway? some kind of gimmick like that? not like bansky needs any more promotion

You luck out and stumble in at the right time or you network. Successful artists come out of communities. It’s often about who you know and who they know. Talent is part of it but much less than they’d like to admit. For NFTs keep in mind huge sales prices are more often than not are being paid by the crypto rich. It’s another way to legitimize the currency. It’s not just about the art.

Context, he made dogecoin, according to titleknown in Tumblr.

...honestly, by the time he said 'inherently right-wing', I knew tha this was going to be propaganda which, if anything, convinced me that cryptocurrency is good. After all, if cryptocurrency is bad, then you would not have to hide behind tonnes of 'anti fascist' buzzwords.

Been staking ERC-20 NFT pools. It's a decent way to make a buck off the NFTs market, both in fees as well as price exposure, without having to spend all your money on a jpeg.

They aren't a jpg or mp4. Copyright ownership is not transferred through the sale of an NFT. You're buying a link embedded in a blockchain.

If you tried to use the jpg or mp4 for commercial purposes, the copyright owner can sue/DMCA you.

How are you going to make money when you don't even know how they work? You don't get the jpeg, you get a link. If the copyright owner decided to remove the image from the linked location, you now own a link to a 404.

She's a high end escort that "DJs" to get paid.

Any time you see an attractive D-list celebrity doing some WTF promotion, it's because that's how the payment gets laundered.

Not really sure where to post this but.. Nerdcity? Those thot-busting YouTube underdog heroes? Almost a year since their last upload, so I decided to check up on them. Turns out they've been making NFTs. Not as a gotcha, not as a SIKE!, not as.. Yeah it's just NFTs. What an absolute clown world.

Their last series was based around YouTuber merch and how artists should be paid properly and not be disgraced for monetizing their work. Year later they're shilling 3D 'art' that is created exclusively for meme appeal or shock value as means to sell for thousands as NFT.

It's such an odd move, especially given their super sober takes on Youtube's anti-LGBT blacklisting etc. I've been to the Discord, it really is NFTs and crypto. There's not an ounce of irony behind it. They do however produce really good and long content, so I guess the eventual video will be worth a watch, but god damn. Last people I'd expect this from.

I consider everything they've done to be... sincerely participating in the grift, but also being honest about it. They tried to become an instagram influencer then made a video about it, they tried to make merch and made a video about it... So yeah I hope they try to make an actually successful NFT and then make a video about it. They're basically documentarians of internet grift bubbles.

They rose to popularity based on doing call out videos on more popular YouTubers. That's textbook grifting.

You don't know them personally. Their branding and messaging has been consistent and targeted. Just because you found the window dressing for their grift entertaining, doesn't mean it's not a grift.

Neopets Metaverse is going ahead. I won't lie, I was considering buying one of those crappy NFTs just to see how scammy this would get, but the price point for these fuckers turns out to be way out of my budget for memes and lulz: $240-$960!
The more that sell, the more expensive they become. I will admit it's pretty ballsy to announce something that is so obviously a scam. At least other sellers try to hide that a little.

Here's the JN summary because the official website is trash. The way to buy does seem pretty convoluted.

what is it about NFTs and crypto that make these people base their entire identity around them? Furries I can sorta understand, weebs too, but fucking monopoly money and jpegs? Most of these people exclusively tweet about how much they've made/lost in the last 60 seconds, have .eth in their name, have an avatar that looks like half of the subjects of this forum spent 5 minutes in paint, or a mix of all three.
