NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) - Files as crypto currency

Question about NFTs.
So it's a crypto coin tied to art files. okay. Dumb as hell, but ok.

So....why can't the art be good? Why does it always have to suck so much? I've seen better deviantart abominations, so why do these NFT artworks look like that?

Cause they need art fast, cheap in mass. A lot of it uses random generation too, so they can just create a general pattern and watch pngs go brrrr.
This is why I generally dislike NFT's. It's not about artist being able to make money on their art, but rather another way to make money out of thin air.

He should sell commemorative Happenings. If @Null was really unethical he could sell NFT's representing ownership of each lolcow thread, and make them buy out the thread if they want it off the farms.
To double the scam, after a certain period of time Null would allow the creation of another thread. “You bought the rights to delete the first thread, not the second”

Yeah, there's a good way to get lawsuits.

The fact that almost all trades happen by the top 10% isn't surprising. Pareto principle happens in most markets and it's stronger in luxury markets.

And to whom exactly would you complain to

Anyone who will listen, as it goes with kiwifarms lolsuits. But it does open up to more liability when you have a transfer of money taking place from the lolcow. Wouldn't be too hard to try and frame it as blackmail, for example.

I have 0% legal knowledge btw, it just seems like it would open you up, so feel free to correct me if you know better.

The modern day, modern art!

Remember what I mentioned before about Ubisoft and NFTs. Well:

Link for the curious. Also apologies but I didn't use the Youtube screenshot, probably because all the dislike addons for browsers are not available for Brave.

It just feels like all these companies trying to do NFTs are astroturfing them, like Ubisoft and AMC, they're pretending there's more demand for them than there really is, and that people would actually appreciate or love getting them instead of being apathetic at best to them.

It's such a weird trend to see.

Figured this would be good as a first post, hope this isn't in the wrong thread.

There's this really exceptional NFT guy I found who's trying to get attention from Elon Musk. How is he doing it? Making a website with Elon Musk's name to advertise about him selling his fucking toilet as a million-dollar NFT, while traveling with it around the world in a gorilla suit and treating it like a god. He also thinks that Elon Musk's tweets are subliminal messages about his plan to message this guy about his fucking toilet. Also, the toilet is partially broken and he grieves about it every time it breaks. I wish I was joking about all of this, but it looks pretty damn real.

Here's an archive of his website.

Here's the OpenSea listing for his toilet.

At some point the NFT market will be flooded, and only remarkable and notable NFT's from the boom period will be valuable. Also they're only valuable if someone is willing to buy, so just because it has a high markup or you bought it for a lot doesn't mean you may ever get a return on the investment. You can sit on it for a long time and hold out for a buyer, but if there's no one that wants to buy your pixel art of a skinny white guy with a bandana and monocle, you're just stuck with it in your little Second Life house.
