Ah yes, the classic "you just claim to hate gays because you secretly want to fuck us, Q.E.D.!" gambit. Trannies use the same "reasoning" to deflect the natural revulsion most people feel when they encounter them.

Doesn't work for them either.
I’m reminded of IMG_1674.webp . The reductio ad absurdum is somewhat weakened nowadays because the internet has spawned spider coomers amongst all manner of grotesque :lunacy:

It just wouldn't be the Internet if pedo discussion and finger pointing didn't happen on every single topic.
As the number of posts n approaches infinity the probability of the thread being derailed by a “is loli pedophilia” debate approaches 1.

Am I crazy for thinking this character design is pedo-bait? It reminds me of purah from botw. I honestly want nothing to do with the game because of this.

You need to turn down your pedo radar a bit, from where I stand it seems you have tuned it to the "alarm if a pedo probably gets excited" setting. The problem with that is that pedos get off to anything mundane as long as it contains a child, including a kid just walking back home from school. You have pedos living rent free in your mind.

You're most likely ok to play the monkey video game.

Seems to have been pushed forward by the success of the Mario movie, /v/tards call it "forced soul". It doesn't particularly irk me (I think a shakeup was inevitable after the NSMB style stagnancy), though I haven't been a fan of the new VAs. The reason they replaced diddy with pauline (and why diddy isn't in mario kart world) is I imagine a move to purge the Rareware influences (a move driven by Miyamoto first and foremost); Also explains the change of DK's design to more closely match the original's. May seem a bit far fetched, but I'd urge you to investigate Nintendo's interactions with RareWare and Argonaut Software and draw your own conclusion on the matter.
There's a shitload of DKC and Rare references in the game. You are incorrect.

That's a problem that solves itself. Anyone dumb enough to put their genitals near creatures with fangs, lightning-fast reflexes, a tendency to bite when threatened, and often packing nasty venom deserves everything they get.

I hate this trope. I remember back in the Toonami days they sometimes called it the "Sasami Effect" because Sasami from the Tenchi series was "technically" well over 100 years old so it was totally ok to lust over her. Never mind that she was asleep for most of that time.
I'd say there are 3 variations of the trope.
First one, character looks like a child, acts like a child, is otherwise indistinguishable from a child except for a blurb of dialogue saying that because they're an elf or whatever, they're 100+ years old. This one is mostly fine, just a bit of quirky worldbuilding.
Second one is when the character looks like a child, but has the mind of someone their "actual" age. Already on really thin ice, but as long as the character isn't sexualized despite looking like a child, it's relatively harmless.
Third one is when the character looks like a child, but they say "it's ok, they're actually X00 years old!". Woodchipper, now.

Purah in botw is the second one, with her literally being a senior citizen, but having had an experiment with an immortality device backfire, and no direct sexualization. Luckily, TotK fixed this and gave us "100+ year old, but looks like she's in her 20's" Purah.

Goytendo felt they had to "set the record straight" on DK. #NotAllMonkeys want to kidnap and hold White women hostage... so they turned Pauline into a kid to have her be protected by a monkey instead. So deep Ninty... I feel like my prejudices have been shattered!
Recent leak and trailer came out a few hours ago revealing that we are getting a spiritual successor to Another Code and Hotel Desk on Switch 2.

Get ready for Dear me, I was …

Another "spiritual successor"? Why can't we just get the ACTUAL successor to Hotel Dusk, Last Window, brought stateside? It's already been translated into English for 15 years now. Sad.
Hotel Dusk II Hyde.gif

I bought that game on the switch and dropped it when it took 2 hours to load a stage. ill update and let you know if they loading is barterable on the switch 2
Loading times are still too long. around the 12-18 seconds range to load tracks and hub areas

Not sure if Nintendo is publishing this one, so might be a rights issue. So far only Arc Systems has been mentioned.

In my opinion, regardless on how the characters look, the "they are over 100 years old" debate is stupid. Some species live longer such as the elves. Imo, we should go by when the people of each species are considered adults.

These guys are considered adults at age 148? Fine, let us go with that.

These guys experience a growth spurt where they grow horns or something between the ages of 8 and 10 that their culture recognizes as coming of age? Fine too, different creatures age differently at different rates. Not everyone ages like a human.

These guys come from a planet where the years last longer so while they might be 20 on their planet but 30 by our standards? Ok, let's do some math then.

And let us not get to gnomes and hobbits. They look like children but they age closer to elves.

And what do you do when a culture considers it appropriate to have a teenage girl to be married to a grown ass man? There are cultures like that in the world and that was the norm for many places, including the civilized countries. What if the setting is medieval-esque or older?

How do you deal with all that? Well, I remember reading a post about a DnD party that goes to a bar, orders drinks and the bartender brings out a list with the legal drinking age for every species. I liked that because it made sense for a bar to have that. I like that kind of worldbuilding. Imo, just establish the cultures of each species and when they are considered adults.

I'm more worried about paulinas singing, how intrusive is that gonna be? If I have to hear Nintendo's equivalent to "Let it go" every time you transform or whatever I might jump off a bridge.
Hopefully you can turn it off or something.

But why did Nintendo make Donkey Kong so muscular and ruggedly handsome?
And so lewd, barely wearing any clothes.

If they're not going to remake it like Another Code then I guess we'll have to wait for the inevitable NSO release of DS games. A sequel to Chase would be nice as well, but I'm sure that's not happening...

I'd also of course be interested in a sequel to Last Window to cap off the series as a trilogy, but if that ever happens it'll probably be a ways off, after a remaster/rerelease or whatever.

With these issues you judge a work on its intent, which is generally obvious. It's not inherently bad to have fictional species age differently or to portray other eras/cultures, but if they're used by the author for inappropriate sexualization or to normalize degenerate behavior that's problematic.

I'm guessing DK rescued her from being abandoned and she's got ratty clothes. Maybe it's her origin story and you take her to New Donk City at the end plus it's named after DK for being a hero. A twist on King Kong in NY.

I got my switch 2 as a gift, really loving MK. Switch 1 was always a perfect console to have to entertain guests. A lot of Mario games are casual friendly and anyone can play. Hopefully the new Mario Party is fun enough. The old one always ruined the vibe every time I pulled it out.

The new Mario Kart seems to be balanced better. There are obstacles when in 1st, but not endless hell coming from behind. The extreme sado masochism feeling is gone. I swear 8 Deluxe was almost spiteful in it's punishment.

I really enjoy free roam and the hundreds of outfits for the characters. Amazing music. I would recommend the videogamedunkey video on this game. He was an annoying motherfucker in The Last of Us 2 era, but he's finally focusing on being funny and professional.

Do games require specific updates to run better on Switch 2 or do most of them simply run better by default?

I was sort of interested in Endless Ocean Luminous if it was able to run better. The reason I didn't buy it on Switch was because it looked like it had really bad performance. I like the series so you don't need to tell me it's boring and busted... I've played them before. :P

Most of them simply run better. The one I know for certain is Mario Maker 2: spam/lag levels don't lag anywhere near as much on S2 as S1. On release day, I saw streamers trying different lag-inducing S1 games out, and most ran better. Did not see regressions. But this is just anecdotal.

I have played and enjoyed Endless Ocean, was really the most excited one in this thread when it was announced - just skip it.

The game is fine, but heavily underbaked when compared to its Wii counterparts. It lacks the well crafted landscapes that keep fish contained in areas they would fit in as they went for a randomly generated world instead. The game also removed any and all story, which is a massive downgrade from Blue World. Progression is shit, it is now tied to just doing stuff in the randomly generated world rather than going from story chapter to chapter - they lock story progression behind a “find x amount of creatures” bar.

Everything about the game screams budget title. The presentation is terrible, gameplay features like the pulsar gun for sharks was removed, and there is literal AI voiceovers.

While it can be fun to explore the ocean, if you wanted anything more than the bare minimum of seeing fish, I would recommend staying away from it and just playing the Wii titles instead.
