Surprised, as I heard that the new DK game is really good.

Surely all the imported foreigners will be using their welfare gibs to buy shit for their creaturas by then. Why do you think Goytendo has injected feces familias into every single one of their brands over the last decade? It isn't just for the D.E.I. shekels, they want to capitalize on the "nuEuropeans" and the "nuCanadians" and of course the "nuAmericans". Pokemon was ahead of the game on that front, shitskins everywhere in those games since B&W. They still use their Caucazoid-featured Negroids of course, but their shit hasn't been subtle, it's pretty gross. Exhibit A.)How are kids supposed to get their parents to buy them 90 dollar games and 450 dollar consoles? Does Nintendo even really have a future past the year 2040 when all the millennials are approaching retirement?
Dude, one of your favorite characters looks like a mish mash of 3 different cultures, at least be consistent on the racial rants.Surely all the imported foreigners will be using their welfare gibs to buy shit for their creaturas by then. Mario Wonder had a pajeet thing going with the architecture and the rando elephant powerups. And it takes one glance at Splatoon to go, "Yeah that's some Kosher conglomerated nigger culture", with bass-ackwards clothes, dysgenic mud characters, and the entire gameplay gimmick of shitting graffiti everywhere. How Ebonic. Thing is, I used to be a pretty hardcore Nintendo fan, but now I spend my debased currency on Gold and Silver instead of over-priced bad games. The economy is simply too shit and the industry too languished. Everything I could want I have at my fingertips due to the Internet and I have pretty much every good game locked away on an XHD for me to pick apart at my leisure.
Yeah, Baseball would have been better especially as Switch 2 can just place Aces. I guess from my stand point, it's Mario fucking burnout. We don't need this many fucking Mario titles. Not even SEGA is that bad with Sonic and they don't have the same treasure trove of profitable IPs Nintendo has. Its not like Mario Tennis has been that good since the Gamecube days.I would be more fine with this if it wasn’t fucking Tennis, the most overdone, boring Mario sport. Sluggers has been sitting dormant for over a decade and a half and would be prime for a sequel using all the characters they just shit out in Mario Kart World. They even just recently made a Mario baseball toy that people were finding a new DK render on.
Hell, if Nintendo really wants to appeal to their black base so much, why not bring back Mario Hoops or really any of the Square sports titles from the Wii/DS era. Could really go for Hockey, Dodgeball or any new variety of sports.
How are kids supposed to get their parents to buy them 90 dollar games and 450 dollar consoles? Does Nintendo even really have a future past the year 2040 when all the millennials are approaching retirement?
It was painfully mediocre. I am even saying this as someone who mostly got into Nintendo during that era. The Wii U/3DS was Nintendo at their most bland and tone deaf. It was an era where they went hard on Mario, yet every title needed to fit the mold of New Soup. In many ways, the Wii U heavily skewed to having the same issues @Fox Girl Enjoyer is saying with Switch 2, an endless supply of Mario and adjacent series comprising the full line up.I'm not accusing you of this personally, but I feel like there are a lot of modern Nintendo fans who try and pretend the Wii U first party lineup was in some way uniquely terrible to avoid comparisons with the Switch 2
Switch 1 knew how to spin up a lineup for its first year. Start with BOTW and some minor titles like Snipperclips to try something a little new. In a little over a month MK8DX released, fixing up the main issue with the Wii U game, Battle Mode, giving the console a major multiplayer title that will last the year. From there, next two months bring in new IP ARMs and next mega multiplayer/online game Splatoon. Between Splatoon and Odyssey, we got tons of smaller titles to build out niches: Mario + Rabbids, Pokken Tournament DX and FE Warriors. Odyssey was the most ambitious Mario title since Galaxy and having Xenoblade follow it up really helped cap off the year. Also, it would have been far better for Camelot to make another Golden Sun than another spin off sports title. I think that's another massive issue with Switch 2. Switch 1 had Zelda and Xenoblade within the first 9 months, so you really had some games with some meat on them. Switch 2 its the exact opposite. DK Bananza is probably the longest game but you can still beat that in a weekend or two. I think Zelda for sure did a lot for the software release cadence because by the time most people would be done with the game, ARMS and Splatoon 2 were around the corner. Now it’s the multi month wait for Kirby Air Riders. Switch 2 really needs a nice big RPG.
The Mario stuff up front was pretty embarrassing. I’d talked to friends on Discord and made a slightly cynical, mostly boring “Safe” prediction and unfortunately ended up being mostly right. My predictions:
What we ended up getting:
- An updated Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch 2 that adds in Super Mario Galaxy 2 for $70
- A Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with a content expansion like Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I proposed three new worlds and they would add DK to the roster of playable characters.
So not only did I call these shots with marginal success, but I aimed low and Nintendo still went lower. As for the rest… it’s weird they tease Yoshi at the end of the first Mario movie and then jump straight to Super Mario Galaxy. I get that they planted seeds in the first movie about Peach’s potential relation to Rosalina, but I dunno. I guess they didn’t have much to say about dinosaur land? There were also a lot of Animal Crossing/Stardew type farming/life sims in this direct. I counted four? Five? Dinkum, Tomodachi Life, Stardew Valley, Pokopia? That’s so many. And there was other weird stuff, too, like how they announced the release date for FF7 Remake Intergrade here and then like 20 minutes after the Direct ended, Square tweeted out that all three FF7R games are coming to Switch 2 (Remake, Rebirth and, idk, Reunion?). Seems like that would have been a better use of that slot, don’t you think?
- Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 bundled together on one cart for both Switch and Switch 2, priced at $70 (or $40 separately).
- A Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder with a content expansion like Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Seems to be two new worlds, and no playable DK. Focus is mostly on co-op minigames but they promised other content they’ll reveal later.
And, of course, the other big sore thumb: The Virtual Boy. It’s incredible they are doing this at all, but locking it behind a $100 plastic headset or a $25 cardboard headset is absolutely insane. They are absolutely selling you $10 of plastic for $100. I’m not even going to designate $25 for cardboard, either. I know tariffs are what they are, the economy is what it is, but it feels like Nintendo’s pricing things worse, and worse, and worse, and worse. I’m sort of glad I don’t have a Switch 2. I don’t think I’d be able to use it much at the rate things are going. I will gladly sing Nintendo’s praises and how they are the only developer actually making real money in video games right now, but their business practices have been feeling less and less forgivable.
And then, like… Yoshi’s Island is one of my favorite games of all time, and it was immediately followed up with Yoshi Story, a game that is aggressively polar opposite from what I wanted. And no Yoshi games have recovered since then. Yoshi & The Mysterious Book looks like Yoshi Story 2, so already I’m shaking my head and turning away. Just about the only thing I felt positive about in the Direct was Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. And, like, maybe Fatal Frame. Oh, and I guess Metroid, but something about that feels really “off.” All of the trailers they’ve shown for that game are really sauceless and flat. Like, Nintendo treated Metroid Prime as this huge flagship success on the Gamecube and now… they just kind of dump it at our feet with no theatricality to it at all. I think the game looks fine (even the open world stuff), but I expected a little more song and dance. A little more razzle dazzle. It spent so long in development and the promotion cycle for it feels more like a resigned sigh.
Just saw someone mention this the other day. Metroid got done dirty in the direct. For what should be the main adult title of Switch this year, they gave it less time than Rosalina’s story book, didn’t even have a narrator mention it. The graphics and texture work are all over the place. It is very clear that Prime 4 underwent development hell just by looking at it, and given its treatment, I have a feeling not even Nintendo is confident in it.Nintendo treated Metroid Prime as this huge flagship success on the Gamecube and now… they just kind of dump it at our feet with no theatricality to it at all. I will say, I kind of like the GoodFeel Yoshi titles and even DS, but even I am unenthusiastic about the new Yoshi title. It looks painfully slow, the animations look horrendous (really pay attention they have an awful Spider-Verse like lack of frames), and gameplay seems really boring. Maybe they can clutch it and prove me wrong, but very bad first impression. And then, like… Yoshi’s Island is one of my favorite games of all time, and it was immediately followed up with Yoshi Story, a game that is aggressively polar opposite from what I wanted. Very curious how Virtual Boy is going to work. Nothing in the listing indicates the games are locked to anything but the online subscription. Me thinks Nintendo is being very shady in their wording with you needing to have the headset to play the games as more than likely it is just needed for 3D effect with games fully playable through a normal subscription. And, of course, the other big sore thumb: The Virtual Boy. Not really getting a feeling you need the headset for this as it only ever states you need the membership when speaking on being able to play games. Guess it waits to be seen however.
10$ of plastics? That's 1$ tops. It's not even some upscale with sane colours. Nintendo fans will pay 100$ for literal eyerape and games that are shovelware. And, of course, the other big sore thumb: The Virtual Boy. I mean, that's kind of my point. Some people are lying to themself about how much better the current and announced Switch 2 games are than say, the first year of Wii U games. I think they are pretending a lot of Wii U titles were less beloved than they were as a cope. There were several points during the Wii U's lifespan where people were pointing out the irony of Nintendo's games at the time having near universal acclaim and yet nobody wanted a Wii U. By the end of its lifespan, the Wii U was viewed similarly to the Dreamcast. Small but stellar library of games trapped on a system that sold like shit.In many ways, the Wii U heavily skewed to having the same issues @Fox Girl Enjoyer is saying with Switch 2, an endless supply of Mario and adjacent series comprising the full line up.
Most people generally did not think Mario Kart 8 or Smash for Wii U were downgrades from their Wii iterations at the time of release. In fact, many people who were into Melee and Double Dash the previous generation felt the Wii versions were major downgrades due to mechanics like the trips in Brawl, and the way the boosts work with bikes in Kart for Wii, and Mario Kart 7/8 and Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U were kind of considered returns to form.Past that, many of the titles just came across as major downgrades...
Sega was never keeping Nintendo in their place. Sega was the retarded third-string in Japan and Nintendo didn't even acknowledge that they existed.Wish SEGA was still around to keep them in their place.
It's the reason why I lost interest in buying a switch 2. I'll wait until emulation is a thing or buy one second hand down the line. The idea of a single penny going to people who peddle nonsense just turns me off the whole thing.Anyone who tries to argue Nintendo aren’t “woke” is straight up wrong at this point.
Nintendo have completely killed the word “gender” on the Switch 2. Now Miis have “styles” suggesting your gender is just a costume you can change in and out of.
Europe was like the only region where sega was running circles around the compition, everywhere else sega was the other choice(in Japan even the PCE out sold it). Sega got lucky and that's all. Their solution to every issue was to just throw money at it and hope things worked out. Which worked fine when arcades still made bank and most compition within the console market were tech companies that knew jack shit about games.Sega was never keeping Nintendo in their place. Sega was the retarded third-string in Japan and Nintendo didn't even acknowledge that they existed.
The 90s "console war" is mostly a fiction made up post-hoc by SoA marketing guys who want to launder their reputations and aging gen Xers/elder millennials. In reality it was Sega getting a few early wins, barking at Nintendo in commercials, and then imploding (oh, and the SNES still outsold the Genesis).
Assuming sega didn't waste millions on developing overpriced arcade boards while they were dying and overbudgeted games like shenmue. They'd basically be what microsoft is today. The third option barely hanging on. Nintendo wouldn't see them as a threat to their profits at all.Wish SEGA was still around to keep them in their place.
The only thing worse about 8 from wii, is the shitty character selection. So many slots are wasted by the koopa kids and varients of the main cast that the DLC and deluxe never bothered to fix. But yeah, I remember mario kart 8 being received well. Most people generally did not think Mario Kart 8 or Smash for Wii U were downgrades from their Wii iterations at the time of release. That's not me saying you have to like these entries-
that is entirely subjective- this is me saying the critical and audience reception for those two games specifically was overwhelmly positive and to pretend it was not is factually incorrect.
I hate that nintendo kidfied the series. Yoshi's island has such a good Difficulty balancing that the later games just threw out the window for bland kiddie stage design. The series overall has a similar issue to star fox where there is only about 1 or 2 good games and everything else is just a shittier imitation of those games with failed attempts to change the formular(though not to the same degree). And then, like… Yoshi’s Island is one of my favorite games of all time, and it was immediately followed up with Yoshi Story, a game that is aggressively polar opposite from what I wanted. That's laying it on a little thick. The Saturn (!) narrowly beat the N64 in Japanese sales. SNES vs Genesis was like 4:1 in Japan, which is bad, but still much better than PS2 vs Gamecube ratio.Sega was never keeping Nintendo in their place. Sega was the retarded third-string in Japan and Nintendo didn't even acknowledge that they existed.

So Nintendo is going to survive off of Disney Adults who will pay $400 to eat a hot dog if it is on a pikachu plate. Miyamoto also seems to be in his late stage Walt Disney phase (focusing on amusement parks and the Brand instead of the core product)The pricing recently just confirms to me that Nintendo has decided to go all in on milking millennials. This isn't a terrible strategy as millennials are loyal to what they like and have a lot of money to spend, but I just have to wonder... what comes next? The reason why you have all these manchildren willing to drop thousands of dollars every year on your shit is because you psyopped them when they were young into loving you no matter how much you abuse them.
How are kids supposed to get their parents to buy them 90 dollar games and 450 dollar consoles? Does Nintendo even really have a future past the year 2040 when all the millennials are approaching retirement?
That's absolutely not true. The reason there was this rivalry is due to regions. In Japan, the Super Famicom was the clear winner, but in Europe, it was the Genesis. In both of these regions, it wasn't close for the winner (it should also be noted that Nintendo struggled in Europe until the DS. It's a big reason its PlayStation territory as they took it from Sega). The fight was always over America which is why the rivalry seems so intense. The Genesis sold 19 million by 1999 according to SEGA and Nintendo about 23 million from their latest report. There is some dispute over these numbers but every source has them within a few million of each other. The reason the SNES still outsold the Genesis by quite a bit is Japan was a bigger market for consoles at the time than Europe was, so the margin was bigger (Super Famicom sold 17 million there). In the US though, it was really felt as the NES sold over 30 million and SEGA took a real chunk from their market share.Sega was never keeping Nintendo in their place. Sega was the retarded third-string in Japan and Nintendo didn't even acknowledge that they existed.
