I am surprised that Kirby Air Riders is 70 bucks.

Maybe I shouldn't be, because it's modern greed-filled Nintendo, but I thought for sure that this game would get the Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker treatment and be sold for 40 or 50 instead of 70. It looks more interesting than Mario Kart World, and thank god the entire game is not poisoned with open world garbage, but I look at this, and I look at Bananza, despite my personal dislike of Pauline and etc-- Bananza justifies that 70 much much more than Air Riders does. So much more content there.

I know, 70 is the new standard for the flasgship mascot/AAA releases, but Kirby Air Ride, not even a new flagship Kirby game, just a sequel to a spin-off, is 70. Doesn't seem even close to fair or justified. The nostalgia-blind Nintendo manchildren will still buy it of course, but come on, is every single game that has a Mario or Link or Inkling or whatever on it gonna be 70 bucks automatically? Fuck off with that shit. Not giving me any more reasons to buy as someone who isn't anywhere near Nintendo-pilled as it is.
Do you seriously think Nintendo was ever NOT greedy as fuck?

If so, are you retarded?

If you crack open a Nintendo Power magazine from late 1997 or early 1998 it was definitely listed with the upcoming games. Mario Wiki quotes it from being in a Miyamoto interview (the "Ask Miyamoto" section).

The only caveat of this is if you take the opinion of "Miyamoto never tells the truth" but that also means admitting that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest isn't Ura Zelda but rather Ura Zelda with all the 64DD-specific features ripped out.
Interesting but I suspect it never entered full production. 2 player mode with Luigi was part of earlier builds of SM64 but taken out because of the memory issues described in that issue. The DD would have fixed them and it would have been easy enough to have worked that out on DD hardware with SM64 assets after release, bear in mind that the DD was feature complete by the latest one year after the base Nintendo 64 launched, lacking only an acceptably large playerbase to sell it to and slate of titles to put on it.

The 64DD content in the Gigaleak was practically nonexistent, seemingly because the Pokemon faggot who pulled it off didn't think to download DD items, it would be quite funny if that motherfucker left Mario 64 2 behind while being extra sure to record all of the various Pokemon cry data and other such bullshit.

IIRC what was leaked to the Internet and how much was taken aren't equal numbers, I don't know if they're still sitting on that or that doesn't exist anymore.

The lack of 64DD stuff is disappointing but I do believe the rumors that there's not much of EarthBound 64 beyond the first chapter. Still, there's a lot in screenshots that have no GBA equivalent.

I believe the official narrative is that "Super Mario 64 2" and "Super Mario 128" are used interchangeably and that most of it was incorporated into other games. I can also fully believe that courses that later used in Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy were originally drawn up for the sequel to Super Mario 64 (if not scrapped SM64 courses altogether).

EB 64 was technically an external project, so I am not surprised by its absense. As to the stuff being reused in later Mario games, the ideas surely were but the course layouts would be almost unrecognizable to account for Fluud and gravity tech in those two later games. I'm a bit spergy in my continued fascination with the thought of what the cut, never completed and imagined levels for Mario 63 were. Its such an iconic game but things went missing too and we can only chase after ghosts to wonder at what they were.

I don't believe goytendo was as greedy as they are now back when Iwata was taking a paycut to help his employees out. And maybe they were always greedy, maybe that's the nature of this crap - but DLC announcements before a game even comes is special olympic gay. And there are 20 different examples from the last year.

Iwata did not take a pay cut "in order to help his employees out", he did it to prove to investors that he had faith in his own vision of the company and that they should too.

The "Iwata took a pay cut, Nintendo good" is just one of those cope stories that Nintendo fans use to justify their love of the company and its products. Various American CEOs (most of which are hated) have pulled similar stunts over the years.

They trooned out Lubba - a character explicitly referred to as male in the original release.

The troons are acting exactly how you'd expect:

And just like Vivian in TTYD remake, they're gaslighting us AGAIN. "T-T-T-THEY'RE JUST CORRECTING A MISTRANSLATION, GOIS! LUBBA WAS REFERRED TO AS FEMALE IN OTHER LOCALIZATIONS!"

Fuck you Treehouse. *sigh*
So to sum it up, the current trans representation in Mario consists of:

A deformed dinosaur that every character in-universe reviles and reacts to with visible disgust.

Really gets your noggin joggin, don't it?

Well, it's also a cope people use to say that "Nintendo used to be better and less anti-consumer!", while conveniently forgetting who kickstarted the DMCA abuse and each console getting more expensive than the one that came before as if Iwata just couldn't stop them despite being the president of the part of Nintendo that actually controls what the company does (especially with how many games the Wii had being carry overs from the GameCube and some of thier sequels or other games that came out like Pikmin 3 starting life on the Wii).

Super Mario Sunshine I imagine a sequel was never on the table due to the GameCube's lackluster sales...and then the Wii U also was a poorly performing console.
Time works in a circle.

The main Mario team went and developed Donkey Kong Jungle Beat after Sunshine and before heading into Galaxy. Nintendo basically created a new division starting with Jungle Beat that would spearhead Mario titles, so Sunshine likely didn’t receive a sequel due to Donkey Kong much like Odyssey.

Wii U was dead console by 2016. Odyssey likely started development for it, but was way better to keep in the closet as a first-year Switch title. There really wasn’t enough time for Wii U to get another 3D Mario.

By who? Console-war fags? I seriously doubt, after the initial missteps with the system, that they were hurting when the 7th generation was all said and done (especially given that they managed to outsell the Xbox 360 in the tail end of the system’s life, the same Xbox which was Microsoft’s best showing ever btw).
The PS3 had Sony lose all the momentum they had from the previous gen, which was extra bad when it was just around the time gaming became far more common. Ironically, the PS3's main issue was that it was the "last real console", with everything afterwards being prebuilt PCs.

Funny, but still not should be in games for kids.

The Playstation 3 is considered a failure and it sold 80 million units.
That's because it was expensive and sold at a loss. 80m is actually good if you're not losing money, or at least have enough software sales to recoup the losses, which I'm not sure they ever did. 360 seemed like the go-to for multiplatform games, which probably hurt it.

The truth is the only Nintendo IPs that can really move consoles on their own are Zelda and maybe Smash Bros.
Mario can do it, but it needs to be a 3D Mario nowadays, I don't see a 2D entry doing that.

This notion is going to haunt my dreams now.

When the PS2 sells 140 million units there's no way anyone at Sony thought the PS3's 80 million was good enough. Its telling that they fired/let retire all of the people who built it and brough in a new team (except for Cerny) for the PS4.

I understand this, but gift cards are usually small and are gifts that are typically outsourced to family members. Maybe Mom and Dad will throw a $20 gift card in the pile, but it's more likely they tell Aunt and Uncle to snag one or have Grandma and Grandpa do it. Parents want to watch their young children open real presents. I'm also saying no parent is going to hand their kids $200 in Robux. And if they are, they should be lynched and have CPS called.
Load up his account with Minecoins, don't tell him, and watch his reaction the next time he logs in. It's literally the same thing. I'm not saying that we're not giving him physical gifts, or that we're spending $200 on Minecoins, but I'd rather give him $50 worth of something he wants then some fucking plastic trash a muslim chink made in a concentration camp that cost $50 at Wal-Mart.

It's quite typical now for kids to show off new shit they got in Roblox/Minecraft/Fortnite the same way I'd show my friends a new Gameboy game in 1995. And to be honest, I don't see how getting Minecoins to add lasers and Tesla Cyber Trucks to your favourite game is functionally any different from my parents buying Wario Land for the Gameboy. All you're showing is that you don't have kids in the year of our lord 2025.

You've now officially lived long enough to see yourself become Skinner. Welcome to the club, brother.

You do understand how autistic this is, right? You have to have some self reflection to understand how horrifying this is:
to show off new shit they got in Roblox/Minecraft/Fortnite
Compared to this:
I'd show my friends a new Gameboy game in 1995
Right? You understand that one of these things is autistic and one is just kids being kids, right?

Nevermind, I guess you don't. Okay, I will tell you, but I'll respect your intelligence and spoiler it in case you figured out why one scenario is more autistic than the other.

MINECOINS AREN'T FUCKING REAL

It's literally the same thing.
It's not the fucking same thing. One thing is in the real, physical world and one thing is in the virtual stratosphere that only matters to kids and amounts to cosmetics that mean NOTHING. I'm sorry, I know it's what kids like nowadays. I know it's current thing. I know it's what's hip and cool, but the reality is parents aren't cool and they never have been. Parents overall will choose things for their kids to physically interact with over some virtual cyber sphere they have no fucking sight on. Why? Because half the fun of buying your kids a Christmas present is seeing them play and enjoy them.

I get the meme and your sentiment behind it but I hope you guys at least have the self reflection to see how autistic this stance is. I hope you all understand that if your children are happier to receiver virtual gifts that aren't real and don't exist as opposed to something physical and in the real world, then you've raised your children horribly wrong. Why do you think there's such a push amongst the people here on the Farms who ARE parents to minimize screens as much as possible?

Imagine ranting about how ten-year-olds enjoy video games in 2025 like this and then telling another person they're autistic and lack the power of introspection.

The difference before was Nintendo made good games and charged you a reasonable price. As a customer, they treated you well. Even when the 3DS got a price cut, you got a fuck ton of GBA games at least. Nintendo's lawsuits were also relegated just to people distributing ROMs.

Now Nintendo doesn't give a shit about you as a customer. They charge you way more as they see you as a piggybank and the games are fewer and not any better than what you've already played. Add in more lawsuits and the Palworld lawsuit (a game that got big because Pokemon went to shit) and you can see how Nintendo appears more greedy. People see Iwata cutting his salary as good because it felt like Iwata actually cared. If Furakawa took a pay cut, people would mock him and tweet Don Quijote deal on Nintendo's social media. How you treat your customers goes a long way towards your public perception.
