Nintendo Switch 2 - For the Soytendo consoomers to speculate about the successor to the Switch, recently announced for 2025.

This is needlessly pedantic. We are a little over 40 days out from that point with Switch 2. There's nothing that big coming by then.
Assuming that there isn't something with a stealth launch shipping within those days

That being said, I still haven't bought any S2 games yet as I'm picking through BOTW, LM3, and AC:NH right now. Might get the new Yoshi game before DK as I find I don't like playing too much open world games back to back if they don't have clear objectives I can tackle in 30-60 minute segments

To be fair, I totally forgot about the new Yoshi game. That series is not my thing, but at least it's not more open world shit.

Do you feel like the BOTW Switch 2 upgrade is worth it?

Bro, I literally said if you don't like open world stuff, there's not a lot on the Switch 2 and you cited two open world style games. I guess you're as good at reading comprehension as you are at quoting the right person.
I wouldn't say that DKB is an open world game, its levels are small and connected by loading screens. Maybe you should check your own reading comprehension. As for 40 days not mattering, rumors are that the Star Fox game, not yet announced, is out in June so no 40 days actually does matter.

Nintendo themselves refer to it as open world and free roaming, so you can fuck right off, bud.

Arguing this library is better than that one is ultimately so subjective. I think if you prefer more traditional Nintendo games to open world stuff, you could make a very good argument that the Wii U had a better first party library a year in than Switch 2. I have Mario Kart World. I don't play it. The open world means nothing to me and I don't care for it. If you like it, cool, but ultimately I had a lot more fun playing Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World and NSMBU when they were new games than I have with Mario Kart World.
Switch 2 is arguably more traditional, it has a Kirby Air Ride sequel and a probably the best Mario Tennis that tries to be a hybrid of GBA and GC. Even Mario Kart World is largely taking inspiration from fan demands of old, be it the ability to drive anywhere from Peach's Castle on 64, to the open world being a large scale Diddy Kong Racing hub/DS Mission Mode, both of which were requested for the series.

If we are taking in Switch 2 Edition additions, then you get a small, yet solid 3D World like with Kirby & The Forgotten Land's DLC. Mario Wonder also greatly expands adding some the best 2D Mario boss fights in the series and bringing back a form of Challenge mode from the NSB games.

From where I stand, Switch 2 is solid, just lacking the heavy hitter. If it gets a 3D Mario/Zelda, it'll take off and really have a library of its own.

As much as I like Switch 2, would say of the new titles, DK is near the bottom of the 4 exclusives. It probably beats out Mario Tennis, but Kirby Air Riders and Mario Kart World are much stronger titles if you are looking to start.

Now I'm not going to argue these were all better for Wii U, because Switch introduces portability, but if you already had a Wii U or didn't care about portability, there was little advantage to upgrading to the Switch version of most of these games and you may as well have just played them on your Wii U.
Pokken Tournament has more characters and even DLC on Switch. Hyrule Warriors is also better since they went back and ported all the 3DS content over, whereas before it was just characters that could be transferred.

Yeah, well, they're wrong. If they don't have a large main map area its not open world. The world has to be open to be open world or you might as well say Mario World was open world since it had secrets to backtrack and find.

Probably not. The only thing that seems to be different is the companion app that has voice navigation and other nonsense, but I haven't really tried it out much. I don't see as many red moons though, I've beaten all four divine beasts and completed maybe 40 shrines and only saw three red moons the entire time. I think TotK might let you build a bigger house and more elaborate contraptions but I'm not sure yet.

Blood moons trigger when there's too much memory in the background that needs to be unloaded, so it makes sense that would occur less on a console with more RAM, as silly as that is

one of those isn't even me
You cannot be this stupid. The quote that wasn't you was the one you called a lie.
one more edit- that pile of exclusive you listed were faulty as well, since a few of them were multi-plat, you didn't even bother to check if it was true.
They are "multi-plat" because they were re-released for the Switch, which was the whole point Betonhaus was making. They were exclusives and intended to forever be such, which was the point Lone MacReady was making. Your inability to recall the thread of an argument is genuinely concerning.

The fact that he can't comprehend the concept that before the Switch was announced the games were exclusive to the Wii U, same as how Switch 2 exclusive games are exclusive to the Switch 2 in these years before the Switch 3 comes out, is very telling.

There's a lot of people under 25 in this thread who spent their formative years playing Switch and it shows. Switch is just goated by default in their head because they grew up with it. If you say something as tame as you had more fun with 3D World at the time it came out than Odyssey, but Odyssey is still a fine game and you could see why someone else would prefer it, a blood vessel pops in their eye like King K Rool and they'll write a novel telling you why you're wrong.

Nintendo new game philosophy has become either, sequel with a "new" open world even if it doesn't fit the game play style (mario kart pokemon metroid) or just add customization features instead of actually coming up with new features and concepts (Animal crossing tomadachi life).

You are arguing with a person suffering from a severe case of "must be right syndrome." I didn't want to shit up the thread by responding to your previous post calling him out (I was going to congratulate you then warn you not to expect any kind of acknowledgement of any error or inaccuracy from this type of personality) but I wish I had, because I was also going to predict this exact kind of response from him (an attempted nitpick at something that might superficially look like an error if you're not paying attention (or stupid) but is clearly not actually an error, simply because he must prove you are more wrong than he is at all costs).

It's entertaining to watch the exchange, but I wouldn't suggest getting invested in it. He's got a read-only mind and isn't going to be changing his opinions or admitting any errors. He's here to lecture, not converse. Staying engaged with him will just wear you out with no real benefit to you.

I think he's got some form of insecurity related to liking old Nintendo games and even to an extent, still liking Nintendo, why else would he frequently bring up emulators as god's gift to man when 90% of the regluars in this thread (Me included) emulate old consoles pretty often and don't need to make post after post about how betterer emulation is. (I think everybody knows at this point) Even the dedicated emulator/retro games thread isn't like this. Yeah, games were better back then but it's not that deep, and Nintendo's games, even back then were easily trounced by third parties (or even Sony and Microsoft back when they were competent) in aspects like graphics, story, and actually being hardcore games. (I can name several games that had characters with more depth in one game than Midna ever did in Twilight Princess and every other apearance she made after that)
Why do you have a problem with me saying emulation is the future? You're not gonna stop me lol. And careful with that graphics over gameplay argument, because switch 1.5 games certainly aren't trouncing any single Sony/Microshaft game under those conditions. Speaking of....
Insert "they're the same picture" meme here.

This is a video game thread nigger.

It's the way you say it that's the problem, not what you are saying, because I do agree in some ways, but going "X fucking sucks and I can play Y instead at 8K, look how much better I am for doing it" instead of "If you really wanted to play X or Y so bad, then there are many better options of you're willing to put in the effort on your end" like how former Kiwi @Slav Power did with Windows and Linux only makes you look like you're clinging onto emulation because the corporation you don't like over thier recent decisions and products but still want to experience it instead of actually wanting the best out of your old and ever aging games.

It doesn't matter if I can emulate Link's Crossbow Training at 4k when I can play infinitly better games, even with the same emulator, also at 4k for the same price, because at this point, I've been long past the "emulate to stick it to the man" mindset that the majority of the emulation scene has (for justified reasons, but still not a free pass)

If a game doesn't interest you or is being rereleased, you just keep playing what you got, or in the latter, just play the original or a differernt rerelease, in whatever form you have availible. like am I really going to miss out or be upset over BOTW or whatever game Nintendo even puts out or whatever port or remake they bring out will be when I can play any other game in a different franchise instead? No, not really, and nethier should you because you can just play another game instead.

I was saying that the PS2/3 and OG Xbox and Xbox 360's lineups trounced Nintendo's games lineups from GameCube to Wii U entirely (Including third party/indie games that didn't get ported to those nintendo consoles and vice versa), but okay.
