Nintendo Switch Presentation - Live Stream - Post Presentation Discussion

I really hope 2018 looks way stronger than the launch window and following year. In all honesty this lineup is what the Wii U should have in it's final year or two, not in it's first.

For what it's worth I reserved a copy of Zelda and the console with some christmas money.

I wonder which one of you Kiwis will buy Chris a Nintendo Switch.

I wouldn't mind the shit about the online services and the lineup too much, but an extra $100 for the system in Canada? I'll be waiting for the price to drop a bit before I consider buying it.

90% of preorders from legit retailers probably go to resellers who flip them on ebay for astronomical prices. Happens every console launch. I remember the Wii going for $800+ (versus $250 MSRP).
Resellers probably don't want to risk holding onto $300 items for buyers before the 30 days is up to return. I'm fairly positive its Nintendo doing their false scarcity bullshit all over again.

I want the pink and blue one in order to be a special snowflake, unique from all the other lame-os who got the gay grey one, but how can I be unique if everybody else is getting the pink and blue one because grey is stupid. I know the NES was grey plastic and the 80s was all about neon pink and neon blue, but give me some more color choices other than the weird abstract-vaporwave pink and blue Miami Vice wannabe color. Which is kinda cool but already gone.

Wait does it play Wii U games because if it doesnt that's a HUGE misstep. If it did, you instantly have a library of games that people wanted, but didnt want to own a Wii U for. Instantly your launch line up becomes much larger for games people may not have played. And those are your "evergreen" Nintendo titles like Mario and Zelda Warriors. It's not like youre cutting in to the profits of your super profitable Wii U market, you arent going to be losing Wii U sales.

Like instead of releasing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe they should have just kept it the same, and released it as a launch title but bundled it with codes to unlock all the DLC content or whatever, and then have the extra content they release later be free for three months or whatever. Or you can do another ambassador program, because if it looks like this thing is not moving in the first few months it's gonna be dead on arrival and a sinking ship from the get go. Blood in the water, and all that, and if this fails, it might actually be the last nail in the coffin for Nintendo (as far as releasing consoles rather than just going back to being a toy company/now health product service)

If anything it would help them but companies are so full of shit now they would rather just eat losses on selling systems and hope people want to buy the same game rereleased five times across three platforms every four years. Theyre all afraid to be backwards compatible because then they wont be re-selling you the games! The used game market boogeyman defense. You have to wonder if it's actually more profitable for them, though, Id be interested in seeing those numbers.

Yeah they removed Backwards compatibility, but it's not the same as the bullshit that was the removal of the locking the backwards compatibility off the "New" 3ds when it's literally just the same as the normal 3ds and Ds save for minor features/processing power. This time the reason is they're using Cartridges instead of discs because the system er excuse me "smart device" IS the controller.

Octopath reminds me a little of FFT or Vagrant Story visually speaking.

I'll need to know more about the online before buying, but switch is lookin' good.

Hope we at least get a port of Pokken Tournament with all of the new arcade characters on it. As sad as it is that Pokken Tournament for the Wii U won't be getting them, it'd be a crying shame not to get those new characters outside of arcades (certainly no arcades in my area)
