No Time to Die 007 - Time to Go Broke

Just got back from watching it. I thought it was good, definitely better than Spectre. I was expecting a 2 and a half hour wokefest, but it was pretty much your standard James Bond movie. Lady 007 wasn't too annoying, but they didn't really give her that much to do, plus she was completely outshined by Ana De Armas.

Best of the Craig series imo. Personal rankings:

1. No Time to Die
2. Skyfall
3. Spectre
4. Casino Royale (I think it runs out of steam by the end)
5. Quantam of Solace

Also since some people have forgotten about this quote. As much as I think Idris Elba would be a great Bond, Barbara has made it very clear in the past that Bond will always be a male, and I think he will stay white. She has always doubled down on the statement recently.

Do you guys think that Craig aging so badly is what caused his character to go from reckless rookie, to bitter old man in the span of a single movie?

I saw the damn thing last night. While every complaint made about the movie in this thread is valid, it still is a much better movie than Moonraker was. Hell, it is not even the worst Craig Bond movie, which was Quantum of Solace. It was well paced and it felt a lot shorter than its 165 minute running time. It just is the exact opposite of what I want out of a Bond movie.

Action scenes are top notch but script and plot are shit. Banter is gone and Bond's back to being super cereal and all PTSD. So little to no humour or fun.
I honestly think the scene with him and Paloma when all semblance of sanity and seriousness goes out the window as she shatters physics (and somehow not her ankles), he largely ignores gunfire and then serves them both a drink in the middle of a mass gunfight is the producers testing to see how much people like a scene with almost zero seriousness in contrast to a much more serious film.

Honestly, if the filmmakers gave the black female 007 the same kind of set piece that they provided to Paloma, I think a lot of people would take a lot less issue with that casting decision at all.

I mentioned it upthread I believe but it feels like they were actively screwing her over.

She never got that same sort of scene as Paloma, her big one-liner was awful, she was repeatedly shit upon by her colleagues and superiors and she was largely incompetent needing Bond to provide intel for her to follow.

I feel she could have been a more competent character but she was instead closer to the comic relief.

The sad thing is the franchise gave a lot more respect to Grace Jones in A View to a Kill, and that was a horrible Bond movie.

I think Grace Jones would have too much self respect to take the role as the female 007 as it was written. I want to think that, anyway. I am a fan of hers.
Per View to a Kill and Conan the Destroyer, Grace Jones had a way of looking at the camera that convinced me she'd hop out of the television and throttle me for real. She's perfect for intense roles like that.

They really should have gagged the actress pre-release and nobody would have whinged about the film demasculating Bond.

I think that was the case originally, but the backlash prompted a rethink and ultimate overcompensation from the writers.

After all, we already know they changed the virus to nanomachines, son

Possibly. It's part of why I have minimal sympathy for her since shooting your mouth off about how absolutely amazing and powerful the fictional character you are depicting is (hi Captain Marvel) rankles me.

New Bond is a 3 out of 10, or 1 and a half stars, or whatever grading method, the "creatives" basically doubled down on everything that made the Craig movies progressively mediocre with each newer installment.

The good: Action sequences are better than they’ve ever been in the post Casino Royale 007 films, because they clearly spent like $1 billion making this movie

The bad: The action sequences are boring because the plot/villains are dumb even by Bond standards, or even the standards of some of the lesser 60s campy "Euro-spy" films...and all the characters are unbearable except for hot Cuban girl. Figures she's only in the film for ten minutes.

Its a shame because there's glimpses of campy fun (one liner after the eyeball guy, bond throwing a grenade back only for 5 more to come back) but it was decent overall, let down by the ending being poor. Didnt really have a problem with how the characters were portrayed, M being shady is fine for a disillusioned Bond.
Neither of the major villains getting a cool death is terrible and deciding to go with him dying instead of living from a distance feels a bit mean spirited. Hell, i'd even have taken him faking his death

Also cant stand it when comedians are cast as characters in films, can never take it seriously as them playing a role

Ana De Armas feels like the kind of "strong female character" that would have appeared in the Dalton era. She's ridiculously hot and overpowered but she's funny and sweet unlike Black Power 007 who is just a humorless cunt through most of the movie. (Nomi is actually attractive when she first appears, then she quickly removes the wig to show she's a powerful black queen and never recovers.)

No Time For A Decent Title is probably the best looking Bond film but it's story is generic and the action scenes (aside from Ana kicking people in high heels) are unmemorable. I can barely remember the opening title sequence it was so mediocre, and even the gun barrel was weird and short. Rami Malek's character is literally just a nobody who manages to wipe out every important figure in the franchise through flower power. Gay as hell.

"We have all the time in the world."

FUUUUUUCK YOU MOVIE.

Not only does the theme play early in the movie, as does the OHMSS theme, but the song plays over the end credits. The Craig movies have not earned that. Nor should the ugly old bastard be driving a Dalton car. The Craig movies post-QOS lost direction, and just like the Sequel Trilogy desperately call back to previous better movies to try and prop up their woke faggotry. For Christ's sake, he knew Vesper for two fucking days before she betrayed him. Granted she had the best tits on earth, but a battle-hardened assassin in his 50s should not still be pining over a fling fifteen years on.
