Why'd you do it, Luna?

I guess this goes to show that even the best content creators can fall.

The downside of this trend is that, unlike claiming to be gay in the early 2000s, being emo or goth, or even claiming to be a transman or transwoman, is that there's no walk to walk. If you say you're a dyke, you have to either commit and fuck another woman or back off and say it's a phase. If you say you're punk, you need to dress and act so or else you'll be called out. If you claim to be a transwoman, the average population will hold you to a standard of shaving, wearing feminine clothing, and hrt. But what the fuck are the standards for something that doesn't even exist? You don't need to grow up, you don't need to prove yourself, you only have to throw the word around.

This phase started in what, 2013? And I only know one person who's ever grown out of this NB phase and he ended up as a transman who only identified as NB because he was essentially brainwashed into it by the man-hating radfeminists around him. The rest are all women who doubled down on being NB. I'd post pics but there's no point because they look like your average white broad. I don't think they'll ever grow out of it because most people hate being wrong and there's no way you can actually prove them wrong because there's no standards for a bullshit concept.

Alternatively, her good friends the "man-hating" radfems were trying to get her subscribe to an idiotic label exactly because there's no walk to walk, as an alternative to self-mutilation, hoping she'd grow out of "reee I'm not a gurl".

For some people being non-binary is a genuine thing that makes them feel more comfortable, and that's fine if it's not hurting anyone but Tumblr's vocal minority has ruined it for the public eye with its oppression olympics circlejerk culture where people will slap whatever made-up label on themselves just for approval amongst each other, the philosophy being that you're immune to criticism if you're the most societally victimized person in the room. I think people should be able to do whatever they want with their lives, but for a certain group of people there's a more disingenuous motive to it and that's why people think all NBs are special snowflakes.

Non binary is not real though and maybe worse than the concept of being regular trans tbh. Gender just refers to the role stereotypes we have socially for men and women. Some people don't conform to those roles. At least regular trans people argue there's something about biological sex that they feel differently about. Non binary is at best just a way of saying "I'm not one the regular girls/guys" and at worst saying that if someone has a peepee but likes to sniff flowers, they are not actually male but some other thing.

The desert island test works wonders here. If a non binary person was alone on a desert island, would they still be non binary? The answer is no because it's right there in the name: "NON binary". It literally doesn't exist without a bunch of "binary" people to compare it to. It's a negative descriptor rather than a positive one. It describes what you're not rather than what you are. It literally can't exist without other people.

It's literally just a way to say you're cooler than everyone else. People have existed that don't conform to stereotypical gender roles forever. It's only recently that some people have decided this is super special identity and only because they are literally the most sexist people on the planet. Men are all lumberjacks and women are all housewives and if you aren't a lumberjack or housewife, you're not really a man or woman.

Men are all lumberjacks and women are all housewives and if you aren't a lumberjack or housewife, you're not really a man or woman.
And that's pretty much the only reason that historical/cultural examples of third genders have existed, it's because they act too gender non-conforming and are therefore not considered a "real" man or woman by society. So by giving them a label you effectively remove them from "normal" society and from being able to live a normal life. (That and also men who were castrated for whatever reason)

If someone could present a valid case for a "third gender" or whatever, I'd be willing to entertain the idea (hell, I'd love to see this). But every supposedly non-binary person I've seen just exists somewhere clearly between male and female, as just a mix of the two. Beards and dresses. Make-up and grease. That's not a continuum, that's scrap parts glued together into an identity. We already have a perfectly good word for this, androgynous, which clearly explains you're not on one of the polar opposites of gender expression. Show me that you have a valid reeeeson to be considered neither masculine nor feminine, not just a mix of the two, then we can talk.

I don't think this will happen before aliens.

This. Absolutely this. Every time I interact with someone claiming to be non-binary, I say that I'm willing to listen if they can present a valid case for "non-binary" as a gender, and every single time I get nothing in response. Hell, someone I got into a debate with flat-out said:
some idiot said:
Honestly, screw scientifically true. That's really the magic lgbt*q+*, you're free to be whoever you want to be!

Lol, are lgbt identities essentially a religious phenomenon? You can at least prove that you’re gay, how does one empirically demonstrate that they’re a genderqueer demigirl? This is why “queer” as a term is not only cringy but also utterly meaningless

To be fair, nonbinary/androgynous people DO have a biological frame of reference just like "regular" trans people. You can be born intersex or with the "wrong" set of chromosomes for your apparent sex, or have a hormonal condition that affects your secondary sexual characteristics like PCOS, or gynecomastia. Again, I feel like it really doesn't matter what someone wants to identify as if its not harmful and makes them feel better.

Bitch tits are non-binary?
There are usually two of them.

"Queer" to normal gays and lesbians is a slur. They do not like it, for the most part. It's simply a term people use when they don't have a real term for themselves. Like, if you're gay, lesbian or bi, you just say you're gay, lesbian or bi. Why the fuck do we need this term unless it's for stupid idiots who want to feel oppressed? It's only used by people who haven't got a valid reason to have anything to do with the lgbt community.

First of all, intersex is not non-binary or trans and intersex people have been on record ad nauseum about not wanting be involved in trans ideologies bullshit. Fucking PCOS doesn't make a woman somehow a third gender and neither does gynecomastia for men. That's actually offensive to both imo.

But for two, I'm sick and tired of the "if it doesn't hurt anyone" argument because it definitely, demonstrably, DOES hurt people. The people these assholes "identify as" get hurt quite a lot. Such as the aforementioned intersex people who now have to deal with trannies shitting up their activism with thier fake ass problems and lesbians who are basically hated by everyone in the world because the real ones are outnumbered by fucking tools claiming to be them while acting like fucking super-autists. How about an axe-wielding maniac with a dick in a dress chops a bunch of people in a convenience store and then the crime gets logged under "women". It absolutely hurts people, Christ.

I've had older gays tell me that back in the day, you didn't hear the word 'Queer' unless it was followed by a brick. There have been some strides in reclaiming the term but it still rubs a lot of true & honest fags the wrong way.

I hate the word "queer" being used in reference to the LGBT community. Just because it sounds dumb as shit. Sounds like "queef". Who thought that was a good idea?
Also it's pretty much exclusively used by "quirky" chicks who can't bring themselves to call themselves bisexual because it sounds too normie for them. *cough* Erika Moen *cough*

The people who used to beat the shit out of gays and smash their head in with bricks made up that term. That's why it sounds like shit. It's literally a slur.

In most places that aren't the internet and liberal hives like Portland or San Fran, queer is still a slur. You call someone a slur in your average college town, people will just accept it as "oh they're gay/trans" without question and it might even be seen as a compliment since being LGBT is a badge of honor in some groups. You call someone a queer in rural America, you better be prepared to back down with a good apology or get your ass handed to you by that person or their friends.

Lived in a pretty right-wing low class area in the heartland of America. Everyone was working class, everyone who wasn't from the cities were hardcore red-identified, American and confederate flags everywhere, decently high crime rate, agriculture economy, etc, pretty much the stereotype of redneck America. Made friends with some people who were pretty open about not liking LGBT and looked down on most people who weren't white. Despite me not being white and them knowing how I identify, we were tight as tight could be. Some white soy guy from the cities made my acquaintance and called me queer in front of said friends. From how the atmosphere shifted, you would've thought he just said to lynch all niggers in front of the Black Panthers or was a black dude who started banging the Imperial Wizard's wife in front of KKK rally. They got up in his face, yelled at him, scuffed him up a bit, and made sure he got lost.

Moved back to a very notoriously liberal area for work. Got called queer within the first week. That was a big fucking whiplash seeing queer all over campuses and having people call me queer like it's a compliment. Made me feel a bit bad for that guy from the cities. In his mind, he was trying to make a friend. To my friends, he just shat all over one of their own.
