That would imply that the event is going to be good. We both know that this isn't going to be the case.
I'm not watching any of that shit.
You will and you're going to shitpost with the rest of us in this thread, because you probably don't have anything better to do. But look on the bright side: If watching the presentations on their own isn't going to be fun, shitting on and making fun of them is definitely going to be. Maybe we'll get a "Bully Hunter"-esque segment or a >muh tranny suicides PSA in the same vein as the darker ones in the 90's/early 2000's called "Words Can Kill".

It's sad SoS & RF went woke, they used to be great. Based on how ugly the art is in Farmagia it's more of the same situation or worse.

Edit: Never mind the Farmagia comment, the dumb fucking article I clicked on popped up video of an unrelated game, Molly Medusa.

More like molly mystery meat, holy shit.

Dear lord this looks so bad, like a high budget bootleg that actually managed to be playable on 6th gen consoles without the aid of emulation. and yet it screams "Zelda fan game that was made becuase the people behind it just wanted to play as the gerudo and were big mad that Link is still white even after all these years".
That and the "it's about time Zelda is a woman" crowd.

If they're going with a spring launch then yeah, but when would they reveal the system and its upcoming games then?
Last Switch was revealed in late October before a March release the following year. I suspect they will do that again.

I expect a decent Nintendo Direct, if it's nearly another year before they even reveal Switch 2, and maybe longer if they launch at the end of 2025, then they're gonna need at least a few notable games.
Best guess is that they have 1-2 game reveals to finish out on. Would bet on them bringing out a Mario Baseball or Party, then they will have one more smaller title to pad things out, could see a Fire Emblem or Kirby. Other than that, we know Pokémon Z is coming, so 3 decent titles would carry a few months.

In addition, they will have a ton of 3rd party RPGs or farming sims. My guess is we will get one more "cannot believe it made it" port in a similar vein to Doom or Nier.

ZA was announced as a 2025 title.

Okay, but what if instead of all that, I exclusively follow the thread and infer how bad the presentations are based on how everyone else is reacting?

I think it gives them margin to delay again if th situation with the yen somehow gets even more dire but given that their biggest titles in development are for S2, they will have to jump eventually and I think we are seeing the limits on what you can do in a system's end of life already.
Yeah, but it's probable we'll see some cross-gen releases at first. I just don't see them dropping Switch like a bad habit.

That and the "it's about time Zelda is a woman" crowd.
What's telling about those people is they really do want to just ruin things for the sake of it, proven by crying for female Link, then Linkle is created but it's not good enough because they want the real actual Link to be female. It's all about claiming and changing what you like, not only getting something they want.

I was under that impression too, but as I mentioned before Nintendo has given themselves quite a bit of wiggle room as to when they'll announce it, that could be for any number of reasons but it makes me a bit less sure.

We've got a lot of Fire Emblem & Kirby, that'd be pretty underwhelming. I'm still hoping for Donkey Kong.

RPGs hopefully, especially Mistwalker stuff. Supposedly Fantasian is being ported from Apple Arcade to PC, but it'd be a great Switch game too. Of course, Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey would be miracles but I'm not holding my breath.

There's been a lot of DK rumors throughout the Switch's life. I'd absolutely love for them to finally come true. I wonder who'd dev? Retro is busy right now polishing up Prime 4 and starting on their next project. A few rumors have mentioned it being in-house at Nintendo...I just hope they use the Country characters if that's true. Jungle Beat was really missing them.

I've always thought they should either partner with Rare or get Playtonic to do it.

Donkey Kong is a big hitter though, one of their highest grossing series, I doubt Nintendo would stick it within the last year of a console when they can just wait it out and have it be a year one release for Switch 2.

The rumors point to the Odyssey team, which can be a bit concerning. I love Odyssey, but the Japan side has made it fairly clear they did not like how Rare handled DK, so much of the extended cast will likely be MIA. King K Rool has been a character that should come back, yet it seems Nintendo has little care for him. Maybe Smash will change that, but IDK.

Rare is basically dead, all the old boys left to Playtonic. As for Playtonic, not sure what is up with them as they rebranded and seemingly became an indie publishing studio with no developed title since 2019.

I assume the Switch ports of both Ace Combat 7 and One Piece Odyssey are gonna make a re-appearance for the Nintendo Direct but a different "game that was previously thought to be impossible to run on Switch" reveal would be neat.

It could be cross-gen, they're gonna want at least one or two of those.

It'd be a big mistake to take DK too far from Rare's established lore, even Retro kept most of it (aside from King K. Rool for some reason).

Yeah, that's true, but maybe like Nintendo, Rare maintained the same spirit and culture there.

As for Playtonic, they're definitely working on something and it's probably big, also likely (unfortunately) Yooka-Laylee related. I don't dislike YL, but I'd prefer to see them do spiritual successors for Dinosaur Planet and other Rare shit, or ideally work with Nintendo.

I don't even know why you'd bring up Rare, to be honest. They would demand the game be a dual Xbox release and Nintendo has zero reason to do that.

Microsoft seems to care more about making money than caring where their games are played, and it wouldn't be unprecedented, so I don't know why you think it's impossible. It's not likely I guess, but it could happen.

Safest bet would be Nier Replicant coming over to join Automata. Not exciting, but I don’t see why you wouldn’t.

Part of me thinks FF7 Remake would be the game. With Sony sinking, and Smash going hard on FF7 content, it would be the perfect chance to jump ship for Square.

Nintendo told Retro they don’t need to bring back K Rool, so either Nintendo nudged them to leave him out or Retro decided to. There is a quote from a former dev saying they had too many talented artists to simply go back to the Kremlins.

In saying this, Nintendo spent much of the GC scrubbing the series. All of the GC games ignored him. His appearances were relegated to inconsistent spin-off appearances: King of Swing, Barrel Blast and Super Sluggers. DK himself just got absorbed into the Mario series for much of that time, where only Diddy really appeared.

Coming back to say you were right, they are remaking Yooka-Laylee:

Yeah, but look how that turned out, nobody cares about or remembers the vikings or the other group, whatever they were. Knowing Nintendo though they'll yet again bring in new, forgettable enemies...

Damn, that's the worst outcome imo. I'd rather just get another new YL game, or preferably something wholly new. Oh well, hopefully it's at least really good.
