Null's Gambit - My attempt at getting Chris to talk openly

I'm really not sure about this. While Chris may be able to live by himself, I honestly don't think he's capable of living independently. While it is quite possible that I've been too influenced by what I've read in the CWCki, I just can't see Chris being able to maintain a household (cooking, cleaning, buying groceries, taking care of the little odds and ends that pop up in everyones' lives) without help. And, yes, I know that Chris's area is much neater than the rest of 14 BC; however "much neater" does not equate to "clean". Chris's room is still a mess.

So, while I don't think he's destined to end up in a group home or anything like that, he is most definitely going to need a very patient tard wrangler to help him in his day-to-day life, to monitor his internet/social media contacts, and to make sure he's meeting his Patreon/eBay shipments.

Chris already handles the basic necessities of living on his own. He feeds himself, clothes himself, pays the bills and does chores. Barb is a parasite and if she disappeared tomorrow, he would be "living independently" and still be fine. (Except for losing 14BC, of course, but that's why he needs an apartment.)

I don't know why posters here have this belief that Barb is a levee for Chris. She contributes nothing to their household and takes most of his money to spend on garbage, burnt their inheritance on a pointless legal defence and doomed 14BC with a reverse mortgage.

Barb isn't the problem. I think Chris needs to be taken off of the internet altogether. He can't manage the internet at all, and his internet problems keep interfering with his life. The problem with removing him from the internet is that a lot of people on the internet have invested themselves into Chris, both trolls and white knights. It will require some doing to extricate him from that. I can't see anyone being willing to wrangle Chris as long as he's being pulled in a million directions by a crowd of people exploiting him online. I think the "neghole pozzing" rule was a good one. But very few people seem willing to follow it.

Chris could certainly work toward living independently. But not while he's being manipulated and exploited like this.

Chris can live on his own in a small, relatively organized one bedroom apartment without the animals, her clutter, and constant demands for this and that.

A new environment like that would do wonders for his mental state. 14BC isn't a healthy place to live in by any stretch of the mind and hasn't been since 1999-2000. Barb is the #1 reason for that.
People keep saying this, but it's based on how a normie would act given the situation. Chris is not a normie; he's spent all his life isolated in that junk heap with only Barb to keep him company. People also claim that Chris is always thinking about moving out, but he always convieniently finds reasons to stay. I don't care how abusive his relationship with Barb is, if he wanted to get out, he would. Moving out is probably just like sex to Chris. He wants to see what all the fuss is about but once he does experience it, he'll get bored and go back to what he knows best.

I think Chris would LOVE to get away from Barb. Im not saying he could, but I'm sure Barb herself just guilts Chris into staying. Probably playing mind games on him, threatening suicide and stuff. That's her M.O.

Saner people than Chris get stuck caring for an aging, abusive parent.

She does.

I've heard her scream at him on the phone.

With a home life like that, who could be expected to turn out normal? It's actually kind of impressive that he's so chipper.

We joke about Chris's fake marriages, but the poor guy has been in an abusive marriage with Barb for years now. At least magic-chan doesn't threaten to change the locks on him if he goes out for the weekend.

He had to put new tires on her van and get a full-service oil change for Barb to agree to let him use it for Bronycon - she's always scheming something.

The car won't be ready on time so it was his only option other than Amtrak or whatever.

Ah nice! Chris is taking the shaggin wagon to Bronycon!

If the Aerostars a rockin, don't come a'knockin.

Also, that shit is definitely breaking down to or from Baltimore.

How sad is it that an imaginary magical hedgehog treats Chris better than his own mother?

I still think Chris's belief in CWCville is disturbing as hell but, in a weird way, I can kind of understand it.

Like this one, you mean?

Oh yeah, you're right. It is organized in a way that there is consistently no fucking room at all because BUY.

How is Chris finding the money to spend on maintenance for two cars when he was struggling to find the money to repair one?

Removing Chris from the internet would be a great way to start working on his delusions. The problem is that Chris thinks he's a superstar, and the internet gives him an endless supply of money and attention. You wouldn't want to keep Chris away from his loving fans, would you? And therein lies the problem.

If Chris won't stop living his deluded life online and relying on free internet money and attention, there are always going to be people who can have a way into his mind (and his bank balance). Sure, most people just like to sit back and watch his daft ideas, but those that throw money at him and go along with his delusions just extend the bullshit idea in Chris' mind that he's this amazing artist with electric hedgehog friends that everyone loves. People wanted Chris to 'get a job', and now his 'job' is selling Sonichu shit. What will Chris do without the internet? What alternatives does Chris have right now? His place in life as he sees it is being this 'chronicler' of his imaginary world. I'm not sure I can see him going back to just derping about on his own and drawing for his own fun. He needs validation from 'fans' online (as well as their money, when Barb takes most of his tugboat).

Chris without the internet is a Chris that would need a lot of structured activities to keep him busy and grounded in reality. That feels like it would be the very description of hell, to Chris. I just can't see him giving up the internet willingly in any way. It's too large a part of his life now.

There's an upheaval coming in the shape of Barb dying and Chris having to move out of 14 Branchland Ct. Hopefully that upheaval will be a new start for Chris with a support system around him of at least interested tard wranglers that can make sure he keeps up with bills and cleaning.

Why the fuck would he take that option? Amtrak is cheaper.

Hell that ride is worth probably around the same if not less according to a loose KBB. There's no way Chris could get the best deals in time like tirerack or costco for tires, and a full service oil change screams RIP OFF. Anyone who's ever held a wrench knows that. pouring syn blend oil in that beater of a motor being charged 10 a quart for it. Hitting the air cleaner with some compressed air etc racking up a 100 or so for the service.

More I hear about Barb more I don't like her, not that she started high on the list of respect. Chris is so toxically linked to her because he has some reason to pick that over Amtrak and a taxi or uber. Hell, Rental would be doable vs what he has to have dumped into barbs heep she doesn't even use.

It's actually probably one of her most reasonable requests. Both of those maintenance items would be for Chris's own good too if he is using that vehicle.

That's not saying much though.

It wasn't even a healthy place to live then. It had Barb in it. A crazy shrieking monster who threatened to kill herself if you tried to clean up the immense piles of Barbage stacked floor to ceiling. It didn't start out that bad, but I seriously doubt Barb was ever a well person.
