Objectively good games you can't get into

Post the games that you respect but can't bring yourself to actually enjoy, try as you might.
SimCity 4 is my game. Something about managing a city just gets tedious very quickly. NAM was supposed to fix that but all it did was add 20 different flavours of bike interchange.

I've tried about twenty times to get into Red Dead Redemption 2 and I can never get past the ten hour mark. The story and character dialogue is so fucking boring. It's like listening to Grandpa Simpson talk about wearing an onion on his belt cause that was the style in those days.

Dark Souls.

I don't know whether it's the control scheme, the level design or just the combat in general but nothing really stuck with me, every time I try to get into it I feel like I'm forcing myself to play it.

Oddly enough, this doesn't extend to Bloodborne, I actually like Bloodborne because everything feels more refined.

The Souls/Borne franchise.
I've never personally been a fan of them after having tried to get into them multiple times, but I can absolutely see the draw they have on people.
Exact same, I've never played a Souls game outside of 3, but I can tell you about the lore because the story is so interesting to me and I've watched walkthroughs. Bloodborne and its Cthulhu themes specifically had a unique atmosphere that was able to grip me every time.

Slay the Spire.

Man, I've tried. I have 50-odd hours into it, I've watched "how to git gud" videos, and I still can't make it past A1. It's just one of those games I feel like my brain isn't capable of understanding. And it's not necessarily the genre. I enjoy and am reasonably competent at (say) Monster Train. But something about Slay the Spire just doesn't work for me.

Any XCom-like game. Jagged Alliance 2 specifically. Before I played JA2 I read some book on its development and got really excited to see all the technical stuff in action. Bought the game a bit later, installed the unofficial patch, watched/read a few guides on what I should do to have the most enjoyable experience, then nearly fell the fuck asleep at the 5 hour mark.

Slay the Spire is kinda dumb in that the starter character, the Ironclad, is way trickier to build for than the other characters. I struggled a lot until I had the Silent unlocked, and then the game became much easier.

I've done better with Defect, but that's relative. I'm still terrible with all of them. I actually consider Silent the hardest (though I stopped playing before the fourth character came out, so no idea about that one).
