(CNN Business)More than five years after being acquired by Twitter before it officially launched, Periscope is shutting down.

"We have made the difficult decision to discontinue Periscope as a separate mobile app by March 2021," the video live-streaming app announced in a blog post on Tuesday.
"The truth is that the Periscope app is in an unsustainable maintenance-mode state, and has been for a while," it added. "Over the past couple of years, we've seen declining usage and know that the cost to support the app will only continue to go up over time."
Most of the app's live streaming capabilities have been added to Twitter as features, and streams that were shared on Twitter will continue to be available for replay. Users can also download an archive of their data and content before Periscope goes off the app store next March.
Launched in 2015, Periscope quickly became a popular way to share and follow live events, boosting a trend that prompted rival platforms Facebook and Instagram to launch their own live streaming services.
But the app also sparked controversy on multiple occasions, with sporting events cracking down on spectators illegally streaming online and one high-profile case involving an alleged livestream of a rape.
This isn't the first video service Twitter has acquired and subsequently discontinued. The company also bought Vine, a short video app in 2012 before shutting it down in 2017.
Periscope said shutting down its individual app has been in the cards for some time.
"We probably would have made this decision sooner if it weren't for all of the projects we reprioritized due to the events of 2020," the company said. "We're confident that live video still has the potential of seeing an even wider audience within the Twitter product."

He’ll probably go to jail or be executed. The left wing in this country is that dedicated to making either of those things happen. And they’ll be hailed as heroes for doing so.

Sure, but this is a much more modest claim than your previous claim that Trump will probably be jailed or executed, or that "every leftist around the world" will collaborate to hunt Trump down, or that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to put Trump voters in camps. I'm not trying to antagonize you; it's just hard to figure out what you're doing. You make an exaggerated claim; you're challenged on it and you walk it back. Then, two minutes later, you're back with another exaggerated claim that you're equally unable to justify.

Yes, sometimes anti-Trump people on the internet are mean and stupid, but no one's going to put you in a concentration camp and no one's going to execute Trump.

There has been an ARREST in an ELECTION FRAUD RELATED CASE!!!!!
The arrestee is former Houston Police Captain Mark Aguirre!
He shadowed and then ran an air conditioner repairman off the road in an attempt to prove he was smuggling 75,000 fake ballots in his truck. It turned out that the air conditioner repairman's truck actually had air conditioner parts and tools for repairing air conditioners in it.
After the October altercation with the technician, Aguirre also told authorities that he and other unidentified suspects had set up a “command post” at a Marriott hotel in Pearland for days ahead of the incident. He refused to identify the other people he worked with, according to the Houston police report.

Aguirre ran his black SUV into the back of the technician’s truck to get the man to stop and get out, according to a court document describing probable cause for the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He pointed a handgun at the technician and forced him to the ground, according to the affidavit. One of the other people Aguirre was with allegedly stole the technician’s vehicle after searching it; police later found the abandoned truck a few blocks away.

A few days before Aguirre allegedly assaulted the man, he called Lt. Wayne Rubio with the Texas attorney general’s office, requesting help with the investigation. Rubio declined and reported the call. Days later, he got another call from Aguirre, who was upset that police would not intervene based on his uncorroborated accusations, according to the affidavit, which referred to a phone call and email from Rubio reporting the call to authorities. Aguirre allegedly told Rubio he had been in a car wreck with “a voter fraud suspect.”

“We are lucky no one was killed,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement.

clearly the man was committing voter fraud, every time i try scanning his air conditioners through the dominion voting machine it discounts the votes!

Sometimes, I have a habit of speaking hyperbolically sometimes, or at the very least, that's the impression I've gotten from Democrats the last four years. Just the idea of reeducation camps for Trump supporters and voters makes me worry a lot.

I'm just worried that we're going to hear of the people that want to do those things, and some like Pelosi aren't talking because they know that saying those things now instead of once they got people fully immersed in their new normal. And with Biden having all of Congress and the White House, they can easily pursue those pet projects. And camps and jail/executions could be one of those projects, even if it's lower on the list.
